The bit about Bond checking his cuffs or making sure his tie is always centered correctly is actually a long running joke all through the series ever since Connery.
I thought you were going to call out 007 for wearing a dive watch with a suit. I personally have no problem with it but a lot of people take issue with it and consider it a style mistake.
I agree. I've got the Casio MDV-106 Duro (A seamaster look-alike) and I love wearing it with my suits. Especially with different straps, like the standard rubber strap, a Nato strap, and a stainless steel bracelet.
This video is a 10/10. I enjoyed how you review and explain styles, but your overwhelming positivity and grounded nature deserves a quick acknowledgment. Cheers 🥃
I honestly think OMEGA fits the james bond character anyway. I mean what best fits a movie about a suave, risk-taking special agent better then the watch brand known for innovation and going places never before gone. While rolex is def a great brand they have stagnated, while bond Is everchanging and adapting to the situation he is in. OMEGA IMO is a much better choice for bond.
James Bond was in the British Royal Navy, members of the BRN were issued the Omega Seamaster. Even if Ian Fleming wrote that Bond wore a Rolex, Omega was always the best watch for James Bond.
You're not alone, its going to take quite a long time before guys stop wearing suits that they paid a lot of money to get tailored, they're not going to stop just because someone said the tight fitting style is passe.
Daniel Craig looks awesome in his suit.If you have such a figure you can wear it You can hear a lot of envy in the video: if you have a different figure you have to wear a different suit; you have to find your own style.
Slight correction here, in the books James Bond does not actually wear a Rolex explorer. He wears a Rolex oyster. Misconception comes from the fact that Ian Fleming personally owned a Rolex explorer model 1016 but in the novel on her Majesty Secret Service Fleming makes a pretty clear that the watch is a Rolex oyster(yes I am a nerd)
I'm always armed, so I've always gone with a loose cut whether a suit or casual. But day-to-day, I like to blend in, not stand out. So I rock the grayman look.
6:26 I love brown shoes. I prefer the organic tone of an organic material but for me the key to getting away with it is to show intent by coordinating like materials. If going brown shoes match to brown belt, wallet and of course watch-strap if your ticker is lashed down with leather today. 🤔
Roger Moore : I don't care, I have Tissot and I wear it in the film, I have Rolex and I wear it in the film, but wearing Hamilton, fine. Wearing Seiko, fine. Sean Connery : Gruen first, Rolex later. But Breitling? Sure. Timothy Dalton : Gimme Heuer George Lazenby : How about you give me a pre-Daytona 6238? Pierce Brosnan : sure I'll be cloth hangar for or Omega Daniel Craig : *AMIGAAA GIMME THOSE AMIGAAA*
i got a suit too tight...I was influenced by Bond. Big mistake... its very uncomfortable ... If i gain 2lbs then the jacket wont button ! I basically need to do a fast the day before I plan to wear it
Monochrome color clothing, esp. black helps cover up blood stain perfectly. A watch is a watch. They all tell time. James Bond is there to kill, not to impress. So Rolex or Omega or Casio, none of which is really matter
The proper watch with formal or semi-formal attire is a dress watch. However, I wear my Rolex (not a dress watch) because, thanks to James Bond, it has become accepted.
My first introduction to James Bond was Roger Moore. And I have watched damn-near all the other James Bond movies, but I have to say that even though Roger Moore was my first introduction to the character, I can see why so many people say there is only one James Bond - that being Sean Connery.
The Omega watch was Jean-Claude Biver’s idea- Omega’s Sales & Marketing Manager at the time. The “side note” is actually who the custom designer was; she didn’t have a choice, as the business decision had been made, and simply incorporated it.
Knives Out 1 is peak Craig fashion in my opinion. Had that same gravitas as Bond. He walks into a room and you NOTICE. But the cuts are a bit looser, more realistic, and therefore at least cinematically, professional. He's a detective. Not a super agent.
I prefer the seamaster to the submariner. It's less copied, slightly more affordable, super functional and high quality as well as very attractive. Win-win in my opinion.
British and Italian suits have always been cut closer the American that tend towards the more boxy cut Also a splash of colour is the last thing someone blending in wants
Great analysis of the Bond "style" over the years and I agree with so much of it. But can we get some love for the work that was done on Kingsman: The Secret Service. Part parody, part love letter to the Bond series, but the mens' tailoring was great.
James bond also wore a Tag Heuer night diver and a couple of Casio when digital watches were all the rage in the 70's Also Omega was saved from going under by James Bond, the Company was in a bad way, the films turned their business around.
When Fleming wrote the Bond books, Rolex was considered a high quality rough and tumble tool watch. It fit Bond perfectly. But today, Rolex is no longer a tool watch. It's a watch people wear to get noticed--something a secret agent does not want. So the lower key Omega watch is better choice today.
Great video Antonio. Every opinion has some validation regarding the watch Bond wears. Some stick to the novels. Others, the movies. If I may offer my opinion. Speaking to the "style" of Bond. Iconic always gets brought up. When you think of what he wears, its always a tux. Yes he wears a suit, but when anyone puts on a tux for a wedding or something, Bond comes to mind. When you hear someone order a martini, you think of Bond. Bond does drink many other drinks but the vodka martini is iconic to Bond. When anyone sees an Aston Martin, yup Bond again. It's iconic to his style. Even though his personal car in the novels was a Bentley Continental. No one thinks of Bond when they see a Bentley. I would even say those who say or argue Rolex is the watch of Bond, not the Omega; when you see an Omega, you think of Bond. When you see a Rolex, you think of a Wall St exec or something. I'm sure people would say he gets the watch and car issued by Q branch. And that may be true. But those issued items are Bond. Much the Walther. The Omega, the Aston Martin, vodka martinis, tuxedo, the Walther; all go with Bond. Its like peanut butter and Jelly. If you look at the parody movies over the years, they steal these iconic looks. Johnny English in a Tuxedo or something. Austin Powers with a "shag-uar".
I like his style I took a few pointers from James Bond when developing my own. But I I really don’t seek to be a copy cat. Omega watches go great with suits but if you can only afford one go with the color black because it goes with everything
QOS is how Tom Ford himself would prefer his suit to fit that way. Skyfall had a terrible costume director where his suit looks budget office grade. They ruined TF in that one. Spectre, Daniel Craig bulked up since his last fitting and they didn't want to admit the costume director messed that up so they decided to call it a trend. NTTD was less terrible. Tom Ford is a polite man and it won't benefit him to express his disappointment in the costume directors. Next tailor needs to be English. Perhaps someone from Savile Row. Huntsman belongs to Kingsman already. I think it should go to someone like Richard Anderson. But if he's in Italy, then Brioni.
I think Omega is a better fit for James Bond. The brand identity fits him better and realistically I think Rolex has a brand Identity that doesn’t suit the character. Both brands have great options and I will admit I am an Omega fan.
Agreed, he looks like a Bookies runner. On the other hand that 40ml explorer is too big for you, look up a vintage 36 it'll look less like you got trapped under a clock. Bond wears a Rolex, Omega paid to play, not authentic.
Rolex is Rolex...... Omega is Swatch Group lol I would vote Seiko anyway (the brand that made Omega the Swatch Groups plaything), but JB really should wear a British watch ; )
Oh man, that was THE time to purchase as many Rolex sports models as one could afford. Imagine having loaded up on Pepsi's and Paul Newman's when they were giving them away. A fortune could have been made while people were enthralled with quartz watches.
I’m sorry but there isn’t much that gets me more triggered than the people who say James Bond suits were too tight in the movies! They looked incredible and fit perfectly to his body! Some people that can’t pull off a trimmer suit want you to look like a used car salesman with a box for clothes! His style was great in those movies and the suits were perfect. Stop this nonsense
05:04 In a case (as my mother used to say) of "Do as I say... not as I do", I've never really found this gentleman's clothes to fit all that well. In video after video, his suits and shirts always seem a bit too snug. Case in point, freeze the frame here (05:04) and see how his jacket sleeves are all "puckered up" because they are too tight. His shirt collar also seems a bit rumpled. Seriously, I am not trying to be overly critical, but in the parlance of our time, "Just sayin'".

Whatever your opinion, I am pretty sure no one looked cooler, sexier & more suave that Daniel in the entire history of bond movie. Sorry, but 007 it is supposed to be the example of sexy and elegance. Navel T shirt and a tie with shirt with buttons on the neck... might be sexy on Craig but it's not elegant on anyone.
From the books, somewhere: “Bond detested lace-up shoes.” So he wore what Fleming called “moccasins.” And perhaps Chelsea boots in really bad weather. However, I suspect that in a karate fight such shoes might have gone flying off his foot with one good kick so my advice to Bond, if I were Q, would be to go with monk-straps.
Antonio, stop this nonsense brother! Don’t fall for the trash loose boxy take on clothes that look terrible! This channel has lost the plot the past few years being influenced by the wrong crowd. You used to be about well fitted clothes that look great on your body and tailored perfectly… now you make videos to please who exactly??
Bond doesn't choose his watch it's issued by Q. The guy's official cover is commander in the royal navy and I bet he only has a modest salary as well for security reasons.
@mastergod700 I have to disagree- leather brown shoes should never be worn with any suit other than a Tweed one. But brown or sand coloured suede shoes, in both Oxford or Brogue styles can be worn with a dark or formal suit may be worn for relaxed social occasions or wherever there is a particular established social practice to do so.
Tight cut suits were actually a gay thing (no literally). Bond's 'style' was never really stylish, just British 'posh kid' tailoring. In recent decades he should have gone for an actual stylish Italian look.
It depends on the I.T. guy. I’ve seen dudes wearing something like a herringbone blazer and dress shirt with jeans. What you’re referring to is the stereotype I.T. guy lol
