Keith, I don't know if Stay-brite 8 solder is available in the UK. If it is, you have a product that lies between soft solder and all out brazing. Claims are made that the stuff is at least a fair match for brazing in HVAC applications. Highly superheated steam may make it melt, but 200 deg. C. seems OK. Given it's lead free and high in silver content, the price is high.

The melting point is far too low for live steam applications over 50PSI. Steam Temperature & Pressure are relative to each other.
