Great looking passenger trains running on Brooklyn Park. Nice to see them running, even if they shouldn't be running there. Great video....cheers James and Dylan 🙂👍
Really enjoyed this video bredren! Good to see you get part of your collection out. Really loved the Rock Island set! And I also like the Amtrak combination a lot. And Brooklyn was a blast at the end. I enjoyed the first Thomas series and this sounded fun too. It’s good to be weird, be free! 😍
Could you fit long shank couplers on the Atlas coaches that keep derailing on the curves? Sometimes that's enough. Or maybe there's a retro-fit coupler that double hinges made for these coaches? (New sub, Dec. 2024. I just heard you on a podcast from February. A very interesting interview.)
@avlisk hi. Firstly, thanks for the sub, very much appreciated and glad you enjoyed my interview. Secondly, in relation to the coaches, that might work, but to be honest, I don't really run them on the layout as they are too long for the curves. But I might try and see what happens 👍
I am travelling from New York to Pittsburgh and back on the Pennsylvanian. 8 hours each way and going business class. Round trip ticket less than £200!
Steve, you may already know this because you've done your homework, but running LIRR equipment down the freight only Bayridge branch (what i think you are loosely modelling) is not a stretch as the NRHS ran some excursion trains (albeit with modern LIRR equipment) down that branch in 1999. One could extrapolate that the historical equipment you ran in the video was restored by one of the local museums and then run down your branch. Not a huge stretch. Also, regarding the subway equipment, you COULD run an elevated line above the existing layout at some point and run your subway equipment. But I suspect this has already crossed your mind. Great stuff! Happy modeling!
@joelupinacci011073 cheers mate. I know that occasionally the current LIRR MP15ACs run occasionally on the branch to fetch new equipment that is floated across from NJ. Even more excuse to use my new pair of them 😉
@thebritishrailroader technically, NYA does the interchange to pick up the float traffic, but they DO run MP15ACs and SW1001s in NYA colors. I have one of those MPs in LIRR colors but plan to paint it for NYA someday as I missed out on the first run of NYA painted units by Atheran.
@@joelupinacci011073I have seen some relatively recent pictures of the LIRR MP15s on the branch collecting new cars as opposed to the NYAR doing it. Gives me enough excuse to run mine 😊
@joelupinacci011073 lol. I have one of the NYAR MP15s on pre-order with Trainworld but would dearly love someone to make an SW1001, even if it was a basic one that I then added details to. I also want Athearn Genesis to do a run of NYAR GP38-2s as I have an old RTR one that I have detailed but the front anticlimber is wrong. The old Atlas Trainman ones were better, but they still needed a lot of detail adding.
@marka87 they are around 24 inches. I had such tight space it was the best I could do. However, the P54s are fine so if I can find an MP54, would be perfect lol. Glad you enjoyed the video, it was fun to do 👍
@@thebritishrailroader you’d think they’d be alright with 24” curves but I had the same issue on my previous layout; I’ve increased to 27” on the new one. I wanted 30” but couldn’t make it work. Presume you’ve checked gauge/back to back etc.
Outstanding! We share a love of commuter trains. Thanks for showing us your fleet of passenger equipment.
@@awblenko you and I have an awful lot in common my friend
Well done!

@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY cheers guys, glad you like them 👍
@thebritishrailroader Dylan loved them 🙂👍
lovely video Steve! I'm always learning from your stuff!
@EmperorsPath cheers mate. Thought I'd throw in the Underground Ernie bit after your Thomas podcast

@@GenxDiorama thanks my friend. It was all a bit of good fun and nice to get the stuff out and have a play 👍
The coaches look great, I really like the subway stock too. Never seen them before as models.
@@theangelsmodellingandrailways thanks. The subway set is MTH, though lifelike/Walthers have done similar as part of the Proto 1000 range
@@thebritishrailroader I do enjoy passenger trains running, got some myself. Larger heavyweights, need broader curves than my current layout has.
@theangelsmodellingandrailways the curves are a problem, that's why I like the P54s as they are shorter which is very satisfying

Where are travelling from/too in America? I did Toronto to New York last year on Amtrak.

Im stuck in 1999 since that's my era. Love those MPs and also keep following the rumors of an SW1001. One day!

@marka87 they are all good in that respect, to be honest, there are tight spots here and there on the curves. Need to keep it all straight next time 🤣
@@thebritishrailroader 😂😂😂 it’s quite difficult getting the curve smooth
