Scrolling through at memories n come across you I’ve been left bout 15 years but lived in a pub for many years and some videos wow how they changed. These seem good days
Thank you for uploading this video, Paul. I can vaguely remember Naked Remedy... they knocked out some good tunes. I have slowed down a bit too now... but the memory is still in my right foot from time to time.
Nice one Paul! Unlike several previous commentators, I CAN remember Kiddy as it was in 1980 - and I have to say, it was a lot better then than it is now. For a start, I couldn't see a single mobility scooter in your video mate! Kiddy gets bad press but back in the day it was a great town - in music, fashion, footy it held its own with the best of 'em......Such a massive shame to see its manufacturing capabilities reduced to nothing however (for the younger viewers, when Kiddy was full of busy factories, the place was really buzzing - a great place to be). This is a fantastic upload, thanks Paul - just to see you driving up Vicar Street brings back soooo many memories mate !!!!!
Love this, I'm 26, so this is firmly my dad's era, he had an escort at this time too, John Mason is his name if you know him. I love seeing how our town looked back then
Thanks for this. I can actually remember it looking like this. I can remember my dad dropping my mom off in town on a Saturday morning right to the doors of Woolworths. The cinema was great, very ornate inside with ushers that had torches, Kia Ora sold in the intervals - no one feeling the desperate need to text and Facebook all the bleedin way through the film!
I know, I used to live in Bewdley which basically meant you more or less lived in kiddi as well, and look at how bad it is now, pretty much uninhabitable as far as I'm concerned, it's like a giant parking lot, very depressing.
Great video - reminded me of happy times. 👍 We lived in Stourbridge, but my mum was a teacher at St John’s for over 20 years (70s-90s). She always used to take me to Sounds Around, whenever I’d saved up enough for a new cassette for my Walkman! 😀
Absolutely fab to see vintage Kiddy again. Thank you ever so much for the great memories Paul. My twin brother and I lived in Kiddy from birth until we moved away in our early twenties and now we regularly go back to see our Mum, so we fondly remember places like the old cinema as well as Woolies. We were about nine years old when you took this video. It's also the lack of cars around compared to now - we still see our Godfather who lives on Spencer Street and the street looked so empty then. Thanks again for sharing.

Fantastic. I had a Ferguson Videostar that had a separate recorder. It was actually quite small (for the time) as it recorded onto VHS C format. I used to like the quality of tube cameras.

I can remember Kiddy then and well before then! I have been around for a while! I can't see that it has changed all that much in the last 40 years really, well apart from the cars of course. Oh the gas cylinder and Woolworth and Littlewoods (I know Crown house but that has only just recently gone), plus you can no longer drive up Vicar street or down Oxford Street. But I would love to see some film of the 1960s or early 1970s before the ring road was built. That would be really something! Do you know if any moving film survives from that time? Like I said I've been around for a while lol.
This is great and historic footage - you must have been one of (if not) the first people in Britain, or indeed Europe to have owned a video camera! They only came out in Japan a few months before this video was shot - so your channel may just contain some of the earliest video filmed on a consumer camcorder in the United Kingdom!
