After trying out Vaseline on Silver Gelatin Prints I'd thought I would try Baby Oil and also Vegemite in order to soften portraits and give a creative look. Featuring George the Shih Tsu.

I regularly diffuse my images useing a anti-newton glass from a 6x6 slide mount, depending on how long it's held under the enlarger dictates how much diffusion on the print. Works wonders for the right image. Great tutorial once again!

Good work I’ve always used a Cokin P830 Diffuser 1 filter when I take portraits of women and get a in camera diffused negative. Sometimes I use it to soften up other images in the enlarger. It’s a very high-quality way of doing it but it’s cool to have other options and creative tools. Thanks for the videos!

We don't have Vegemite here, but I'm definitely going to try the baby oil. I like the effect. An old darkroom book I have says that diffusing in-camera affects highlights more while doing it in the darkroom tends to affect the shadows more.

I think instead of Vegemite, you should try strawberry jam, the red colour would bring the contrast back 😁 The baby oil looks nice, I'm going to try that myself.
