Enjoyed the video! Yep, that's what I've found to be true for Carp & Buffalo. Carp like the sweet stuff & Buffalo like the spicy stuff. Buffalo seem to really dig slightly soured cottonseed cake, peas, cabbage & lettuce mixed into a dough form. Add a little salt & black pepper & you've got really killer buffalo bait.

Like you started fishing for carp when I was a little kid fun fight!! I've even fished several carp tournaments here in Oklahoma took 2nd twice but never won well made video gona have to try this!!!
If you fish for carp and you don't want to over feed fish use nuts birdfoods they get digested quickly and don't over fill them.Im a UK carp angler and bait maker have had great success with these baits.
Hey Mitch. Made this recipe. Could not find plan Bran flakes so I used Rasin Bran but took out the Rasins. Don't know if that gives it a different flavor? Also used Anise extract. Not sure if that's the same as Anise oil. I had Strawberry Jello mix so I used that instead of Kool-Aid. I haven't caught a carp yet but I have been catching Brown Trout at a lake like crazy. After about 30 min the Trout realize it's there then every cast after I get hits in less than a min. I made a harder batch (more flour) and a softer one. Both seem to work but I can cast further with the harder bait.
Right on! i'm in Texas and the water and seasons are too warm for any type of freshwater trout. Cool to know it catches them... Carp and buffalo are more active when the water warms up. Not sure of your water temp, but you may have more luck as the water warms.
If you want to enhance the baits and preserve too pink salt and also rock salt as carp rub against clay for salts .All the best from scaley baits in the uk.
What type of areas do you typically catch carp? Do they prefer deep water or shallow water? Do they prefer sandy bottoms? Rocks? Standing timber or other structure? Boat docks or shallow flats? I know most fish have some type of structure or surroundings they prefer, but I'm not sure exactly where to fish for carp. I would appreciate any advice. Great video!
Range cubes are essentially cattle feed, and not too high in protein. The catfish protein probably works great! You can modify this recipe multiple ways and still get great results. I catch the odd cat on this recipe from time to time, but I bet with the catfish protein you probably catch them regularly.
CombineLover the brand doesn’t really matter, I’ve used many brands over the years. I’m currently using a Adams brand and I bought it at the local grocery store. You can also buy it on Amazon if your local grocery store does not carry it.
CombineLover the stuff I buy is usually from about 3 to 5 US dollars. Typically it’s just a ounce or two bottle. A little goes a long way do a small bottle of oil or extract will last you a long time. Typically I buy Adams or Watkins anise extract.

Hi, everyone, my name is Adrian and I am now retired and a native Englishman living in the UK. One of my pastimes is fishing and as part of my hobby, I spend a lot of time searching out carp bat recipes to try in my local river and lakes. Most of the American foods can be obtained in the UK and searching out sources is also part of the fun. I have just watched this video which, I have found very interesting and I will give it a go. However, I have a problem which, is that I have never heard of Rain cubes before But I have found out that they are a form of feed for Beef Cattle or, Steers as I think you call them, which when fed to the animal, it should also have access copious amounts of water or, even soaked in water for time prior to feeding? At the moment I am not able to find a similar British Cattle feed and I'm hoping that one of you fellow anglers could or, would be able to suggest a similar or, substitute cattle feed to use? Regards, Adrian
Hay cubes, same thing!! Try making forever rice, look on google, basically rice and ketchup, flour , I add a little smelly cheese ( Limburger or blue ) try it you'll like it!
Great vid on an interesting bait. I'm a carp angler from the UK, we use Boilies a lot. With the addition of flour, if you rolled these into small marble sized balls then baked them for a 15mins, they'd end up a boilie. The only issue I have is using treble hooks, I bet you don't miss many bites, but a bit overkill in my opinion. Anyway, great vid and I hope to try a UK version as soon as I research ranch cubes! 😂
How can you have overkill on a carp? In the UK, carp are treated as a game fish, largely because carp have nearly wiped out many native species. You know carp by name, and catch the same ones over and over. And every carp I've seen there is fat. Our carp are not fat. They're lean, very strong, and fight about three times as hard as even the largest carp in the UK. And even though the common carp has been "naturalized" here, carp, all of them, are still invasive species, and if you check the history of our lakes and streams before and after carp were introduced to them, the difference is staggering. I've seen a three hundred acre lake completely ruined in four short years after just six common carp were accidentally stocked. Unfortunately, a lot of people spend too much time on UA-cam watching carp fishing videos from the UK, and who know nothing at all about the ecology of our lakes, rivers, and streams, and these fools treat carp like a catch and release game fish. They're rapidly destroying our fishing industry. Asian carp are by far the worst offenders, but the common carp alone does immeasurable damage everywhere it exists. Some states are now banning the possession of a live carp, or of releasing it back into the wild. This may not work because of the fools out there who prefer ignorance and UA-cam over knowledge, but it helps. Treble hooks are overkill? We use bows and arrows on carp, we net carp by the tens of thousands and haul them to fertilizer plants, we set out extremely long trotlines, and do everything possible to catch and kill as many as possible because the last thing any intelligent person wants is for our fishing industry to fall apart the way it has in the UK and much of Europe. So, no, treble hooks are not overkill. Sticks of dynamite a ren't overkill. Anything and everything is good if it has "kill" and "carp" in the same sentence. You'd feel the same way, if you were alive when carp first started destroy your fishing. Or if you had to pay to have a large pond, or even a decent sized lake drained and restocked just to get rid of the carp that were destroying it.
Yeah, they've done studies at the University of Minnesota on controlling Carp populations in lakes & found in their studies that lakes with good population of Bluegill & other Sunfish had much lower populations of Carp than lakes that didn't. Apparently the Sunfish gorge on Carp eggs in the shallow water weedy water during the Spring & Fall Carp spawning period. Just thought I would drop some knowledge I'd learned about Carp control.

The introduction of invasive species of snails and mussels that actually do destroy aquatic vegetation are being controlled by the carp and suckers that you have reminded us that are being slaughtered without limits. Balance is the key to a healthy ecosystem. The bait and game fish will control the carp as needed by feasting on the hundred thousand of eggs left in the weed beds and rocks. Then the larger gamefish feed on the smaller juveniles that do make it. Very few actually make it to adulthood. Yes, you can refrigerate it for a week or so, before it starts to mold. Also it still works once its moldy, but I prefer it not to get moldy. You can also break the batch into smaller portions and freeze it. I usually make it into balls about the size of a tennis ball and freeze all but the one i am going to use. Then just put a frozen one in the fridge about two days before your going to use it, allowing it to thaw.

How do you get the cubes so dry after you soak the cubes 24 hours?
Is that cotton seed meal powder or the regular
