Thanks guys
122,000 miles that ranger is like new! mines got 320,000 3.0 still going strong thanks for sharing the tip👍
Been driving around for years with slop in the shifter on 99 explorer xlt, saw this video, easily got on 1 knee and stuck my arm up under the steering wheel feeling for that above shown thumbwheel. Found it and lined up nice, your a FORD magician dude. Thanks for the tip!
Right after watching this I walked out to my truck and fixed this so fast!!! Thank you for this helpful tip!!!!
Perfect timing!
My 06 expedition just started having this issue, now I can look into it after I take the kids to school. Thank a lot, I really appreciate the Ford content you put on your channel. I really wish your shop was in Arizona, and I'm sure most subscribers wish you were in the state. Have a great day!
I had this same problem, after watching another video of yours that covered replacing the shifter shaft bushings I replaced mine and noticed this was the actual problem. So in the end you pointed me in the right direction. Thanks for all your videos and knowledge.
One of the best channels to watch. My F150 need some adjustments. Now I know thanks to you.
Just did this. Easy, took me a minute to find the dial and less to adjust. My OCD is gone. Thanks for your great and informative videos.
Who the ??? thumbs down this? The time, the video, the information and even link to the part! What else can you want???
They want cake.
They want it done for them
Theyre a bunch of squares
Chevy owner probably!
😢
Q
Brian, my Lincoln navigator and I thank you for all your videos!!! Fixed this years ago, but love to watch your videos regardless!
Thank you once again MY MAN! You were spot on with yet another of your Ford RX's! I remember coming across this vid awhile back when I was using one of your tutorials to fix something else on my '01 Expedition (380,000+ miles to date!) and I used it today for this fix. Thanx once again and a HUGE salute to you from balmy Las Vegas, Nevada!
A quick side note: check out that mileage to date I've tallied up on this beast with your help. That is the equivalent of driving to the moon and back with a few miles to spare! Mr. Carl Sagan (rest in peace) would be proud! Have a good one my friend.....
Perfect video!
Mine indicator was off as well
And yes indeed
The plastic part was broken
And followdd your link
Part will be here Wednesday!
Thanks so much for posting this!
Thank goodness for my 5 speed, soon to be a 6 speed T56 and a Dakota Digital dash. I'll let my buddy know about this for his 93 AOD. Great videos!
I don’t own a Ford anymore, but man... you’re the best.
Mine has been broken for years, thanks brother for the informative video.
Boom! The part was perfect and your content is great as always!
I owe it to you . You gave me the courage to buy an 01 xlt exspedition last year . I've learned alot from your UA-cam . Thank you for sharing your knowledge sir.
How are you liking it so far? I've got a 1997 Eddie Bauer and I'm loving the thing so far
Man I love it . It's solid .big . Exactly what I needed . 5.4 2v is so strong .so strong I've had her for a year I spent about 1,300 $ in parts and haven't touched the motor yet . Over 200,000 miles on it and she's still going strong. Lots of maintenance but she's worth it . Nothing built like those tanks anymore . I got a tank
Excellent. Thank you it’s been driving me crazy.
I used a zip tie in the slack on the threaded part which corrected it until I get the new piece ordered
Great info. I've had numerous Fords where the shift indicator was off center.
Great video. I would love to see more of these videos that focus on the older Fords (80s and 90s)
If i had you number, id be picking your brain constantly. Thanks for all the handy info. Youre helping me keep my f150 top notch
Just did that on my crown Vic. Same break. JB weld was my friend on the fix.
96 ford ranger was my first ride, this video brought me back 😪
Great information! Keep up the good work
Another Great ford tip! Thank you for your expertise
Awesome video!!! Great info to add to my mental library!!!
I’m not home to try it but I’m pretty sure just like many before me have pointed out… I think you just fixed my truck lol
Great video!!!! I really appreciate the help. Keep up the great work!
You've been a big help thank you. Do you have a video on replacing the broken bracket? It looks like the cable has to be removed.
Just looked at mine for my old 98 F150 as the indicator is off and sloppy shifter. Sure enough it’s broken. Just ordered new shifter bushings and this part along with new dash lights bc I have some burned out bulbs. I don’t drive the truck much but I’ve been doing lots of work to it often except when I need a truck. Your vids have helped me swap coils, fix the AC, fix the main vacuum leak and tons of other small diy issues. I have to replace the GEM next and I wish you had a video for that.
That exact part was broken just like you said. Ordered replacement. Thanks 👍
Thank you! It's really hard to explain this to someone.
Thanks, this helped me a lot get the new metal bracket in. A good now. Thanks again
Another excellent video. Thanks again.
lifesaver even 3 years later....
Thanks for info it helps me fix my truck problem
Thank You for this video so much! My 2003 Ford Windstar minivan ✔️ engine light came on so I went to AutoZone to see what the problem was and it was the N.S.S.S. so on the ride back home I was thinking 🤔 maybe I need to adjust the actual sensor itself, you know go under the hood but now that I watched this video not only did I learn something new, but now I don't have to go under the hood and start messing with things. Thanks a Bunch 👍.
Thanks for the video. This was so easy.
This makes a big difference with my OCD tendencies, lol. I’ve done this on both of the Ford trucks I’ve owned over the years, most recently on my ‘00 Ranger. I’ve owned it since it was new, and believe it or not, the bracket wasn’t broken (as I knock on wood)!
Love all your content
That's exactly what was wrong with mine. Thanks for the video
thanks, i have that problem, didn't know it was so easy to fix
Hey, thank you! You just saved me a couple hundred bucks!!
Thanks to this video, I have learned that this ford I’m working on-the cable that goes up to the dash is straight up disconnected
Wow! Great quick fix!
Thanks you've been a great help.
Good video what size is the bolt/nut holding the plastic bracket ?
Thank you for this video I appreciate it
Fantastic video.
Thank you so much.
You’re awesome dude!!!
Thanks bro. I need to fix this.
I love you FordTechMakuloco
Great video thanks.
Great video...I googled the part that you show in the below link. and it says that it will not fit my 2004 Expedition?? the dealer does not carry this part without purchasing the complete assembly.
much needed thanks
Thanks for the video. Easiest way was just to lay on my back and change the part to the metal one found on amazon. Used a 7/32 with an extension. To reloop the cable put the vehicle in 1st gear and make sure you put blocks on your wheels.
Do you by chance have a link for the "metal replacement part"
I already ordered the plastic one as listed in the above, but would be interested in the metal version you are referring to
Did not see on Amazon
Thank you for the video
Great video
Any hints on adjusting the speedo in an 06 e350?
Hey thanks great video love it
This is great. Just had my transmission replaced on my 01 ford f150. And now the indicator is off, immensely. Gonna look underneath the dash to see if mine is broken. Thank you
Excellent video thank you 💯🤝🏻
I don't remember if you've ever gone over it, but the shift tube bushings or torx screws for the tube clamps back out and will give you the sloppy indicator too.
My '86 Grand Marquis has a plastic collar - you just turn the collar by hand until the locating pin drops in ... or there was a pinch bolt. Been a while since I've had to do that (back when my shift lever spring broke into 9 small pieces), so memory is a little foggy. Was pretty simple - no cable or adjuster. It's also still working after 34 years, 265k miles. :)
I had a windstar that had this same issue and the e-150 I use for work has this same issue as well. It takes less than 30 seconds to do once you find the little wheel.
Great tip. Thanks.
Thats a great video.
@FordTrchMakulco What affect do other parts of the shift mechanism have on the shift indicator? I am thinking of the shift tobe bushings, shift cable to the trans shift lever, and anything else that might affect it.
Is that the same for the f250s? Haven't had any problems with mine but my 2011 has that style I believe.
You Have Just Save me & a Friend, a whole lot of Junk Yard Runs! On his 1988 Ford F150 Pick up!!🥳👍😉
Thanks a lot, that was very easy to follow. Obviously people should check that first if the indicator starts acting wonky. FYI the Dorman part in your info doesn't fit the 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. Its plastic and in the same location but instead its the Dorman 70041.
Hey Man! I know my question will be off topic but I’ve been struggling and going back and forth within Ford dealers techs and other techS, I have a 2001 Ford Escape 2.0 manual, no spark but coil pack plug has power, and the fuel pump doesn’t activate, no one seems to no what the problem is. The theft light blinks but medium intervals between each blink. I would greatly appreciate it if you have any feedback on my ford. I’m ubering for the time being.
Thank you so much!!!
You are just awesome at what you do. Great videos and information always on point. I have an 07 f150 5.4 and been using 10w30 full synthetic since I got it but im so scare about doing the the timing chain. It only rattles when on park and give it gas
Any updates? I am due for my 1997 f250xlt supercab. (3/4 ton F150)
Nice tip!
Awesome.... Thanks a million 😄
Nice!! Great tip, never knew they existed... :-)
Think I might try it out on my 07 Grand Marquis. THX
wow you can buy that bracket.we change so many shift indicator because of that bracket that not available at ford.thank you
I know this was for shifter adjustment. But can you tell me if the antenna cable is able to be unplugged from the antenna mast on a 03 escape? Mine broke off and the aftermarket replacement doesn't really work for the set up.
You're the man.
Been There Done That MANY times. L.A. D.W.P. City Fleet of Fords.
Bro thank you !
My shift indicator developed a similar problem. The indicator moves but it is out of sync. At the same time the car won't start anymore. It cranks over but won't start. I'm wondering if there is any chance that there is an ignition interlock that is triggered by the shift indicator. Probably not and probably I need a new fuel pump which will be expensive work but I just thought I would ask in case the problem is simpler than that. It is interesting that the shift indicator problem and the engine not starting occurred at the same time.
I'm having the same problem, I have a 2001 ford expedition eddie bauer and shifter won't line up. Not only that but everytime I start vehicle I need to pull up on shifter and turn key at same time for truck to start up. My questiion is what if the white plastics are broken b/c of years of wear and tear and heat etc. Thanks for the video, any feedback appreciated.
Thankyou it help a lot 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙏🙏🙏
Very interesting thanks a lot i have that problem witn my 1996 ford ranger problem solve mr makuloco
I bought a metal one from Amazon now when in gear the indicator is correct. But I must go past each gear to get it into gear. Will a new cable help or should I be looking at something else?
Thx, going to align the ole Taurus.
Thank you
So cool can't to weekend my 05 250 has problem really cool bro
Thank You
Good video
Do you have to remove panels to access the adjuster wheel?
On my 2000 Ford Excursion it looks like there may be a way to also adjust it down at the other end where it attaches to the transmission.... is that possible?
I checked out the link you provided for shifter bracket . Will not fit 1999 f350 . Any help ?
My sons truck indicator was way off now it just quit working all together do you think the cable is broke or maybe it’s just that far out of adjustment with my work schedule I haven’t had time to tear into it yet
So I recently brought a set of 38 inch tires and I have a 2009 F150 six speed transmission four-wheel-drive and I have no clue and trying to get as much advice as I can. If I should get 4.88 or 5.13 I don’t do any off-road at all but I definitely want to have nice low and torque I mostly only do city driving. If I go on the highway, it’s only an hour away to go to the beach. Opinions please
Will this prevent the truck from starting? I have to lift up extremely hard sometimes on tge shift lever to get it to start.
Thanks 👍
Thanks man
