My student loans have been such a burden to me. I honestly want to get rid of it so bad. I talked to brother and his wife yesterday and they encouraged me to just pay it off and trust that the Lord will provide for me in other areas.

Hi Costi. I enjoy ur videos and teachings and know its sound theology. This worries me a little as your guest is talking more about giving than the effects of debt and wrecklesness of it. God doesn't and never needed our monies. He wants our hearts. He owns it all anyways. I came out the prosperity gospel and its lies esp on tithes and giving. This guy is boarder lining that for me. Giving should be how paul outlines it for us and that is cheerfully and without duress. We give cos Christ gave it all for us. We really dont need any more sermons or videos on giving money, the holy spirit will convict each believer and the kingdom work will never be held ransom by the giving or lack thereof of mere men.

God does indeed want our hearts (Proverbs 15:8) and it is true that He does not need our money (Psalm 50:12), but keep this in mind, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21). In this video, they are encouraging trust and obedience to God, not lining the pockets of false teachers. This video is a far cry from the prosperity Gospel.

Couldn’t agree with you more. The counsel of the brother in Christ contains a lot of biblical wisdom but in the same way borderline prosperity gospel when it says we need to give so He can bless us abundantly financially

What do we do with the fact that everything costs so much more? My husband and I’s income is the same as a few years ago (because companies have stopped giving raises because they can’t afford to), but essentials are now far more expensive. We went from a situation of having a little left over after bills to now barely making it. My husband and I both work full time and he works an additional part time job.

This is true. A loan for even a modest house would have unrealistic payments for many people.

I don’t have much confidence with Randy Alcorn and David Ramsey teachings

But at least Randy Alcorn is connecting with people like Costi which I value more. Dave Ramsey & his crew speak at these Big Eva churches that have real, legitimate biblical problems.

How does one get out of debt if they earn less than a living wage?

Unsecured debt is the biggest problem. A car can be repossessed. A home can be foreclosed.

Randi is referring to Dave Ramsey but it's not true. Dave always says to tithe even while in debt but to not give beyond that while getting out of debt. Look, a Christian can give whatever they want but is it wise?

I’m slightly confused by this For the Gospel… did I hear him correctly say “if you want to get out of debt you better be giving generously?”
Clarification would be helpful… “if you want the lightning, you need to be giving?”

What I heard: the prosperity gospel is not good, but you should still basically follow what is taught by the prosperity gospel so you can be blessed, but this is different from the prosperity gospel.

The bible teaches give from what you have, not from what you don't have. If your borrowing, are you setting your heart on the treasures of the world rather than being satisfied with what you have? Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Debt is bondage. Sometimes, it makes economic sense to borrow for necessities: a modest home, a modest car needed to get around, or an education. Be careful with education loans. Education itself is an investment in life and years. Tuition is at an all-time high. Very few vocations have a good chance of getting loans paid off in a relatively short period. I can only think of one off the top of my head: doctors.

Debt is stressful. Beyond a sensible mortgage, debt is slavery. You are assuming Grace. Pray, sacrifice, save.

You are spreading gossip, rumormongering and spreading falsehoods. Ramsey has never said to quit giving in order to pay off debt. That is a vicious rumor that has been going around for years. You “heard” that, not actually seen it in a video or writing, correct? In fact, I just confirmed on his website this: “if you are in debt, tithing should be a priority.”

Stewardship is also a command. This you must give more than you can give responsibly, if you want to get x y z is not Biblical.
Really disappointed in this. God provides us enough to give, He does not command us to shirk the responsibilities He has given us so we can give more so we will receive from Him.

Randy Alcorn decided to protest abortion clinics and was arrested multiple times. He was fined and sued and lost. He refused to pay, then rearranged his book royalties , quit working so there wasn’t any income to garnish and transferred all his assets to his wife. All because he thought he could break existing law, then rebelled at paying the price of breaking the law.
So you can break the law (even if unjust) and run from the consequences?
Does God require us to rebel against the government to be a good Christian?
Did Jesus come to rescue all the babies that were thrown on the garbage dump in Jerusalem?
I get that each of us has matters of conscience and we need to weigh what God is asking us to do. No pro life person wants to reward abortion clinics. But this thing that Randy did has always bothered me because it seems shady.
