When Exo just debuted I remember D.O had more playful and open personality than later in exo career. I can only guess reasons but Exo being crazy popular and overworked was tough for him and all members. But after his military service he came back being more open and comfortable with his idol status. He made an Instagram account, participated in variety shows, started to be more frequent on bubble. He also made lasik surgery. He showed us a new side of himself that I believe was always there and exols couldn’t be more happy about that.
I remember Kyungsoo being traumatized and distancing himself from "fans" due to that sassaeng incident in 2014 where that crazy "fan" went inside their dorm and stole KS's underwear then proceeded to sell it online. Bet he was so scared that time and said that he cannot recognize regular fans and those who are sassaeng anymore. He became more aloof to strangers. Members also began to put up their walls. There is this video where BH was ready to attack this person who slapped Suho.

The guide to D.O. cannot be complete without talking about his friends group. He's best friends with some top actors who are all older than him, so they tend to baby him a lot. They openly support him on social media and even on awards shows (with banners nonetheless), and some of them flew to Japan just to watch an EXO concert. Some of them recently appeared on a reality/variety show entitled Green Bean, Red Bean. This show made D.O. rethink his dream of becoming a farmer. 😆 He's also good friends with similar-aged singers, and they appeared in another reality/variety show entitled No Math School Trip. Also, D.O. loves cooking and he loves eating. He's always on the prowl for Michelin restaurants, and even strikes conversations with the chefs. In Korea, they have licensure exams for the different cuisines, and he's licensed for Korean cuisine. And, he does have social media now, so yeay! 😄
In the movie "Swing Kids" D.O. plays a North Korean soldiers who is a prisoner of war during the Korean War in the 1950s and in order to entertain the troops and his captors, etc. there is a group of soldiers and prisoners who form a tap dancing troupe. It was an international movie with actors from all over the world. The movie depicts both sides of the war with the American allies who fought on one side and the North Korean soldiers who fought on the other, etc. The movie was a big deal because not only was D.O. one of the starring roles, but it was an international production, so it was shown all over the world. If you want to watch the movie you can find it as one of UA-cam's free movies.
words will never be able to accurately describe how much i love kyungsoo. i know as fans we'll never truly know the people are favorite idols are when the cameras go off, but he seriously feels like one of those idols who is so genuine and doesn't pretend to be someone he isn't and hasn't let fame change him for the worse. AHHHH he's just so good and precious 😭❤
D.O.’s Swing Kids is amazing but 100 Days My Prince was what got me into EXO , i had never heard of EXO until I watched that series & I looked up the bio to see what other acting he had done cause he was that good. & I fell into the EXO “Universe” . I have a soft spot for D.O.

100 days my prince was my first historical k drama, I didn't know anything about kpop and then later on, I got into Kpop and found out D.O. was from a group called Exo, I also knew Kai and Baekhyun from super M and then lay from Chinese shows

Kyungsoo is often misunderstood by people. They think he's cold or distant and that he shouldn't be an idol. I even heard you guys in your videos say about him that he looks distracted, disinterested and bored. But little do people know...
I've been an EXO fan since their debut in 2012 and I can honestly say Kyungsoo is one of the kindest, most humble yet most talented kpop singer/actor out there. He doesn't like the spotlight at all, he just wants to sing and act. Shortly after EXO's debut, Kyungsoo was harassed by sasaeng fans to horrific extremes. Kyungsoo briefly talked about it a few years ago. He said that his personality changed because of the incidents. But he never fails to care for his real fans. He said this about his second solo album 'My goal is for the people who listen to my album to be healthy, mentally and physically.
His song 'That's okay' is one of the most well loved songs in the Korean entertainment industry. It's called the national healing song. The song was released in 2019 but till this date, there's an idol mentioning this song almost every week.
Kyungsoo suffered a lot under SM entertainment. He was the only EXO member that didn't resign the contract with them in 2018. That's why since 2018, SM has been putting Kyungsoo in the background of EXO has much as possible. Kyungsoo only was able to release his first solo album in 2021 (after completing his military service) as the main singer of such a big kpop group that's insane...
Unfortunately, SM wouldn't let Kyungsoo promote his first solo album at all. Till this day he has never been able to perform one of his solo debut album songs live. With his second solo album release he got to guest in a few shows, finally. After releasing his second solo album, last November it was revealed that Kyungsoo left SM Entertainment and started his own company (Company SooSoo) together with his long-time manager who had been with him since his debut. However, Kyungsoo is still part of EXO. Last week the news actually broke out that Kyungsoo is releasing his third solo album around March/May!

I actually thought EXO re-signed with SM 2-3 years ago, so the CBX controversy surprised me. Although it's sad they're parting ways, I believe it's for the better. SM took them for granted.
I've noticed a change in D.O.'s demeanor - he used to be carefree, but I guess events and maturity have made him more unbothered.
Lately, he smiles more, especially in his eyes. I'm happy for them. Btw, he has a lot of projects now aside from singing.❤❤❤
you'd be surprised to know that D.O. is an extrovert. He did not used to be so reserved/restrained in the early days. But a bad experience with sasaengs has made an impact. I am just so glad he is much better after he came back from military. He is more playful and expressive as evidenced in his tv shows.

@@onthe_MARK05 Generally speaking, idol contracts are 10 years (at least in EXO's case, hence why Lay finished his initial contract in 2022 and finally said goodbye completely) However, the details of contracts are never revealed so it's always hard to say, especially when it comes to sub-units, solo work etc. Since CBX and Kyungsoo have said that they will continue doing work under SM together for EXO activities they will all have some sort of contractual relationship with the company. It is simply no longer a standard, EXCLUSIVE (meaning they can't work via other management), 10 year-ish contract that people sign at debut.
Fun fact, when exo did their MBTI test, it turns out baekhyun is an introvert and d.o is an extrovert.
Makes sense when baekhyun loves to stay at home and d.o is a social butterfly where he collect all the older actor that loves him as a younger brother
Especially in the beginning, you can see how he is super playful, always talking and messing with everyone, but he had a very bad time because of bad comments and because of the sasaeng and he began to change the way he behaved in front of the cameras until he came back from military service, either because of his experience there, because of the operation of the view (he can now see the audience) and why he is older that he is closer again in front of the cameras...
d.o. has the best voice in kpop ever and i will die on this hill. the most beautiful tone and best agility of any idol.
fun fact (since btob was mentioned in this video)- member Hyunsik and Kyungsoo are childhood friends. They went to the same high school and were in a band together. Kyungsoo was scouted by SM during one of their performances in a school showcase 😊

Kyungsoo is unique in many ways... he is an idol but he doesn't act like an idol... he has a voice you don't expect to hear in K-POP... he doesn't flirt with audience but he is attention grabbing... he doesn't try to look good but he looks very attractive and handsome... he's sexy without trying to be sexy... he doesn't appear in social media much, but when he does, always makes a huge impression ...

D.O. is really humble but he can be extremely funny and a prankster. You'll notice that in Exo Showtime and Exo Ladder (all seasons).
Kyungsoo has a chef license for Korean cuisine specifically! He did the course with his mum, but yeah we'd probably call it a qualification here as opposed to 'licence'.

10:41 I think the guy that handled teaching Kyungsoo tap for the movie Swing Kids said once that they had about 3-5 months to get Kyungsoo up to the level as if he had been dancing it for at least 3 years, and he thought Kyungsoo succeeded and surpassed!~~~ Kyungsoo practiced a lot in his free time, even in the dorms. EXO has amassed an exemplary discography, you haven't heard B-sides and Solo's. The music is timeless, produced to perfection. D.O. is the voice, his vocal agility makes him a warrior and his tone is the weighted blanket you didn't know you needed. He's a brilliant actor who is also a proficient mimic in my book... be it language or mannerism. He may give off a stern, serious, unbothered vibe but he's hilarious as hell. Great reaction. You should also know that when Idols sit down for interviews or they participate in variety shows the questions they are asked are not off the cuff or unknown to them. Everything they talk about or discuss has to be approved by the company and/or the idol. As preparation for any variety show they go through pre-interviews and the producers ask the members what they want to promote and what they would like to discuss on the show, so they design the questions and interview around what they learn about the members during the pre-interview. They also are all given a script when they show up the day of filming and they are able to review the questions and the activities and decide whether they approve of the talking points or if the games they play are approved by the Kpop company and/or the members of the group, etc. So although it looks like JYP is putting D.O. on the spot, this most likely was a question that was designed specifically to get D.O. to talk about his personal life and to give him talking points. The questions are designed to give the idols the opportunity to talk about these things. I don't think JYP is forcing D.O. to talk about anything he didn't already know would be discussed. A sign of a good interviewer and interviewee is that they are able to make the conversation look and sound natural. Therefore, although I am sure D.O. may not have planned word for word what he would say, I am pretty sure he knew that he would be asked something similar and had thought about what he would want to tell people.
"The unbothered King" yes, he is. And besides all the explaining EXO-L has done here, you should watch the cover for Rewrite the Stars he did with Akmu, is simply magnificent 👌. One of his latest sweetness he has done in his fan meeting, when he was asked to show his abs he throw away the post it! 😅 And he said "no, I don't do abs, I only exercise for health"😅 and yes! He learned tap dancing. He's an splendid actor. His work as an actor is a must.👌 He's still winning many awards until now. The latest was for his movie The Moon.
D.O He's super extroverted especially if you watch videos at the beginning, he was playful, super cheerful, he messed with everyone... But because of the sasaeng and very bad comments that were made about him of all kinds, in front of the cameras he became reserved and quiet and leaves the role of unruly especially to Baekhyun and Chanyeol, Zico in a program they did together went so far as to say that D.O had many friends, especially famous ones, that was like the PR of friends...
D.O. is a super talented vocalist and actor. I discovered him in 2020 after watching 100 Days My Prince. Googled him and discovered EXO. Been an EXO-L ever since. He is my ultimate bias due to his warm soulful vocal tone. Watch D.O. - “Somebody & I Do” Band LIVE Concert [it's Live] K-POP live music show and his appearance on Lee Mujin Service ep81. Between Lay and D.O. I think D.O. is just naturally talented at acting while Lay is the close behind as the hardworking one. Lay has the advantage of more experience since he's in entertainment industry since childhood. I actually know Exo because of KyungSoo. I first discovered him in Hello Monster where he was the antagonist and let me tell you, no antagonist has ever captivate yet scared me so much at the same time. His portrayal was just so phenomenal.

I wouldnt say Lay is especially known for being an actor, he had acting gigs like most of exo members sure, but the representative actor of the group is still D.O since he is acting in some of the top movies in SK among A-list actors
I so clearly remember when Kyungsoo had his debut acting role in "That's Okay, That's Love", a truly amazing drama. The role he played just ripped my heart out when I watched him (in a good way). And the roles he has chosen to play over the years have been interesting and challenging and funny and he really really excels at portraying different people. His next project is him tackling his first main villain role and I am so excited to see it.
He is soft spoken and he started to keep to himself more in some ways due to the pressures of EXO's huge fame. However, he is also strong-minded and has a large network of friends in many parts of the entertainment industry. And now that he is managing his own solo work, I can't wait to see what he'll do next. His solo albums are the best company as you go through your day

Welcome back! It seems like I am not the only one who keeps on checking for new contents daily since you've been gone. There are a lot of D.O. contents that needs to be watched, but the top that goes on my head is the recent Lee Mujin's Service (sorry for butchering the title) and the Sakura radio guesting many years ago when they are still 12 (one for the books)... yes he sang in Spanish, Sabor Ami cover with Exo K in Mexico and Si Fueras Mia from his Empathy album... so good... 😊
The part where he said he dreamt of becoming a Farmer became one of the inspiration of his latest variety show with his actor friends "You Reap What You Sow"... it's very good and D.O.s personality really shone in this show... 😊
For someone who is often described as stoic and unbothered sometimes painfully shy, he can actually hold himself up in solo press interviews when he is promoting his album or works, and even a solo fanmeet few weeks ago.❤

As brilliant as Kyungsoo is as an actor and how wonderful he was in 'Swing Kids', his movies usually destroy me lmao 100 Days My Prince and Bad Prosecutor were dramas for tv so they don't count but his films ugh. Swing Kids is available to watch on UA-cam for free (it is in the US, not sure other places) but if you watch, just have a box of tissues and a stiff drink near by LOL
So the premise for Swing Kids is he plays a North Korean soldier during the Korean War and he falls in love with tap dancing and wants to learn from the American soldier. It's so so so so so so good!

It's great to see him be more carefree and laughing so much recently. His JYP performance reactions will always be one of my faves. Just finished watching GBRB- Reap What You Sow, recently and it onlu made me appreciate him even more. I 100% agree with Kerry that EXO-DC (CD) needs to be subunit. Apparently SM has very limited interest in creating more greatness 🤣. Well, maybe now that the guys are taking rein of solo careers we will get that greatness we know they all possess. Maybe one day I'll choose a bias..... who am I kidding, that will most likely never happen. Kyungsoo is actually an extrovert unlike many people think but once you see how large his circle of friends you'll get it,he's also really confident and firm in his decisions but he's also the sweetest person who always takes care of people around him
And yes kyungsoo is hilarious that's why the members especially chanyeol loves to tease him a lot to let him show his playful side...we even call him Almokyung because he's so unpredictable and hilarious

This is basically their dream since their pre-deput days is to make songs together they even had about 15 songs they promised eo to release it if they debuted together and had been making and composing songs on their own for years now in chanyeol studio since sm never let them do it

Yeah D.O started out being very open and funny and then I think fame, being overworked and EXO having their privacy invaded on several occasions, someone stole D.O's underwear and attempted to sell them. She also said some things about how they could be proven as his that I will just leave to your imagination and kidnapping attempts, stalking, posing as males to get inside the men's bathroom to get to them... I mean it was a crazy crazy time and I think it got to him and he closed up a lot. I think the military gave him a breather and some perspective about his careers and what he wanted to do. He came out of the military like his old playful self and just seems so refreshed and rejuvenated. He was the military cook and he was proud of the fact that the kitchen he cooked in was quite popular and where everyone wanted to eat 😄
He and Xiumin did a play together while in the military and ended up being roommates because of it for a time. Too cute

Kyungsoo (D.O.) is my favorite artist among all, my utt, the most versatile voice, which brings a closeness to the listener... it's incredible... it seems that when his voice enters the song, it searches you deep inside... he is the favorite main vocal of most vocal teachers... he is highly respected in the artistic world, one of the most important names in South Korean cinematography, as a person, he has so far shown himself to be extremely respectful, sweet and humble (despite all the success, fame, money and undeniable talent) .. he has the admiration of several friends and the people who worked with him, who have witnessed countless times what a beautiful person he is, the tireless worker who does the impossible so that his busy schedule doesn't harm any team, whether in your acting or singing career.. Cesar Oh's Guide is cool, but the information is very, very outdated.. I would like to see them react to more of his work, there aren't many mv's etc, SM did a good job sabotaging his solo career because he didn't bend to it, but what he has is beautiful, and listening to his two full albums - Empathy and Expectation - is worth every second of your time... the voice, their emotion, their narrative line are completely coherent with the purpose outlined by Kyungsoo ❤️🔥

Actually I didn't know this song. I actually did see that awards show performance and I didn't remember this was that song until you mentioned it I was like OH RIGHT! When I saw them sing it I thought, that was beautiful.... I need to hear DO sing this song though. Because yeah. DO's voice is so amazing it really just goes right into my heart as well.

D.O. turned out to be Extroverted one not introverted 😂 and baekhyun is the introverted one. Its funny right.. but kyungsoo really make many friends outside his group and people whi have interacted or have a same project with him become close to him. Like in this guide said where Kai (introvert) got relly close to him only within 2 days..
D.O. is a not stereotype idol.. he does his things naturrally and looks effortless.
He didn't like if we call him cute but all his expression are affortly cute
He is funny without him realize that he is funny so he is naturally funny

Yup, D.O. did all the tap dancing in Swing Kids. It's an intense movie. Critics consider D.O. as an actor's actor, and not an idol actor. He's that good! This vid was a bit old. D.O. recently did lasik, if I'm not mistaken, after filming of his drama, Bad Prosecutor. He has an instagram account now. He's also an extrovert. You would be surprised how many friends he has in the music and film industry.
You get to hear D.O. sing and hear a little more of his thought process when he did the Lee Mujin service interview.

KyungSoo used to be so talkative back in the day but incidents with saesang left him scared for so many years. He however started getting out his true self after military. Can you believe it? D.O. is extrovert and Baekhyun is an introvert. I still can't believe it.😂

The whole Fandom knew d.o to be introverted . However, he said last year I think that he was extroverted and it cam as a surprise to all of us
Even his members told him that he did the personality test wrong so he repeated it multiple times and he came out as an extrovert

Yes, it's so funny that D.O. MBTI comes out as extrovert while Baekhyun's comes out as introvert. But I think the reason behind it is that MBTI is essentially how you see yourself since you are answering all the questions from your own perspective so it may be that D.O. believes himself to be pretty outgoing. We do also see that he makes friends in the industry pretty easily.
It didnt come as a surprise to me. If you really look closely, it’s clear he has a big set of friends from different circles. Actor hyungs, zico and indie singer friends, idol friends, and more. And if you see in early Exo videos, and Chanyeol and Suho themselves have said d.o. Was very mischievous during their debut days. It was because of the crazy sasaeng fan encounters (and who knows what else happening behind the scenes) that d.o. made a change in how he presented himself to the public. He has spoken about it before. But now in 2023 and post military I think he has finally worked through some of his hardships, he has said the hyung squad helped him a lot. And with his new company and new solo career, he is slowly getting back to showing his true extrovert self.

@@M-de-Vale I think the confusion might because shy and introvert are often used interchangeably but they aren't quite the same thing. An introvert tends to get overstimulated and gets drained if having to be social too much or goes out too much whereas a shy person doesn't actually get drained by being social. Shy is just afraid to interact with new people. He could be an extrovert who is shy.

Lee Kwangsoo's girlfriend Lee Sunbin even drew a picture of the ad to tease him and he said Chanyeol has been poking fun at him too. Sure enough, Chanyeol then got on his bubble and poked fun at D.O. some more. 😆

Kyungsoo changed a lot after some incidents with crazy fans also called sassaengs, I remember some "fans" sneaked in their hotel rooms and put hidden cameras and stole their stuff to later sell them online, they also almost got kidnaped, crazy fans rented a van similar to theirs and they actually got in, thankfully a staff noticed and was quick to act. That's why he was very reserved and distant around fans, he didn't fully trust us until a few years later, I'm very happy to see his truth self again and seeing him smile and joke around more often makes me really soft lmao
I don't know if Lay is necessarily "more" successful than Kyungsoo as an actor. I think it's more a matter of Lay being huge in China, and Kyungsoo becoming a huge actor in Korea. Both are incredibly successful in their respective home countries.
I haven't been an EXO-L since the beginning, and I know other commenters have pointed out some of the issues Kyungsoo has had to deal with over the years and how that had affected him and made him more reserved and shy then when he initially debuted. I will say that I have been glad to see him perhaps return more to his former self after completing his military service. Not only does he seem to be more open, more playful, doing more fanmeets/variety shows/etc, but he also just looks and seems happier and more at ease these days.
