Joko is great! Joko for President, seriously, the most helpful engineering videos! He´s a true teacher! The only subscribtion I never regreted! BIG THANKS for all your work, doing these videos!!!
Thank you for your videos. I've professionally used NX, Catia and Creo. I have a strong interest in learning FreeCAD for personal use for two reasons: no way I can afford the aforementioned CAD suites, and I have a goal of running my home computer off Linux only. Your videos will help make that a reality!
It needs a cope and a mitre command to be useful for modelling structural framing. I'd suggest the developers look at how the cope and mitre commands work within Revit to see the functionality I'm talking about. FreeCAD is starting to look quite promising open source software now.
I worked through that this evening. Very nice workbench and very nice excercise :) Thank you :) I had to do it twice as I clicked the Ok button in the Frame Branch Manager combo view, which overlaid all the frame work again which was very confusing. The workbench really needs a warning for any time Ok is clicked after being clicked once. I realised what I had done when I watched your video to the end and saw you do it ! Additionally I decided to delete the 4 short sections around the frame and extend the longer lengths from 1040 mm to the full height of 1540 mm. I found that "Get Targets" --> selecting the distance between the furthest faces, and --> "Trim/Extend" did not extend the lengths to 1540 mm. I had to do this manually, but I got there. Thanks again. Great tutorial. :)
Not sure if the software has been updated, but this no longer works. When extruding the second pad, it automatically starts the draw from the best of the first pad so instead of having two pads to select, the second envelopes the first. I've done exactly the same as in the video. Or I must have a setting different somewhere.
Your tutorials go well, most of us have issues and things go wrong often, so please can we have more "mistakes" covered, why they occur and how to recover, particularly is it is not obvious a mistake is made until later and the mistake is now embedded into the model. Cover "checkgeometry" and what the error messages tell you. Thanks.
Thank you very much for this Dodo tutorial! Unluckily I fail already with the 2nd pad - FreeCad shows no edges between the two boxes, just one large box. Calling Dodo results in "module 'FreeCAD' has no attribute 'DraftWorkingPlane'". Any idea what I'm doing wrong right in the beginning? I use 0.19 / 22960 from 08.11.2020. Using your model from GrabCad, everything works fine, all edges are visible and I can open the Dodo WB.
interesting workbench and a good intro to it. One key question and perhaps I missed it in the video. Mitre joints? Please tell me this can handle that fundamental. Cheers.
I try to cover this topic at 11:40, unfortunately it looks like I can't do a corner. It doesn't seem apparent in the documentation that this is possible yet either.
@@JokoEngineeringhelp ah. I was looking for a more overt mention/discussion of mitre joints. I found that particular shape with the mixed channels and bar a bit messy to follow. Was probably watching it too tired. Made more sense when I knew that was the area you were trying to cover angled trims. I hope mitre joints are in there just not obvious else it’s well ... a bit of a dodo. 😂

please do a tutorial on end joints and options , then can the whole thing be turned into a cutting list . You clearly work with cad ,,, i work with steel , this could be very handy , but the end joint thing is vital.
do you know of a way that Dodo could be used to output Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, perhaps by having something crawl the model and create a table or flow chart?

This wb has potential!
I was amused by the dodo bird flying across the bottom of the screen.
I'm so glad someone appreciated that
can you make this parametric allowing for the beam to be adjusted or can you change the beam placement after creation without making a new beam

Great for MakerBeam or V-Profile, it will be perfect if it will get angle trim support in future
Wow i am looking at building a 3d printer this is going to make life so much easier.
Very exciting, very similar to the weldments feature in solidworks.
Nice, This is a life saver.
Dodo bird is a nice effect!

The techdraw workbench is the closest thing I know for making a diagram, which probably is not helpful for what your'e looking for

Can we do mitered corners? I didn’t see where you can do that.
That would be a very useful feature for me.

7:23 how do you make the body inside the frame disappear?
With the frame selected press the space bar to toggle visibility
