Extended Interview?? Bro give that man at least an hour to speak, you didn't even scratch the surface... But thanks for being one of the first mainstream platforms to open up to him though
No he's not. He's talented but he's not a genius. Most musical geniuses do jazz, not pop. He just has a really strong voice. But he's no musical genius. Julius Rodriguez, Emmet Cohen, Allyn Johnson. Those are musical geniuses. People need to stop overusing the word.
@@af2k368 um, could you list off the amount of "pop stars" that make the same musical decisions he does? Just wondering cause most of current pop makes me sick to my stomach
Jacob doesn't just have perfect pitch, he has the ability to hear notes by their wavelength. There's a video where he plays notes on a tuned piano, then explains how pianos are tuned, and then sings the notes that the keys should be playing based on actual wavelength instead of relative pitch. It's completely wild.
That is perfect pitch tho. Like *actual* perfect pitch. It's extremely rare, but not impossible. I knew someone who was the son of a pipe organ tuner, his mom tuned pipe organs tubes. So she would take a file and adjust the angle at which the air entered the tube until it was a perfect pitch. I reckon he was able, too, to tell the difference between equal temperament and absolute pitch. A great violin maker trained from a young age, in the past, would be able to do this as well. I think Jacob might be one of the very last human beings with this capacity. It's sadly dying :(
@@jas_bataille Exactly. However....you say it's dying. TBH, this is a skill you either have or you don't, it's not exactly what I'd call a trainable skill. I mean you CAN train it, like anything in life you can get better at it, but I guarantee only those who naturally have this skill will get far with it.
Saw him rip it at Glastonbury this year but seeing Jacob, Maddison Cunningham and Chris Thile at the Union Chapel was genuinely the best gig I’ve ever seen
I hope he never stops doing audience choirs. Because even in a well lit studio on a daytime talk show, it brings me to tears. It's so beautiful to see people united like that.
If Jacob was American : Interviewer : "What's your secret?" Jacob : "When I was just a little boy, I went from Carol Channing to Sylvester Stallone overnight. Then Quincy Jones signed me up!" Interviewwer : Understandable
jacob is musicians musician, huge percentage of his audience know how to sing very well, not many can do what he does with their audiences. this is not his audience so he's smart not to risk too much
Im sure Jason is a great young gun however i know the jelouse English pigs hold a lot of talent back to push ther own so i dont buy into any of them now.

😂right! It's still very beautiful to watch though😂
Maybe that is “extended”, a whole 5:28, in a world of UA-cam short clips? 😂 definitely a misleading title
I could watch him all day long
He doesn't sound like a musical genius! HE IS A MUSICAL GENIUS!
Of course she knows, she want to make the audience aware of it. Perfect crowd work.

He is in fact a musical genius. He is a joy!
I bet even the audience didn't know they could sound like that😮❤!

Frequency, not wavelength
@@santoshvenkataramani oh my gosh you're right, thanks for the accurate correction.
Yay!!!😊 the world is discovering the living legend
Aside from being a musical genius, I love the way he dresses. Quite unique.
Jacob is amazing. Started following his videos during the pandemic, and even then it was clear that he'd become world famous! 👏
Jacob Collier is a truly special being who creates musical magic wherever he goes! ❤
We love jennifer hudson and jacob collier

I'm so glad he got to give them a taste of the audience choir!

Would have enjoyed Jennifer be more of a musician with Jacob than a talk show host. He IS a musical genius!
Jacob doesn't sound like a musical genius... he is in fact one...

Jacob not trusting this audience to do all the pitch changes he usually directs, lol.

She is a terrible host
its hilarious that she said we are having a "musician moment," like they are even remotely on the same level talent/ability wise.
But they both are musicians and maybe 1% of the crowd are musicians.
But sure, be judgemental.
I say this as a Jacob Collier fan: put some respect on Jennifer Hudson's name. she's got pipes
