lol I agree it's real tough...I mean I'm not a native English speaker but it's the official language in our state then we have the national language, the common dialect for different tribes to communicate and there's the common dialect of each tribes and the village dialect so I have to learn 1 language 3 dialects besides english lol and I'm not good at any one of them
If you study 2 or 3 months of a certain language, you get kidnapped and sent to that country and speak the basic native language.....your good to get back home!

Laoshu reminded us what language learning is all about. Connecting with people. Even if its brief--even if its simple. Its not just about how many flash cards you can memorize or what grammar points you've mastered. Its about the love and the joy of connection with other human beings around the world. The smile on people's faces when he spoke their native languages was so genuine. He brought a bit of their home back to them, and in doing so, warmed their heart. You will be sorely missed, Laoshu. Thanks for sharing your passion with the world and inspiring so many of us.

I head Furzhouneze is the rarest dialect of china and may be in danger of dying, maybe this is the reason why is so emotional for her since most chineses don't even speak this dialect.

It's so foreign in western countries because the entire lingual foundation is from a different branch of humanity, so it's not common for people to learn it.

Chinese people are very fond with their culture. For a foreigner to be interested in their culture and to ACTUALLY speak mandarin or cantonese is always surprising for them. You can't imagine the amount of respect they have for those guys.

Yeah, a few more nudges there and he can get the accenting right. Well, it's a bit better than how most foreigners would speak Filipino, but he does have that lack of correct accenting and thus his speech is a tad monotone, but it's still better than what I've heard off of some other people. Then again, like what he said; So what? His goal is *to connect with people all over the world with different cultures*. It's true that it's indeed nifty to become proficient and fluent in a number of languages but Moses has a differing, wholesome goal. It's also a thing that he enjoys, let the fella do his thing.
Its impressive to learn so many languages even if it is the same phrases. "Moreover" he is a clear example that anyone can learn many languages if they study hard enough.
If you watch older video's you can also see he improved a lot so yeah it's a bullshit argument
Moreover learning a language is like playing GTA. You can follow the story line and complete it but that completion wont give you as lasting entertainment as the freeroam feature will.
I dont want to be a master of any language, i want to build as many bridges as possible, to connect with my community.
There are 320,000~ people in my city and less than 50% are white. Learning only a second or third language to fluency wont benefit me enough as learning communicable degrees of various dialects and sub languages.
It's also very difficult to be fluent in all those languages, Moses has a good enough understanding to converse with people without getting stuck, that's more than I can say for his haters, who probably speak 2 or 3 languages at most

If I ever met him & he spoke to me in my other language, I wouldn't have a problem with him not being proficient!

@@irvinalexanderflores I started getting obsessed with his videos about 5-6 months before he died, I had 3 of his videos on my browser when I found out he died, I was a big fan of juice wrld and was hurt by his death but this one was WAY worse. I genuinely cried due to how unexpected it was. He inspired thousands of people, such a horrible loss.

It's not that hard. When they say "English is the most difficult language" they aren't kidding. If you can speak English, other languages can be learned quite easily. First thing I do is to learn all of the BAD words so I know not what to say. Then learn the basic conjunctures followed by verbs and nouns. Native speakers can unusually fill in the rest for you and correct you from there.

Polish, Finnish, Greek, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese (either Mandarin or Cantonese) are all way harder than English. Not to mention the exposure to English through media (movies, music etc.) which makes it much easier to learn and speak..

Here in my country we're born bilingual(English and FIlipino) some are trilingual (+Cebuano). From there we can easily learn spanish or indonesian (close languages to filipino).
Currently I'm fluent in English Filipino, and can understand Spanish, Italian, and French (they're so similar). Im studying Japanese, and Russian, right now.

Very true. I went to a Korean barbershop and had normal conversation with the women that lead to me saying I was stationed in South Korea for a bit but forgot most of what I picked up. When they asked me what I still remembered I said the standard "hello" "thank you" and such... but then I said "shit" (what a taxi driver yelled out once when there was a traffic jam)...

For people like the Albanians guys, I love their reactions... it's a language that's spoken pretty much in only their country so finding someone else who knows it must be a real thrill. Millions of people speak languages like Mandarin, French, Spanish... but one as rare as Albanian gets them really excited :)

one of the bigger take aways from laoshu's videos is how diverse Columbus is.... speaking as someone who was born and raised in hawaii, a place which has a reputation for being very diverse, it is astounding how many different groups of people you run across in the heartland.
