I know. I had already been looking at Sketch; this just clarified that those are what I want. They sound better in every way, except price - and I'm good enough at saving money that I can live with the price in exchange for the benefits.

So not a bad deal. The only thing is that I have to check for duplicates. Good luck to you and I hope that the tip on Michael's will help you.
Thank you! This video answered my questions and helped me decide which product will best suit me. I had no idea what the differences were, and at this price point I didn’t want to spend a fortune to find out. Thanks again.
thanks for this video. My mom bought be a small set of Ciao markers, but I didn't know what the difference was between those and the Sketch set I already had. Now, I'm guessing she bought it because it cost less.
Tbh, they've probably been collecting for a while. Or they're just good at saving. I'm certainly not rich; but because I'm really good at saving up, I can technically afford the entire Copic Sketch range right now. It'll cut into my savings a little (bringing me down from almost eight thousand dollars to about five thousand), but I can afford it even though I make minimum wage. I've actually been tossing up over whether to buy them all in one hit and build my savings back up (which I should be able to do in time for Christmas as long as I'm good about my spending and don't spend all my money on junk food), or buy a set at a time.

That's because Copic Original holds the most ink while Copic Ciao holds lesser ink. Also, Copic Original has more nib options while Ciao has only two. Ciao is also meant for beginners, if that matters to you.
the beginner part is not true at all. Many artists who are amazing still use ciao. they also use mechanical pencils and ballpoint pens. the materials NEVER make the artist. that was just a silly point

Thanks for this video. I have the sketch because I love the brush nib, its fantastic. I have all 358 colors but it took me like 3-4 years to add these all to my collection which is really the best way to do it. The copic app is so fantastic no more buying duplicates because you have a list of all your colors that you cary around on your phone. I have a question... what do you mean you get 12 refills w the sketch do you mean until you have to get a new marker I didn't understand that....Thanks!!!!
There are refill you can buy. With one refill you can refill the marker 12x. He’s comparing how many time 1 refill can refill the markers. You save money in the long run :)
I really wanted to see you use the fine tips on all the markers; I have been looking to buy copics, and am considering ciao due to cost, but I want to make sure if the non augmented ciao markers are the same sketch nib as the copic sketch markers.
I am so glad I only bought 2 copic originals. I live in Australia and I went to officeworks and bought 2 skin tones and I watched some videos and I realised my ones didn't bend down
I recommend copic and copic sketch for professional artists who have large experience with alcohol based markers and copic ciao for slightly less experienced. If you are watching this you probably want copic ciao
Hm. This was pretty informative for me! I picked up the a pack copic ciao in brights. It was missing a marker so I got the pack for 75% off and I couldn’t really pass up trying the copic brand!
do you mean the colors or the amount? The Copic Ciao has both the least amount of colors and the least amount of ink but it is still the best value because not many people can afford all 358 sketch markers ($1,850) and while Ciaos have less colors most people can afford the whole entire set (180 colors for $600) which is only a third of the price for half the amount of colors.
Copic Sketch has 358 colors. Who needs 358 colors? I dont even think professional artists needs that many. Copic sketch and Copic Ciao is the EXCACT same marker, just different name? Yes, Copic Ciao holds less ink, but you can refill it 3 times more than the sketch. I see no reason why buying the sketch when its the excact same markers just different price.
@@Adrian-wd4rn What I ment with 3 times more is + 3 times. So if sketch can refill 14 times, then ciao 17. Im not a native english speaker so shut the fuck up
@Obsidian Breaker You understand what im saying? With one whole refill, you can REFILL one ciao marker more times than a sketch. It makes it C.H.E.A.P.E.R
Mavlyn Msp yeah but why is being able to refill it more times a positive thing? It’s just because that it’s smaller (like you said). I still like the ciao though I think it’s a better investment especially for non professionals
The Ciaos might be good for those who are new to Copics but aren't the originals good too? Sure you might be paying more initially but 1) they have more colour options and 2)They have more nib options which allows for more flexibility. As well as they hold the most ink, which matters because in my experience, most casual artists (me included) if they are not already familiar with alcohol based markers are not used to pressing the marker down lightly.
I mean Ciaos are the best if you don't know how to use alcohol markers because you're a casual artist. I only said that because you don't press 'lightly' on the paper. Also who needs 358 colors do you realize that's $1,850 if you're buying them new, plus nibs are expensive if you buy for all of your markers.
I only have one copic marker and that will be my final one. Even on 140lb watercolour paper the darn thing bleeds straight through where my Tombow Dual Brush water based markers do not bleed through at all. What sort of unique paper do you use with Copic alcohol based markers....AND buying and moreso finding the accessories such as ink and nibs in Australia for anything like a reasonable price (if you can find them at all) would be the greatest problem.
I like the sketch way more. It bothers me that the numbers aren't on the cap. It also bothers me to have 2 different types of markers that dont match. I want them all to be uniform. But I'm gonna get some ciaos for now because of the price. But its gonna bother me
Just to be sure, all the 3 markers use the same ink, right? So there is no loss of ink quality between original and ciao. What is my money saved on, if I were to start with the ciao instead of sketch? Is it just the size?
You get LESS ink in Ciaos, cause it's a much smaller barrel. So they probably make the money back on refills and the fewer materials needed to make the markers.
I do have the Copic Caio but I didn’t know the difference between the other options but this video was very helpful! I’m very grateful I have these expensive markers in my possession but I’m very happy I have the Caio as I think when you buy the refills you get more... use out of it? Like even tho it can’t hold as much ink it actually turns to be a positive as you can refill the pen a lot more times which means you don’t have to spend as much money on refills
what would you recommend us to buy? please reply. because I want the copic original because it's squared shaped (I love squared shaped markers!) but a lot of people said it was uncomfortable to hold. A lot of people said the copic sketch are the most comfortable to hold so I don't know what I'm gonna buy. So please reply!
are you on a budget? if you are buy the ciaos. They may be a little smaller but work like the sketch, only with less colors and less ink. If you are on a budget it doesn't matter how the marker feels in your hands as long as its not uncomfortable because trust me, sketch markers and originals are expensive AS HECK. You might as well buy more Ciaos that feel okay in your hand than less sketch markers that feel great in your hand. If you aren't on a budget buy the sketch because I feel like they are just the right size and are comfortable but the ciao feels nice too. Originals are a bit chunky and I find it hard to grip sometimes but it may just be that I have small hands
This wasn't very helpful when it comes to determining how comfortable it is to hold and how well it draws I'm sorry but personally this wasn't very helpful for me
They all seem to draw the same, based on what I've seen. The only real difference - the fact that one of them doesn't come with a brush nib - is EXPLAINED in the video. As for which is the most comfortable to hold, that's more of a personal thing. He can't really tell you what YOU like.
They all draw the same but the original has quite a bit more ink than the others the original has a bullet/find nib and a chisel/broad nib (Whatever you call the nibs) And the ciao and sketch have a brush nib and a chisel/broad nib.
Idrawe_ all of them are basically the same just they all have different barrels and ink amounts and the original has a fine nib instead of a brush nib :)
I bought a brand new Copic Sketch 72A it was wrapped sealed the only thing that was there was the label from a seller in Japan for $190.00 free shipping it about 5 days to receive. I experimenting with them now I really like them. Thank you for the info, I will check out Amazon my goal is to get all 350+ colors.
Amazon only works out if you live in the US. Their shipping cost to the country I live in is RIDICULOUS, even by our shipping standards. I've never seen an online store with worse shipping costs.
Chowie One Sketch is about $5-10 dollars. One Ciao is about $2-8 dollars Buying all of the sketches will cost you about: $1886.40. Buying all of the Ciaos will cost you about: $516.90 or $646.20. Btw the prices I'm saying on total is only on Dickblick, otakufuel, & other online places.
Depends on how much of a budget you're on. For me, the benefits of the Sketches (more time between refills, more colours, better looking, etc) are worth the extra price, because I have the money to afford it.
Here in Korea Copic sketches and originals are $3.9, Ciaos are $2.9 (on online shop!) I had thought it's expensive but I just realised seeing comments here that it's not expensive at all compared to other countries 😂
Japan and Korea Copic's price are cheap. I can buy 36 set of ciaos for only Rp2.000.000+-, meanwhile in indonesia, it's gonna be Rp3.500.000+- :'( (I live in Indonesia)
I would say you still get a good use out of them. I can use them for around a few months to a year (depending on how often I draw). If I draw every day and color it in I get about 3 months of use without it getting all screechy and giving uneven amounts of ink.
Here is why the copic ciao is better.... ITS CHEAPER THAN THE REST.
Yees
AyyAlyssa it’s not even much worse though

kaylee jones also, he said they are all good.
Copic Sketch is the most comfortable :)
They all seem to draw the same, based on what I've seen. The only real difference - the fact that one of them doesn't come with a brush nib - is EXPLAINED in the video.
As for which is the most comfortable to hold, that's more of a personal thing. He can't really tell you what YOU like.
They all draw the same but the original has quite a bit more ink than the others the original has a bullet/find nib and a chisel/broad nib
(Whatever you call the nibs)
And the ciao and sketch have a brush nib and a chisel/broad nib.
Copic ciaos are on sale now at Michael's buy 3 get 1 free. Go get em!
You could have used all the tips in the paper so I could see the difference of ciao and scetch.
Guys which kind of copic would you suggest is the best, I’m looking for soft blend and great quality.
Idrawe_ all of them are basically the same just they all have different barrels and ink amounts and the original has a fine nib instead of a brush nib :)
thank youuu
Very helpful, thanks!
Very very good 😁😁😁
I got a 12 pack of copic ciao for Christmas. My first copics 😍
The complete opposite for my country, the ciao is everywhere and the sketch and classic are nowhere lol
Now where can I pick some up at a reasonable price, that is an entire question in itself.
Haha the ultimate question indeed!
Amazon.com sells copic markers from prices like 8 or 7 dollars to as low as 5.
Bobby Herrera No problem. If you can also try your local arts and crafts stores like Michael's and Hobby Lobby.
Amazon only works out if you live in the US. Their shipping cost to the country I live in is RIDICULOUS, even by our shipping standards. I've never seen an online store with worse shipping costs.
Thank you, best advise out there, c
do you think its better (for the money) to get the ciao or the sketch.. id love to buy them i dont know which one would be better for the money
Chowie
One Sketch is about $5-10 dollars.
One Ciao is about $2-8 dollars
Buying all of the sketches will cost you about: $1886.40.
Buying all of the Ciaos will cost you about: $516.90 or $646.20.
Btw the prices I'm saying on total is only on Dickblick, otakufuel, & other online places.
Rock Lee Thankyou
Depends on how much of a budget you're on. For me, the benefits of the Sketches (more time between refills, more colours, better looking, etc) are worth the extra price, because I have the money to afford it.
sorry this may be a stupid question but i dont get when u say"it may get this much refills"
Cause you can refill the markers. He's basically telling you how many refills ONE bottle of ink will get you.
I just got 3 72 colors. Classic. Or original. I wanted the sketch. I’m stupid. 😭
Here in Korea Copic sketches and originals are $3.9, Ciaos are $2.9 (on online shop!)
I had thought it's expensive but I just realised seeing comments here that it's not expensive at all compared to other countries 😂
Japan and Korea Copic's price are cheap. I can buy 36 set of ciaos for only Rp2.000.000+-, meanwhile in indonesia, it's gonna be Rp3.500.000+- :'( (I live in Indonesia)
I WISH THEY MADE THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION MARKERS IN 72 SETS! ID BUY THEM ALL!! I LOVE THE BRUSH AND THE BULLET!!!!!
I was waiting for him to announce a giveaway😂😂😂😂
Haha maybe in the future ;)
should I use the original or the sketch cause this is my first time using it
Since it's your first time, try out sketch
Soh Vicky For your first time, don't use sketch, but try ciao. They are the cheapest and best for a beginner.
try the ciao because if you are new I don't think you need a lot of ink. If you need more ink you can always buy refills.
Bruh what paper is that? It seems good
begging my mum to get me these!! 💞
Do copic ciao's dry out fast?
Dry up? what do you mean? Run out of ink?
I would say you still get a good use out of them. I can use them for around a few months to a year (depending on how often I draw). If I draw every day and color it in I get about 3 months of use without it getting all screechy and giving uneven amounts of ink.
why there are copic sketch since there are the original copics that share the same function?
and have more colours, and are a little bit less expensive.
I personally prefer ciao. It’s cheaper, and more comfortable and easy to work with.
I would use a copic sketch in the body of the original
copic classic has gotten cheaper recently, I have a pack of 72 on the way and I cannot wait!
I prefer Coptic ciao because it can be refilled 15 times
Who else is like OMG THATS A BULLIT NIB AND A CHISEL NIB
Actually copic sketch holds the most ink then original then ciao
He didn’t try the brush nib...... I was going to buy the Copic original
