Worked in Worksop, looking at video you have come down Sparken hill into town before pedestrianastion! The town was still worth visiting! Had a thriving cattle market which drew traders in. Nowadays no proper market, shops are going, even banks are closing! Talk about rats leaving a sinking ship!
I would have been ten when this film was made, yet had totally forgotten that you could drive down bridge street and bridge place! Seeing fords again made me smile!
Stopped just where Fords was on the left :) I used to go there every Saturday and spend my pocket money on toy soldiers and Whizzer and Chips annuals lol
I had a paper round at WH Smith in the 70's that took me up Sparken Hill. Used to fly down Bridge St. trying to break the speed limit and didn't pause for breath until Victoria Square.
Haha, a year before I was born. Its strange to see that main road going through the center, Retford had a similar road that in its center that was paved over.
Omg that is so weird, I never knew it was like that as i was born after they changed it. It's so weird to see your own town centre as it used to be and that it was different before.
Ben Mordecai I used to deliver newspapers up Sparken Hill before school, then race like hell on my bike down Bridge Street to build up enough speed to fly through the Town centre on my way home up Carlton Road. No traffic at all in the early mornings back in the early 70's. You could easily break the speed limit on a push bike down Sparken Hill.
The sad fact of the matter is that back then - Worksop looked great and was full of open shops. Worksop now is an absolute shithole. I am telling you that Selby is 10 times better than Worksop and Selby is also a shithole. Harehills lane is a safer and more enjoyable place to spend a Saturday night.
sadly worksop looks nothing like this anymore , if anything it looks more like afghanistan with the sheer amount of illegal immigrants invading the place , british peoples identity will soon no longer exist
Brings back so many happy memories

Before Bridge Street was pedestrianised. Great video!
