- Two simple Polaris mountain sled maintenance items that are commonly over looked and misunderstood are track tension and alignment. If either one or both are not properly maintained you can experience decreased performance and premature wear or damage to your sled. In this video we discuss how to adjust both periodic maintenance items and problems that can occur if not maintained.
Trying to get the right angle with an open end wrench on the lock nut can be difficult to say the least. I have found a 12 point flare nut wrench works awesome to tighten the lock nut on the adjuster bolts. Twelve points gives you more angle options for the wrench when working through the rail window. If you don't want to buy a 12-point flare nut wrench you can make one out of a box end wrench you don't care about. Simply cut a slot in the box end wide enough to go over the adjuster bolt. It won't have as much strength against spreading open as a true flare nut wrench but should still be enough.
That's a really good idea on making the wrench out of a box end wrench
Another super helpful video! Thanks man!!
Nice video, I’m hoping to get around more this year at Haydays, I don’t think I’m bring any sleds and not lot of “Stuff”, we did keep all 8 swap spots again though not sure what the other Polaris boys are bringing lol
Im excited for hay days this year, haven't been since the 2017 G4 doo was revealed.
Great video and very informative. A+
Perfectly explained content.
thanks!
@@mountainsleddergarage8627 I'm ready for this season. Can't wait. Excited for some serious montana mountains
Keep in mind, 3/4 - 5/8 track tension is not the recommendation for trail sleds... which should be 7/8 - 1 1/8 inches.
Mostly the video was intended for mountain sleds, but good to know the trail sleds are different.
Thanks
Thank you
When spinning the track to check alignment does it matter if the track "coasts" to a stop or you apply the brake? Ie will applying the brake cause the track to shift?
It shouldn't matter if you apply the brake or not.
