E-Bikes have allowed me to ride with my dad again, he had a terrible motorbike accident a few years back, he broke the entire lowerhalf of his body and had to replace his knees with metal and alot of parts of his hip with metal, he couldnt walk for a year and still has a hard time going on long walks, he could never ride with me but he has recently bought a Canyon Spectral:ON and can now come out on the trails with me without putting to much stress on his knees, e bikes are amazing and has given a 53 year old man the chance to go out and have a bucket load of fun with his son again

Brilliant to watch Danny riding trails. Bike placement, rear wheel placement, body positioning all stand out. Just SO precise. He makes speed from the trail really well.
Nice one Danny. I'm 61 and after a really bad back injuiry I am now able to Cross Country Bike again with my new E-Bike and blast through trails like I used to do 30 years ago when I was your age. But not so mental as you...Because I still have to take it easy and be sensiblle. Great video. You really are an absolute legend. Love your adventures.
So much truth in the description. Thank You! I've been riding e-bikes for a couple of years now. Anyone who says that e-bikes are somehow "worse" or "bad" are simply jealous. Nothing to it. Everyone that has tried one has liked it I have a lightweight hardtail for training tricks on. And it's super fun! But if i want to go faster and further while still having fun (and not sweat my balls off) - I have to ride my Neuron:ON 6.0. Single best purchase i've ever made!
@@jakepople9692 There's no license, insurance or petrol cost with an e-bike. You don't have to brake any laws to have fun either. And if you do there's rarely any penalty. Riding a motorcycle to it's limits or even close to it on the road means your breaking traffic laws, risking big fines and losing your license.
EMTB are the way forward. Got my first one two years ago, upgraded to a Kenevo inNovember, absolutely rocks. I might have had a massive crash last weekend destroyed my medial malleolus but hey, still smiling and still riding. You need to spin a higher cadence on those steep technical uphill bits. Also use your dropper post to get moving again if you get stuck.
Hey Ali Clarkson! Well good to see you enjoyed ebiking! There are disadvantages but for me the advantages vastly outweigh them! I find you still get a work out riding them because for every bit of power you expend the ebike rewards you by adding to it and that is a great motivator! More effort in is rewarded with more fun out! I'm riding 5 times as much as I used to! Ride ride ride!
now that looked absolutely awesome! a lot easier on the climbs than when i met you there, eh! you looked to be going so fast on those bikes. ace mate, think i want an e bike now!
Ebikes are dream machines, I adore mine! Rides are so much more fun and dynamic than ordinary bikes, climbs are not boring and slow and you still work a lot, especially in Eco mode, which I use 95% of the time. People have totally wrong idea how ebikes work. If you are a rider that likes to push yourself and ride mostly on the edge of your comfort zone, you will absolutely do the same on the ebike, but you will just be faster. Love that you did this video cause anti ebikes people need some enlightenment. But after all, ebike is just another product, you don't have to like it, but there's absolutely no reason to hate it. if it's not for you, it's not for you, use what you like
Brilliant video, been riding Ebike for two years now, the longer you have them the more fun you have and, your spot on with you comments about becoming one with the bike
Subscribed. Wow - inspiration and good to know it isn't only me falling off bikes LOL. Washed out on some slick ice today in front of a couple of walkers - tyres were at Summer PSI not snow/ice. Funny, they just thought I was crazy.
I hurt my shoulder dirt biking a couple years ago and had to stop riding. Decided to give an e-bike a try to get me back on two wheels. Being almost 50 and out of shape, and not wanting to hold up my friends who are mostly younger and in better shape than I am the e-bike made perfect sense. It's a lot of fun and I still end my rides breathing heavy and legs burning. I just get to go a lot further and faster than if I was on my regular bike. I think of it like a bionic bike, it just amplifies my effort, I still get a great workout riding it. Once I'm back in better shape again I'll probably be able to switch back and forth to my regular bike depending who I'm riding with and where we're riding. It was expensive but I really enjoy riding it so I think it was worth it.
I was just thinking how absurd it must feel when you're struggling up a mountain and all of a sudden Danny Macaskill and Ali Clarkson pedal past you. Can't imagine. 😂
Great riding you guys ....I rode Motocross when I was younger , I wish now that these bikes were around in my time here in Canada , Thank you for the video ..subscribed.
Great video and good video write up. I've never ridden one but really fancy it! I dont see how people can be against things without ever experiencing them.
Nice! Can't wait to head of to the mountains (Alps) and drive my Fantic XF2/Brose-630Wh up+downhill. Did a flat 223 km ride last week in 9 hours, so plenty of reach to have loads of fun in Austria.
Hi Ali, thanks for this video. This has really helped me decide to try an ebike out before I invest in a new bike. They open up a whole new world and seem so much fun all over the mountain. I think most people assume you won't get a good workout on one, but to my mind, you can work just as hard but go a lot faster and for a lot further
I own a couple of bikes, one is a 2020 Specialized Turbo Levo Expert Carbon. I have the most fun on the EMTB. Sometimes I laugh out loud when paddling a hill because it is so unreal. And doing a long tour (80 Kilometers and more) it is super nice to go in Eco and then switch to trail or even boost for the moral. Or just ride your home trail more often.
@@Ali_Clarkson really planted. In the beginning I had the feeling it is very slow downhill. But after checking times, it is in fact faster then my other bikes, but it feels so safe that it feels slow. Kinda strange but great. It is very planted, additional I ride it with a soft setup, it feels like a Baja racing truck. Luv it. Will test the new Santa next week. Keep up the good content mate.
Awesome. I'm a roadie that does half a dozen mtb rides a year with the mountain bike guys. For me its 20% exhilaration and 80% fear. But to watch technicians like you on those downhills is amazing
E-bikes are amazing, you don't need to spend stupid money. I got the Vitus ESommet 2 years ago for just under £3k. I can honestly say that it is hands down been the best thing to improve my riding. I have definitely got a lot fast due to this bike
Solid ride from both of you; unsurprisingly 😊👍🏻 Just needed a little more momentum for that hill. I have owned a Specialized Turbo Levo since January 2019. Every time i go out on a normal bike I wish I’d got my ebike. Not because I am lazy, more because i can do more miles. I bought an ex demonstrator for £2500. It’s still a lot of money i suppose but much better than buying new. People need to give them a blast; you won’t look back. Just go to your local shop and give it a try......well when this bloody coronavirus dies down. Stay safe people.
Totally true that he loves it. Bumped into him in Dundee yesterday while he was scoping the place for filming locations astride his e bike and he said it's opened up a whole new world for him.
That was some proper riding, boys! Couldn't agree more... I love the uphill advantages but was pleasantly surprised about that planted feel on the downhill chunder. E-bikes >>> # of laps up, heart rate up, stoke up. Yeeewwww!
my second ride is a specialized kenevo. It rides down the hill just like my YT noton. After flat tyre I went up with my ebike and riding the freeridetrail in Gotschna klosters just the same as with my lighter bike. I am still stoked of the posibilitys it offers.
I ride a 2019 Meriida E160-800.... I'm now 61 and bought my E-Bike because I was unable to keep up with the boys on their normal bikes; I had the choice of either getting a E-Bike or stop riding, as riding was no longer fun. I can now keep up with their lively pace with ease, and carry a spare battery in my Camelback, so a 30-50 mile jaunt around the South Wales Valleys is still very possible. I've still got my old short-travel 2011 Santa Cruz Tallboy, which I occasionally ride with one of the boys who likes riding at my pace... E-Bikes aren't cheating; they can be just as demanding or exhausting to ride as you want them to be.... you're only cheating yourself if you don't get one
I recently had two days riding in the Lake District (before lockdown) I loved it on my none ebike but did end up pushing uphill in places. I hired a Focus ebike for the next ride and have never smiled so much since my days of motorbike trail riding.....right where's my wallet? 😉
love the video and I rented an e bike out in Colorado. my brother his friends and dad had regular mountain bikes. the e bike I was on was a mountain bike and it was great just need to control it and takes time to get used to. i was thinking of buying one myself why not i mean their are pros and cons like everything these days
Great fun and vid, where is this? Got alot of saving to do before I could get an E-bike but would love to go there and endure those trails on my HT. Gotta earn those stripes first :)
Danny must be the best E-Bike rider out there without even trying... I enjoy everything you and Danny do Trials, DRop & Roll, street sessions everything. PS why I dont do downhill trials, fear of a broken collar bone! Lucky to escape that tree slam!
1:56 Torque sensor calibration error from the get-go (from resting foot on pedals). LOL. Welcome to ebikes. There's another one you'll likely encounter: speed sensor error, if you try to ride off with a different rear wheel (without magnet properly installed on it).
These look great for somebody that's struggling with fitness or injuries. Still gives you a good workout and an enjoyable ride but makes it more accessible.
Hi Ali, where was this filmed? Looks absolutely fantastic! BTW I was very anti, more because of the fact that on my local ´bump' (675m high, here in Austria, so not a mountain) I was consistently overtaken by older, and/or seemingly bulkier riders on first gen e-bikes, hated them! But this year , there is an awesome selection of really good e-bikes and they look and feel like an analogue MTB, not some Heath Robinson creation (apologies WHR). So time to change perhaps......
For real though, if I had a bike manufacturer backing me, I'd be begging them for an e-bike...and a hardtail...and an Enduro bikes...and a trials bike...and...lol seriously good video Ali, as usual!
Amazing video. Probably first one i’ve watched where i actually felt like i was riding the bike. Actually felt myself jumping out of the way of some of the trees
Ride my Giant QuickE around town and it makes me smile. Definitely looking at the EMTB in the future. Smiling on the way up and grinning on the way down.
Nice! Definitely get air suspension and a suspension pump when you get an E-mtb! Coil suspension are always too stiff and can't be fine-tuned on the fly like air susp. If you get a full-sus E-mtb you're obviously going downhill so do not skip the dropper post. I recommend Shimano E7000 and E8000 as the best motors that mortals can afford. They are pretty equal so get an E7000-mtb if you get a good deal. Front and rear air suspension and dropper post are the important details. If those three exist the rest of the bike is guaranteed to be fine. Dream E-mtbs can be had for 3-4K $.
what people don't realize is that riding a heavy bike is like weight training. when Danny hops back on his trials bike it will feel even lighter and more controllable.
Lucky enough to have a couple of bike and my eBike gets the most use. Generally people that knock them have never really ridden one, and not just round a car park. If you really want a work out on a bike switch the motor off and pedal a 22k bike up a hill!! Great fun and they are just getting better and better. Great vid, have subscribed.
I got a KTM Macina Lycan 271 in 2018, bought a spare battery now days out are longer and higher... been up the top of Sgor Gaioth (1118m) several times... Seen Danny out and about on his so yeah he's seriously into them I reckon! I've never had so much fun without the grimaces and dread of climbing and tech uphills are more fun than downhills to me... the weight (22kg) is a bonus downhill and now I've lost 15kg even the extra weight of the bike and a second battery (10kg combined) means I'm still winning!!!
@@Ali_Clarkson awesome. looking forward to these vids! FYI, after seeing that map with pins on the wall at tartybikes in your vid, I looked into them and realized I could get a better deal ordering from the UK than from the inspired dealers out here in the US. So I just ordered my first trials bike -- an Arcade!
I started on a emtb, only been riding for some 8 months and I'm on the ups and downs I'm one of the quicker riders in the group. Switched over to a normal bike to prove myself and I'm not worn out at the top of climbs like the other mid pack and slower guys in the group.
Everyone that has tried one has liked it
I have a lightweight hardtail for training tricks on. And it's super fun! But if i want to go faster and further while still having fun (and not sweat my balls off) - I have to ride my Neuron:ON 6.0. Single best purchase i've ever made!
I just don't get it. If you want to hoss get a motorcycle if you want to ride a bike ride a bike. They cost about the same as a motorcycle don't they?
@@jakepople9692 There's no license, insurance or petrol cost with an e-bike. You don't have to brake any laws to have fun either. And if you do there's rarely any penalty.
Riding a motorcycle to it's limits or even close to it on the road means your breaking traffic laws, risking big fines and losing your license.
Danny is literally smilling in every second
@14:00 love this section guys!!! Looked and sounded super loose but you both nailed it! Thanks for the clip
Great quality vid Ali! love the e-bike stoke
That was a super fun watch, guys! Got me revved up to go riding now. That trail system and an e-bike would be the actual dream.
now that looked absolutely awesome! a lot easier on the climbs than when i met you there, eh! you looked to be going so fast on those bikes. ace mate, think i want an e bike now!
It's that disbelieving "ahahaha" chuckle that every single person gets when they ride up a steep hill for the first time on an e-bike, like @3:02
Yup, been there 😁
Yup, been there 😁
Such a true statement!
More of Ali & Danny's eMTB Adventures please!
I would have died multiple times on the decent.
I would have died on the way up, even with the assist lol.
@@codemonkeyalpha9057 i would have died just looking Up at the hill.
I died several times from just watching the video.
Even nine lives wouldn’t have been enough for me
I think I'm saying this on almost every video of yours but this is yet again one of the best videos I've seen in a while.
I've been ride'ing big motorcycles for over 20 years, watching you going through the trees, have to say you guys are Nuts.
Big nuts :)
Thanks I have 2 ebikes and I love them. But I am 61 years old and raced motorcycles all my life.
Awesome footage. So stoked to see this bike in action.
2:07 all i could hear was Sam Pilgrims voice :D This is the Dream!
ebikes make grown men giggle like little girls. it's scientifically proven ;)
Best comment 🤣
Ebikes are dream machines, I adore mine! Rides are so much more fun and dynamic than ordinary bikes, climbs are not boring and slow and you still work a lot, especially in Eco mode, which I use 95% of the time. People have totally wrong idea how ebikes work. If you are a rider that likes to push yourself and ride mostly on the edge of your comfort zone, you will absolutely do the same on the ebike, but you will just be faster. Love that you did this video cause anti ebikes people need some enlightenment. But after all, ebike is just another product, you don't have to like it, but there's absolutely no reason to hate it. if it's not for you, it's not for you, use what you like
Real talk👌🏾👍🏾
Brilliant video, been riding Ebike for two years now, the longer you have them the more fun you have and, your spot on with you comments about becoming one with the bike
Subscribed. Wow - inspiration and good to know it isn't only me falling off bikes LOL.
Washed out on some slick ice today in front of a couple of walkers - tyres were at Summer PSI not snow/ice. Funny, they just thought I was crazy.
OMG, Ali Clarkson and Danny Macaskill on ebikes! so awesome! Sam Pilgrim would make the trifecta. EEEB IT!
We can't get Sam to come north of the border. He's afraid of the Scottish heathens. :) Been trying for years...?
Cheers mate stuck indoors for a couple weeks but I always enjoy watching you boys shred keep posting I will watch them all
Where are these trails they look amazing? Great video guys. I’m actually saving for an ebike after snapping the rear triangle on my full susser.
Did you find out? I'm wanting to know also
I hurt my shoulder dirt biking a couple years ago and had to stop riding.
Man, some of that trail looks realllllly steep!!!

I recently demoed an e bike and I had the exact same reaction when I first got on “holy cow this is insane” Love the video and collab with Danny 🤘
Looks like tons of fun! I'm sure those riders were really surprised to be passed by you and Danny while climbing up!
I was just thinking how absurd it must feel when you're struggling up a mountain and all of a sudden Danny Macaskill and Ali Clarkson pedal past you. Can't imagine. 😂
@@steezymtb5876 I probably would have crashed immediately after that moment!
Given that it's them, they would have passed me the same way if they were on MTBs and I was on the emtb.
Ali that was a great video looks like you guys had a good time Maybe you’ll have some more E bike videos in the future you and your friends
I just watched a video where you built a bike 6 days ago. First time watching your videos today. I subscribed, bike build was really cool.
Great riding you guys ....I rode Motocross when I was younger , I wish now that these bikes were around in my time here in Canada , Thank you for the video ..subscribed.
these bikes are perfect for a motocrosser! so much fun!
Ps.. where was this filmed? I need to get up there!
Lovely scenery and incredible riding. Where is the car park you started from?
Nice, they're £4300 now.
Ali Clarkson never, especially the way you two ride them 😊👍🏻
It was great to see pro MTBer still having fun on their bike, nice video beautiful place.
I am still stoked of the posibilitys it offers.
niice. good to see you both riding together on E-Bikes
Danny seems to be such a humble guy given what he has accomplished...many respects! Thx for the video.
Great video, not long got myself and e bike, so much fun, where was the video taken ?
Great footage, super gripped as you were flying downhill through the trees 👍🏼
I recently had two days riding in the Lake District (before lockdown) I loved it on my none ebike but did end up pushing uphill in places. I hired a Focus ebike for the next ride and have never smiled so much since my days of motorbike trail riding.....right where's my wallet? 😉
Met you both that day and you were both total gents. You made Avalanche looks easy . I doubt ill vere ride that , looks scary AF.
Amazing trails and all, but watching this while in lock down, is sad.
you can't Ride where you are??
love the video and I rented an e bike out in Colorado. my brother his friends and dad had regular mountain bikes. the e bike I was on was a mountain bike and it was great just need to control it and takes time to get used to. i was thinking of buying one myself why not i mean their are pros and cons like everything these days
Great fun and vid, where is this? Got alot of saving to do before I could get an E-bike but would love to go there and endure those trails on my HT. Gotta earn those stripes first :)
When Ali left the trail, that’s when I knew I’d have died on that mountain 😅
Imagine just bein on your weekly bike ride and seeing two legends just casually pedal past 🤣
Danny must be the best E-Bike rider out there without even trying... I enjoy everything you and Danny do Trials, DRop & Roll, street sessions everything. PS why I dont do downhill trials, fear of a broken collar bone! Lucky to escape that tree slam!
Thanks for a lot of Fun! 🤙🏻
Danny is a LEGEND !
What a great video. Heart in the mouth watching that. I need an ebike and get onto mountain biking.
Where about are these trails? Im guessing somwhere in scotland?
Innerleithen, Scottish Borders.
For real though, if I had a bike manufacturer backing me, I'd be begging them for an e-bike...and a hardtail...and an Enduro bikes...and a trials bike...and...lol seriously good video Ali, as usual!
I have just got an e-bike on Friday 16/05/2020 and could only dream of riding anywhere near these guys, great vidio.
Amazing video. Probably first one i’ve watched where i actually felt like i was riding the bike. Actually felt myself jumping out of the way of some of the trees
Wow man! Just wow! 👌🏽👍👌🏽 what a crazy trail ... loved it Ali 😁
Yay on the ebike and AWESOME on the vid!! Well Done Sir!!
Awesome stuff guys some people will have no idea how crazy steep those trails are 👍🏼
You should got and try out the old Kilpatrick hills on the e bikes
Sheep drop - love it!
It’s good been up this morning trails are looking good
Ride my Giant QuickE around town and it makes me smile.
I hit about 20 trees just watching this video. Looks like fantastic fun and the ebike must take the edge off the hill climbs quite nicely.
Where are these trails, Bud?
... and e-bikes are sick!
Part of the seven Stane's
what people don't realize is that riding a heavy bike is like weight training. when Danny hops back on his trials bike it will feel even lighter and more controllable.
The footage from Danny's camera was much cleaner, not sure if you're using the same camera's - just an observation, great video guys!
I liked the double cam editing and the video very much.
Love mine, you can still get a cracking work out, awesome.
Next week you should go a quarantine video: Street Trials in your Flat.
I think they could even fit a group ride in there

@@Ali_Clarkson Trackstand challenge??
@@Ali_Clarkson awesome. looking forward to these vids! FYI, after seeing that map with pins on the wall at tartybikes in your vid, I looked into them and realized I could get a better deal ordering from the UK than from the inspired dealers out here in the US. So I just ordered my first trials bike -- an Arcade!
Not long ago, I've got installed mt7 on my ebike and I have to admit that, this is it!
I started on a emtb, only been riding for some 8 months and I'm on the ups and downs I'm one of the quicker riders in the group. Switched over to a normal bike to prove myself and I'm not worn out at the top of climbs like the other mid pack and slower guys in the group. EMTB got me fitter and fast, who can ride 40+ kms and still be good the next day for another 30 odd ? EMTB people
