Taemin is truly an icon. I honestly think he has one of the best discographies in the whole of kpop. Each one of his songs and videos is literally art. Also, just to validate his charisma, he actually does have a song called ‘the rizzness’ on his recent album. Personally, some of my favourites of his are ‘idea’, ‘advice’, ‘criminal’, ‘guilty’ and ‘want’.

This is how much power Taemin has. I went to the Dallas concert for SuperM and my dad accompanied me. The whole time up there (3 hours) he was joking he was going to need earplugs. He then discovered Taemin and his solo Danger😂. This man spent the whole time on the way home asking question about the members but mostly Taemin and for a whole month showed his coworkers the concert video of Taemin. I definitely bought him a SuperM album that Christmas and he loved it😂😂

You have finally landed on planet Taemin! No one is like him, everything he does becomes iconic. I don't know how many people have tried to copy this choreography and no one has ever managed to do it like him. For me he remains the best dancer in all kpop. The dance to this song is so deceptively tricky. It looks simple but is incredibly hard to do well and with the style that Taemin achieves.
It was choreographed by the legendary Koharu Sugawara and she is the one dancing with him in the duet shots. The dance practice for this (really any Taemin choreo) is well worth a watch.
Taemin is so suited to female choreography. Androgynous style fits him so well. Seriously, he is a top dancer/entertainer.

Yes almost everything in Kpop and asian entertainment get ratings, TAEMIN is one of the TOP TIER Icons in the industry; he’s fully earned the title IDOL OF IDOLS within the past decade and at age 30 now he’s gained 31 years of experience/knowledge in music and dancing as he continues to learn/explore into more of his unexplored talents. HE IS A FULL PACKAGE along with SHINee, prayers for their oldest & leader ONEW return hopefully sometime this year 🙏 when we can finally get a full group comeback.

I think one of his hardest choreos are advice, idea and famous
The look and feel for "Move" is very specific, it's supposed to be androgynous and gender neutral. Early in his career when Taemin was growing up in SHINee he was known for his feminine look. The industry thought it was novel and cute to play up his feminine features. Being recognized for his delicate image, ended up giving him a real complex about the fact that people never saw him as a masculine man. It took him a long time to accept that he was known for his looks and to come to terms with the fact that everyone thought of him as a "pretty boy," etc. So, at this point in his career as a 24 year old (He is 30 now) he was trying to make a statement about how he has now come to terms with just being himself and not caring what people think. Dancing is art and movement has no gender.
"Move" is his title track on his 2nd Korean solo album, which was released in 2017. He debuted as a solo artist in 2014. There are 3 versions of his "Move" MV. Version #1 is the regular MV version, which you watched. Version #2 is his solo performance version that just highlights his dancing. Version #3 is the duo version, which focuses on the choreographer and him dancing together.
Fun fact: The blue color you see throughout this MV is supposed to represent the cool, chill vibe of this song, but Pearl Aqua also is SHINee's fan color, so you will see aqua/blue/green shades with most everything to do with SHINee as a way to represent their connection as a group and their connection to their fans, etc.
And just so you know, those background vocals aren't Taemin's. They actually chose to leave the songwriters' vocals in the song from when they recorded the guide track. I have seen interviews with Adien Lewis, one of the original songwriters and he was shocked to hear his voice still in the song. Usually when a Kpop company gets a song from a songwriter, especially a foreign songwriting team, they will translate it into Korean and record all the vocals using the artists' vocals or other Korean artists, etc. Therefore, it's very rare that a songwriter would have their original vocals in a Kpop song, however, this was one of the few times where SM didn't rerecord or change everything. The female dancer who is the featured dancer dancing with Taemin in the MV wasn't just any dancer, she is the choreographer who choreographed "Move". Taemin has worked hard to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard than himself. Taemin has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee -- he started with SM Entertainment when he was around 11 years old -- and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training. As he has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does.
Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Although he has input in almost everything he does, he has choreographers that come up with the choreography for most of his dances and he then infuses it with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. If you watch Taemin dance a lot, you will see that no matter who choreographs the dance, it will always be very Taemin-like. Many choreographers who have worked with him over the years have said that, with Taemin you can't help but allow him to move in whatever way his body takes him. Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him.
Taemin has had a solo career for more than 9 years and he has been a member of SHINee for more than 15 years. He has at least 11 solo albums and SHINee currently has 14 full length albums, plus dozens of mini albums, singles, repackaged albums, etc. And he is also a member of SuperM, which debuted in 2019. So, you won't run out of Taemin content to watch for a very long time. ;p Taemin has even held several solo concerts, as well as more than 100 concerts as a member of SHINee and a world tour as a member of SuperM.

Taemin is the most interesting solo act in K-pop, and I'm an EXO-L. I love all the members' albums, but every time Taemin makes a comeback, it's just different. He may look effortless, and yeah, I think that's his aim, but one thing I've noticed is he really puts a lot of thought into everything he does, and he also puts a lot of effort to make his vision happen.
Taemin is so attractive and talented it's kind of offensive. Many of his songs are very sensual, which makes no sense because off stage he is a baby. He is definitely a good candidate for Thirst-day. The choreography for his song Sexuality is my sexuality 🤣

There are definitely 19+ rated MVs, BiBi for one has a few! He's sticky, I can't 🤣 Btw the dancer Simon pointed out is the choreographer Koharu, she's worked with him and SHINee a few times! Re the androgynous vibes, in the duet scenes she deliberately danced in a stereotypically "masuline" style while Taemin used a "feminine" style which creates an interesting contrast! My favourite Taemin MV is Want, but for pure choreo Drip Drop is a great one to check out! Guilty is a bit more deliberately uncomfortable and slightly disturbing for a thirsty theme I think
I'm loving that you're checking 2nd. gen artists, I adore Stray Kids, but they are the only 4th. gen group I like. Bigbang, 2pm, SHINee and Exo (3rd. gen) are my other loves, so I am enjoying the journey you guys are taking.
Taemin is a very well rounded artist, I would recommend you watch Danger and two of his japanese releases: Sayonara Hitori anf Flame of Love; both songs are hauntingly beautiful.

I'm not criticizing anything but i prefer this kind of sexiness over the western mvs which has insane amount of swearing, unnecessary provocative moves or clothes where as here the sexiness is sensual, it is suggestive and it is subtle. I absolutely loved reaction guys.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Oh my gosh! I love u ty so much for doing this. Holy moly. So excited. So glad u looked into him. Hope u watch more Taemin and Shinee. Jimin is pals with Taemin. They have a lot in common i hear. They also did a dance together. So i slowly started to listen to his songs. I love Sayonara Hitori /Goodbye (Japanese) by him. It's beautiful. Hope u check it out. Love this one. It's catchy. His visuals are great. He is very striking to me in this MV. Liked his vocals too.Loved the choreo. It's MJ inspired but focused on the slow movements more. Nothing I have seen before. So it really surprised and pleased me. I saw a lot of inspo Jimin got from him. But I also see how Jimin is different and his own artist. It was cool to see that. Hope u see the dance practice. It's really good. He is smooth with it. I see why Jimin is a fan. I liked the girl backup dancers too. Love that he uses just great dancers overall consistently. My understanding was that others said he had an androdunous look to him. And he accepted that after a time. This is the song where he accepts himself as is. He accepts both sides of himself. You’re right, the dance moves in the choreo are more stereotypically “feminine” moves. Move is the moment when Taemin fully embraced his androgyny and confidently mixed masculine and feminine dance into his choreo, because as he has said before, he doesn’t see things as “male dance” vs “female dance” but rather all dance moves are a form of expression that should not be tied to one gender or another. He is not afraid to challenge the stereotypes of Kpop dance styles, and for this reason the Move choreo is iconic, with idols of both genders even to this day covering the song and the dance. It was so different from anything that came before and still stands out as one of the most unique choreos for Kpop. This is one of his defining moments in his solo career, I think, because he really began to set himself apart with a distinct artistic vision for his songs and dance style from here on out (Not saying it wasn’t like this before but rather he seemed to become more confident about it from here on IMO).
I also love that he uses both female and male backup dancers and has them do the same choreo. He really does actively support the idea that no dance or dance style is gender-restricted.

The best thing about Taemin is that he really started a movement in K-pop. His androgynous looks weren't always in his favour and back then he said how he always wanted to be as manly as the others but now he embraces it. He says how dancing isn't about gender and how he wants to show that there shouldn't be any differences between girl idol and male idol's dancing. Most of the time he uses female back-up dancers and it wasn't that common yet that your female back-ups have the same spotlight as the male idol in the center, they usually were just a bonus but in Taemin's performances they're a part of the whole performance and it wouldn't work as well without them. Even during his concerts there are sections where only the female dancers are on the stage and dance without him as a transition. Recently Taemin also talked about wearing make-up a lot this was what he said: "For me, I think there is no absolute standard on masculinity. Nowadays, there are a lot of men who care about skin care and even use makeup to express themselves. I feel like there was a strict gender classification in the past, but the boundaries have become more blurred and our society is more about accepting and respecting each other’s differences these days. If makeup highlights and empowers my unique appeal, why not use it?"
You should check out his song "Pretty Boy" with the lyrics, that was his collab with Kai and he chose him because Taemin wanted his best friend to be part of his solo debut album. Pretty Boy was written by Jonghyun and he said he thought about Taemin while writing it, it touches upon the expectations towards males in south korea and in general and it really fits Taemin well.

"Move" is one of the most imitated choreographies in k-pop and nobody can do it like Taemin. It looks low-key and even simple on the surface, but it's incredibly difficult to control all the muscles in your shoulders, back and arms as smoothly as he does.

This song changed things in K-pop. Not because of the song, but because of the choreography. Before Move, there was choreo for men, and choreo for women. Taemin rejected that. Taemin and his partner are doing the same dance, which was more 'feminine' than typical men's choreo, and more 'masculine' than choreo for women at the time. He showed everyone that it was OK to break the previously strict gender norms of the day. Gender-bending had been done before (see Heechul from Super Junior), but not to this extent, and not by a soloist as big as Taemin.

Hi guys!! I loved this reaction so much T_T. Yes, Taemin is an alien, he is an introvert who is posessed by the demon of dance and transforms into this intimidating, unapproachable performer. He takes the air out of your lungs.
Yeah, I get it if you are not ready for SHINee yet. They are absolutely mind blowing, they are the standard of kpop and one of the reasons groups nowadays are so impressive. SHINee is responsible for many firsts and not only did they raise the bar then but they continue to do so, even 15 years in.

Some faves of his for me and they are not like "Move" are Sayonara Hitori, 2 Kids, Press your number, and Black Rose. He has an amazing discography. Also, he was on the Korean variety show "We Got Married". He was married to APink's Naeun (Sp?). It was like a cute KDrama.

Fun fact: taemin and seulgi collaborated twice so maybe you would be interested in checking them out! One was on his 'Move' album called heart stop which seulgi featured in and another was 'Drip Drop' which is one of his solos but seulgi performed it with him during a smtown performance
Finally! Taemin is the King of Kpop and the term Idol of Idols actually attributed to Taemin. He’s been a solo artist for 10 years. You have quite a rabbit hole to go down 🤩 you hit the nail on the head Taemin’s art is androgynous and sensual. Everything he does pushes boundaries in the industry and everyone else follows suit. You should check out his latest release “Guilty”. It’s actually very emotional, with lots of strings and shows off his amazing vocals more than Move.
TAEMIN was the first of SHINee to make a solo debut and has way more solo music than his brothers but I think the other members are sort of catching up with all their solo content. *He was in his early 20s when MOVE came out*

Oh, THE OTHER CATEGORIES, I'll do my best though there's far better informed/more articulate people on the tipic:
- For something more slow and beautiful you have Flame of Love (the dance version of the Japanese MV) for some romantic, interpretative Taemin.
- You have Soldier for some powerful, inspiring Taemin (I recommend the live offsick on track version where he starts playing the piano and is wearing white. He does not dance but he CONVEYS SUCH STRONG EMOTION).
- You have Taemin using religious imagery, referencing deadly sins and talking about desire in WANT.
- If you want really REALLY impressive choreography I would watch Criminal or Advice.
There's so much to see and I feel completely unqualified to categorise his discography or analyse it. One thing that I can say that I have noticed about Taemin in seeing him and Kai performing is that for all their similarities and close friendship, they are such different performers. Kai is an expert in drawing you in, he charms you and you can't stop looking at him because he is enchanting in such a gentle, playful way, he "gets you drunk" in his charm (sorry that's cringe).
But Taemin is one scary dude. Where Kai is inviting, Taemin has this aura of power in his performances that just makes you stare at him in awe, he is unapprochable in how impressive he is. When he performs I swear that his conciousness leaves this plane of existence, he exists in the form of dance and his body just gives off so much talent but in a very intimidating way, because you the way he moves is so majestic that he feels ethereal. You are not invited to watch like Kai, you're in a trance, not because of his charm but because of his power. I feel like I rambled but I hope this is useful in conveying exactly what type of artist you're in front of. I'll make my friends watch this and see if they can guide you better than this in terms of categorising his discography.

This song along with Exo's Love Shot and Monsta X's Shootout are the reason I finally joined Kpop. Before that I've given countless chances to kpop even to big groups like BTS and BP but I couldn't get into them. I swear I used to think maybe the guy in "Move" and "Love Shot" are either the same people or they're both siblings. Turns out I wasn't entirely wrong cause while they weren't siblings but Kai and Taemin have been besties since the trainee days. Goes to show how they both have a similar vibe to each other.
I'd really recommend to check out Gashina by Sunmi + Move by Taemin stage performance. It's so iconic.
Taemin is just so freaking amazing and SHINee are so great. I recommend that group a lot. I still remember their first daesang award. How much their hoobae Exo cheered for them. Kai even started crying for his best friend 😂 then there was Exo's first daesang where SHINee were hugging them a little while Taemin was filming crying Kai 🤣 there's also SHINee's iconic reaction to Exo's Twilight VCR. Those were golden days❤

Well look where he is now! 😍Their friends group, the “Padding Squad”, is one of the most talent-filled group of friends ever. It includes EXO’s Kai, Hotshot’s Timoteo and Ha Sungwon, BTS’ Jimin, Vixx’s Ravi, and the sole civilian Gwonho.

This choreo requires a very difficult mix of strength, flexibility, and body control. The dance practice video will demonstrate that better than the MV. There's also several famous dance covers to this song, including by four Twice members (Momo, Dahyun, Mina, and Chaeyoung, from my memory). It's good, but if your bias is one of these members then you need to watch it.

To be honest, women wouldn't mind working on their vocabulary. Her laugh looked stupid. But the man’s reaction is magnificent; he very accurately captured the androgyny and the message that Taemin wanted to give us. I like the reaction of men to Taemin much more than the reaction of women. Although I am a girl myself. But women are literally hysterical after Taemin, either crying, sighing, or no words. Please try to think more and analyze not only the visuals, but also the music and text. My like is only for men.

The good news is, we've got hundreds of other videos that don't reduce her to a dribbling puddle of fangirl noises and so if you want to find out how intelligent, articulate, thoughtful, passionate, inspiring, knowledgeable, humble, hilarious and flat-out brilliant my wife truly is then you can watch as many of them as you like.
