I’m very excited for the recent love the Ottomans are getting. Been my favorite civ since introduction. For a very low APM player like myself, my most common mistake is forgetting to train more units. The fact that it’s not even possible with Ottomans feels like a custom made personal handicap setting. 😂

Most people that are not used to play a lot of ottomans simply dont remember that janissary can repair. It could also be that faye wanted to keep the janissaries engaged in battle and use vills instead to repair by slowly pushing the bombards back and forth
Hey Aussie, thanks for finally highlighting the skills of Faye with some W's on the board. Ever since your tournament, the tenacity and grit of Faye was exciting to watch. When she swung big it really didn't seem to connect on some incredible hard match ups. I know I'd get wiped without a doubt. Hope to see more.
Great bombard definitely needed that little cost reduction, but overall, I kinda feel like the potential of the Ottomans always was there, but not really understood/leveraged properly by the pro scene until now. It's like the buffs finally made them go tryhard with the civ and allowed them to figure out things that were technically already there, like the best use of Vizier points and optimum build orders that take full advantage of the free units, for example. Also: needing less villagers is such a massive advantage in this game because of supply cap. And that point feels like it was not properly exploited either until now.
Yeah, I agree, most pros knew that feudal aggro worked so they didnt want to 'delay', but a lot of ottomans power is also in castle with free siege and a huge firepower in imperial. If the meta goes towards a eco start ottomans late game can shine.
Devs huge buff to Observatory did NOT transform the Janissary and Great Bombard. This fast Imp can't survive a serious Feudal all-in, this game was casual
You don't need to go imp. If they all in stay castle and defend with men at arms mangos. You can't look at one game and assume they would do the same in another. They can scout and adapt. Castle men at arms still destroy feudal. They normally only go imp if the opponent goes castle.

GUA has more then 15k res and dosent make a single unit, hes not even on pop cap. 33:15 ... right, i make horsman against an army of Janisarry and spearman. I dont get why GUA dint went for maa + Handcannoneers, maa are a much better meat shild then horseman here and traid better against anything Faye has.
running maa into 50 jannisarys? not the best idea mate. At least horseman are cheap compared to them, and with 10,000 food in the bank it doesn't matter really
@@captainvaughn5692 Dude, MAA and Horsmen cost the exact same and Janns dont do extra damage to maa, maa do more damage and take even less damage because of higher armor. Horseman also dont do there bonus damage vs Jannisarys, since they dont count as "range" unit. The Otto player has do kite back in order to effectivly fight the maa, which opens up the great bombards for culverin. 50 Horsman woundt even killed a single Jannisary, with next to no micro involved because of all that. Do you homework.

Late game, GUA was fighting Faye's 100 unit Ottoman army with his 50 unit HRE army and often WINNING! Wasn't Ottomans famous in history for stronger soldiers, winning battles against larger armies? Devs made a joke of Ottoman civ
Why did GUA even tap out?? Played real REAL sloppy, but still could and should have won this game. One thing this game does not tell us: Great Bombard is "great" now. It's not.
He couldnt win at the end. Faye had 100%+ production speed and could have outlasted him no problem. Great bombards are alot better and now if you let ottomans into imp before you, its gg bc you arent outproducing them
They have a really strong food economy because of chapel (and melee units tend to be more food heavy, like horsemen and maa), arguably the best maa in the game, and they don't need ranged units to counter spearmen because they can use landsknechte. Which means they can counter everything with combinations of melee units and siege.
-Didnt go for that 4th relic and instead just running around with army. -12k food not being used. -Many battles where culverin where not shooting at the bombard, or moved too far ahead in range of the bombards. -Moving past Imam many times with horses without killing it.
Those randies need a nerf. You need 3 culverin shoots. To counter 5 of them it's really nasty with culverins. I literally have to split my army in two and attack from different angles to draw the protecting units way
Drongo, you keep being so adamant about long and unsafe trading distances.. that 24g/sec she's basically getting is pushing her quite high in gold/min. And it's extremely safe and passive income, no reliance on unsafe gold mines. The advantage to short safe trades far outweigh the idea of long distance trades imho.

Also, having vills close by helps to build outposts as you push, so those vills will be busy all the time.
