Photoshop CS6: PenTool - Beginner

This is a Photoshop CS6 tutorial on the Pen Tool which is great for silhouetting images with hard smooth and or curved lines. I also show how to make the path that you create with the pen tool into a layer mask and/or a vector mask. The photos that I used came from BigStock.com

Thank you :) this is the most complete explanation of learning this tool.
I was tracing a picture, but turned it to a black fill, then became curious as to how to put my own colors on the eyes of my pic, etc.
The problem was i was ending up with the line that i traced after completing it and closing up the selection process.
My search led me here and i believe this answered my question with masking or vector mask.
