I'm coming back to vlogging after a 3 year break. I just wanted to say thank you for creating this amazing demonstration of how the DJI mic 2 works with the DJI action cam. Initially, i was leaning towards a Go Pro Hero 12 black - however, after seeing many vids as well as this one, DJI is clearly the best. Safe riding buddy.
3 things I love about your video, you must be an engineer, or ocd. You explicitly explain exactly what you want to know, clear to understanding, very simple to understand and take in. I love your RE classic and the sound it makes, I hand one also, the 350 and 500 both great bikes. You make the video great put together and interesting, many thanks, safe riding. Cheers
Hi Marc , thanks so much for this clear video and explanation. I'm just about to purchase the Action 4 and nearly bought the Mic 2 pack with 2 transmitters and the receiver but now realise that I don't need the receiver part for motovloging , just connect the mic to the Action 4 by bluetooth . The mics are now available to purchase separately at £89 so if I want to connect another later that's perfect . I'm going to fit the mic 2 like yours on a magnetic tape inside the helmet , thanks for the -12 db setting tip. The remote was always a no brainer to add to my order , £69 but well worth it , no fiddling with the camera buttons ! The plastic button you added to the top of the Action 4 is also a great idea. Thanks again for bothering to upload this video , very timely for me and will help other motovlogers I'm sure. All the best from Southampton , UK. Paul

Oh man 😅 I just purchased the DJI adapter 😂, I definitely like this new set up for sure ! Wireless without the receiver is hands down better ! The audio is also better
I love how you explain everything so clear! thank you. I'm looking to purchase the Action 4 and possibly the mic as well for my motovlog setup! (New Subscriber)
Thanks for covering this for us Motorcycle Riders. One thing to point out in my experience, the LCD Display and rec/pause red/green indicator on the DJI GPS Remote is not visible in sun light. Makes it hard to check the cameras recording or paused unless you have a view of the camera. The camera LED’s are just visible in day light. Also, there is a round 6hrs of battery life (the manual states this) for the DJI MIC2. You would need to be careful that the battery doesn’t go flat on longer rides as you will not record the audio only to find out later.
Perfect test, thank you so much for doing it. You may have just 'sold' me on DJI. So much easier and versatile with the wireless audio. It's painful to setup and sync audio for GoPro. I didn't realise the DJI cameras have the bluetooth mic sync built in - no need for a receiver! Excellent.
Very useful video. I use the DJI Mic 2 with the Rode Lavaller fixed in the helmet but was not an ideal solution, the magnetic tape is a brilliant idea. Thanks for sharing. The Osmo pocket 3 allows to connect 2 DJI Mic 2, just waiting for an update so the the Action 4 also allows this.
Excellent video Marc, really clear and well produced. I was about to buy all the adapters to hook up my DJI Mic (1) with the transmitter, but this beats it by far.

The mic 2 is much better. Just toss it on the magnetic strap and bingo .. you get your awesome sound . You can also use the voice prompt on the Osmo action , start recording, stop recording and shut down while driving. Excellent Marc, just got a action 4 & this is just what I was looking to achieve, well done. I have the same bike in the same colour too, great choice.
I totally agree with you about the GoPros. I also only had problems with these devices. Freezes, crashes, sudden shutdowns even though the battery was full, all very unreliable for an "action" cam. I was always satisfied with the Osmo Actions, very reliable. This solution with the Wireless Mic 2 is very interesting - but also quite expensive. Because basically you only have to bridge 15 cm to the helmet. That would also work with a LavMic. But then you have to fiddle with the cable again. I guess you always have to die a death. :) Thanks for the video!
Excellent overview, especially the DJI Mic 2. I have the action 4, and I also have the action 3. Just checked and no firmware update as yet for the 3. Maybe soon.
I’m still stuck on OA3 and DJIMic. The way the receiver connects directly to the OA3 via USBC is not something that gives confidence. Next option is to mount the receiver on the camera (only with a cage) by hot shoe and then a wired connection to the camera. I’m looking forward to being able to buy the DJI MIC 2 and the OA4 and enjoy the convenience of wireless connections between all units. Biggest tip help is the adhesive magnetic tape. Thank you! I need that to mount the TX1 - DJI MIc inside the helmet. Much thanks for this video.
Such a great video. Thank you for sharing! Do you think mic 2 will work well with a bit louder sports bikes? Im vlogging for more than 7years already. Tried all the solutions but nothing seems to work for me. Is -12 db the lowest it can go?
Very interesting set up in that you don't need a receiver attached to the camera. How do you turn the mic on/off? Does it happen automatically when you turn the camera on? How's the battery life of the mic?
Good Morning Marc, thank you for a very informative and detailed video. I think the DJI Mic 2 sounded better than the RODE Lavalier. Ride Safe & All the Best.

How do you go about preserving/extending battery life for the Mic2?
Great review and walk through! Thank you! Unfortunately, I have some issues. I have that exact setup, DOA4 + Mic 2, and kept losing connection between the mic and the helmet mounted cam. Of course, didn’t see that until after the ride and come to find out that I had zero audio after 15 seconds into a 3 hour ride, with about 15 segments recorded on the DOA4. Probably user error, but twice as bad, as I was shooting a review of the BMW K1600 GTL for my local BMW dealership. Embarrassing beyond measure, I’ll have to go back and see whether I can take the bike out for another run. Apart from that, the image quality of the DOA4 is brilliant! I’ll like add a second DOA4 and the remote, and sell my Insta 360 X3.

Hi, you can connect the receiver only via USB, but you can record a second audio signal directly inside the mic 2 and synchronize it in post. Cheers Marc

I think you’re the first one who tried mixing up both helmet and exhaust sound at the same time, however I’m curious if I can connect up to 2 Dji mic 2 to 1 Dji action cam? As I’m planning to get the Dji mic 2 pack and Dji action cam 4 so one in helmet and another one in exhaust using 32 bit float so the exhaust sound will never clip
Hi Marc, just rewatched this video. Out of curiosity, would the OA4 allow you to use 2 X Mic 2’s at the same time (I doubt this) ? Also, I presume the Mic 2 is capable of storing audio on its own. So essentially, you could have the one in your helmet capturing your voice storing on the OA4, and the one in your back pocket capturing exhaust on it’s own, then link together in post, as you would if you used a zoom h1n or similar.
Hello there is it worth linking the Lavalier mic ,to one cam on the handlebars ,with the mic threaded along the frame to the back to catch exhaust sound, and mic2 in the helmet for spoken audio. Chris
Problem I came across is doing for example long videos with overlay. Longer video cuts in smaller clips usually approx 20 minutes in 4k and data cant be added to merged clips. It can only be added to individual clips and distance always starts from zero. So if you do whole day riding around and want to record distance it wont work. Well it will but every clip distance will start from zero even if it was continuous recording.
That's really helpful Marc. I've just upgraded to an Action 4 to do some Moto vlogging on my new Bullet 350 and I really just wanted the noise of the engine rather than me speaking, but the wind noise from the camera (even with a Windslayer cover on it) is too loud. I'll have to get the Mic 2 so I can stick it in a rucksack like you suggest. This video is exactly what I needed - great job 👍🏻
@@Marc.Stones How does it work with the quick record function? Does it connect to the camera instantly when you hit the record button when the camera is off, or is there a lag whilst it connects?
Hi Marc great video very informative thanks. Just got my first DJI Action 4 but struggling to press the buttons. Could you post a link to the rubber caps please as I can't find them anywhere. Quite excited waiting for my Mic2 to arrive. 😅 Thanks 👍
Thanks for the great info, this is such an awesome set up! For the GPS remote, are you able to start/stop recording for two cameras with one press? Or do you have to control one by one?
thank you for all this information. It was a very helpful, very well-made video. For 2024, that's my new setup for my motorcycle....I run the action 3 since few time.... I like a lot, but with this new Mic2 and the new Remote control gps.... the action 4.... are my new setup. ...
Thanks for the video. Just bought one of these and figuring it out. Love the idea of the magnetic tape. Question--If you are stopping often to run errands, etc., does that mean you have to remember to turn the wireless mic on and off in addition to the camera? And you must probably remove the mic from the helmet to turn it off and back on? Or is there some way it wakes the mic up that I'm missing? Thank you.
Great review! Does the remote control also control a DJI Action 3 camera as well as an Action 4, together? Also, how many wireless DJI mics can you pair with the Action 4?
Mic 2 is on my to-buy list. I recorded 15 hours on trips with just ’wind noise’! Time is now for the mic 2. Can you tell us what editing program you are using? I’m such a ‘newbie’.. lol you put out a quality video with the content I have been seeking. JT in USA north of Chicago.

Hi Marc, I found your channel looking for the mic 2 setup and here I am. Glad I found it. I have two questions. 1. Can you possibly get the second transmiter and connect it to the Action 4 to record the exhaust wirelessly as well? 2. I think I read somewhere that you can start the mic 2 by starting the Action 4, so the question is if you can actually start recording the sound jus by starting recording on the camera? Just asking as I'm definitely not a motovlogger but I would find it useful to record my voice comments every now and then
Hi, you can only pair one transmitter with the DJI action 4. The mic starts recording when you start your OA 4, but you can also record the audio just on the transmitter.
Thanks for this. It’s always easier to learn from other people’s experience 😉👍🏻

You can only connect on DJI Mic 2 with the Action 4. The mic of the exhaust can record internally and you can mix it later in post.
Hi, no you can only connect 1 mic. If you have 2 mic 2's the second one can record audio internally.
The new Action 5 Pro can do this.
@@Whatreally123sure about that? So I can have two different cameras with action 5 and two mic and link them up all together?
Hello there is it worth linking the Lavalier mic ,to one cam on the handlebars ,with the mic threaded along the frame to the back to catch exhaust sound, and mic2 in the helmet for spoken audio. Chris
Hi Chris, of course this is a good method to record the exhaust sound. Cheers Marc
Hi Marc, GREAT VIDEO!!! can you let me know what settings you had the camera while motorvlogging? It was clear as water!
Hi, thanks :-) I am filming in 4K 25 FPS DLOG M Sharpness -1 Cheers Marc
Brilliant informative vid..Thank you so much.
Very good video thank you very much kind regards from Austria
Thanks for your feedback. The Mic 2 works well to record the engine sound.
@@Marc.Stones How does it work with the quick record function? Does it connect to the camera instantly when you hit the record button when the camera is off, or is there a lag whilst it connects?
There is always a lag when it connects.
@@Marc.Stones How much in seconds would you say from when you hit the record button to the video and audio syncing up?
Difficult to say, this is different every time, sometimes fast about 2 seconds, sometimes 10-20 sec.
Hi Marc great video very informative thanks. Just got my first DJI Action 4 but struggling to press the buttons. Could you post a link to the rubber caps please as I can't find them anywhere. Quite excited waiting for my Mic2 to arrive. 😅 Thanks 👍
Hi, thanks :-) I use these ones: amzn.to/3U3wZ9e Cheers
Thanks for the great info, this is such an awesome set up! For the GPS remote, are you able to start/stop recording for two cameras with one press? Or do you have to control one by one?
You can control 2 cameras with the remote. 👍🏻
Sehr gutes Video! Werde es mal ausprobieren
Thanks for helping me with your recommendation of the perfect moto-vlogging setup! Much Obliged! You've now got a new sub!
Thanks a lot for your support Ram 🙏🏻👍🏻
thank you for all this information. It was a very helpful, very well-made video. For 2024, that's my new setup for my motorcycle....I run the action 3 since few time.... I like a lot, but with this new Mic2 and the new Remote control gps.... the action 4.... are my new setup. ...
I use it for a while now and can recommend it ✌
Thanks for the video. Thank you.
Hi, I always leave the micro on, the battery lasts very long, enough for a long ride. Cheers Marc
Great video. I ordered the dji mic2. One question: You mentioned a plasic cover for the Record Button. Can you please specify the details? Thank you.

Thank you for the info. Great video!
Great review! Does the remote control also control a DJI Action 3 camera as well as an Action 4, together? Also, how many wireless DJI mics can you pair with the Action 4?
The remote can only control 2 Action 4s, you can pair only one mic2 with the action 4 .
Vielen Dank für das gut erklärte Video, die zweite Camera ist das auch eine Action 4 ?
Genau 👍
I'm still using the DJI Action 3 and the DJI Mic. Could you put up an affiliate link for you magnetic tape. I'll buy some
This is the one I use and you have to keep the magnets on the mic :

I am going to buy action 4 advantutre combo also mic2. Just tell me mic 2 battery timings??
Fantastic vid. Thankyou so much👍
Thanks for the info . Can you please share the mount setup please?
The helmet mount is from chinmount.
need that setup!!
Wind noise is always difficult to handle. I am using Final Cut on a Mac.
Can you connect Dji mic 2 with Insta360 ONE RS?
19:24 Thanks Marc, great video, I have also just purchased the Osmo Action 4 Adventure combo which came with Mic 2 as part of the pack from Amazon UK.
Not had it on the bike yet as waiting for my ChinMount to arrive, but some initial tests done and really very impressed!!👏🏻
Enjoy your new setup :-)
@@Marc.Stonesthanks Marc
Great video i have action 3 and dji wireless mic verson 1 with 2 mic what camera settings do you use on camera
I am filming in 4K 25p and DLog M
Great job; you can hear the engine better with the wired mic, or is it just me ?
Very well explained. You have a nice RE. :)
Thanks 👍🏻
