Man! The sound of that fretless... Love the fact that these guys produced some of the most listenable music, here I am in 2023 still jamming this so my neighbors can enjoy with me.
He said a swear . . . I saw them at Madison Square Garden a little over a month later. They didn't take the stage till 10:30, forcing me to take the last train out of Grand Central back home. I caught holy hell from my dad for not calling to let my parents know I'd be home so late (around 2:30 AM). I was 14 . . .
@@shanecabbage2187 I did feel quite fortunate (even if the seats were nosebleed seats). Fortunate that is until my infuriated mother told me I couldn't go to any more concerts. Let's just say the next words out of my mouth earned me a substantial and literal smack down from my dad . . .
@Grant Schinto Ouch... I did get to see Prince a few moons ago, Graham Central Station opened, but Sting is still on my "to see" list, especially since "The Police" will likely never be seen in concert again. Truly happy for you. Sad you had your rear tanned, but perhaps worth it...
Copeland fooled the world. A white dude, playing one drops (Reggae), and had EVERYONE thinking they were a "pop" band. I saw em in 07, and Summers had the same jacket on
The musicality and sheer technical prowess going on with this band are what make them special. They were that good and with hooks to boot. You could say that they were progressive rock because of the chops they brought to the songs, kinda like very late Genesis. Superior players using a pop song underlayment to kick some major ass.
Forgive if this is a dumb question but was just wondering if there's any particular reason why the various Capitol Theatre gigs on YT always seem to be in black and white?

God. If I could time travel all I would do is see all my favorite bands live. The Police would be my first stop.
Yes, indeed!!
Same!
Best small venue back in the day. Sound was incredible and all big groups played here.
To be young again ... !!!

1:47 I love that different version of the guitar solo
Great performance... too bad there aren’t enough shots of Copeland.
Never are
Superb drums driven...
I don't think anyone can sound and play like this drummer. Unique.
Stewart Copeland plays really close to this drummer.
@@gometricusaWhich drummer? Stewie is playing the drums here..:

Is Stewart Copeland also in this band?
TheKinoEye From the start.
IKR... The camera basically ignored him completely. Disgraceful.

This song was written about Paris Hilton and all the stress she had to go through with the media but how it ultimately led to her great fame today
Paris Hilton was born in 1981!!!
This concert took place on November 29th
1980.............
