      It sounds like you are using a dedicated backup camera facing forward. Are there reverse settings available on the camera? On AVH-290BT there is no way to reverse the camera image. Other Pioneer in dash receivers offer this feature. Here is a video explaining the operation: ua-cam.com/video/6VY10uChNTI/v-deo.html

      Please be more specific with the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver. You can usually find the model number on the face of the receiver. For example: MVH-AV251BT,
      or AVH-2550NEX, or DMH-241EX. Some Pioneer receivers have parking assist guide lines and others do not.

      The Pioneer AVH-290BT is designed to use the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera seen here: ua-cam.com/video/kg0IaGC3JbE/v-deo.html The Pioneer ND-BC8 is a reverse image camera designed to be used in rear facing applications like a backup camera with a Pioneer in-dash receiver. It sounds like you are using a forward facing camera in a reverse application. The backwards image is normal operation for the Pioneer AVH-290BT and I'm not aware of a way to flip that image. I'm not aware of a way to remove the warning message from the backup camera window on the in-dash receiver. My Camera simply doesnt show despite resetting to factory settings. This is true for DVD as well. Please advise.

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 4 роки тому

      You are asking two different questions with two very different solutions. First for DVD playback, you must have the Parking Brake engaged (this might also be called a Hand Brake) in an ON-OFF-ON operation to view DVD video or USB video. If you engage the Parking Brake and still cannot view DVD video, your in-dash receiver may have an incorrect connection for the Green Parking Brake Wire. You can learn more about the Green Parking Brake Wire in this video: ua-cam.com/video/-bF3uzzaT30/v-deo.html You can see an example of video playback from USB here: ua-cam.com/video/IQ9pi87S6Cs/v-deo.html Second, let's talk about the camera. Does the camera have power? Is the camera plugged into the Brown RCA jack on the back of the in-dash receiver? You don't want the Yellow, that's video output. You want the Brown RCA input. That's the one for the backup camera. You can see it here: ua-cam.com/video/DPR5RSI2ymk/v-deo.html The camera needs to power on when the vehicle powers on, and it needs to power off when the vehicle powers off. Just because you have the camera powered up, does not mean you are viewing the camera image. Can I ask a question about the backup camera function in my AVH 170? I like having the camera aimed down far enough to just see the rear bumper of our motorhome, but any vehicle at a normal following distance is obscured by the on-screen text at the top of the screen that says something to the effect that traffic may be closer than it appears. Can that text be disabled from the screen?

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 6 років тому +1

      No, you can't disable the text on this in dash receiver. You could install the camera in a higher location. You can find more videos about the AVH-180DVD in this playlist: ua-cam.com/video/E-KAcYII_tA/v-deo.html

    Great video! I have a AVH490DAB in my 2013 merc sprinter, the reverse camera live is wired into the reverse cable (blue/white). I can get the camera on the pioneer but only if I manually go onto the camera app on the stereo, anyone got any tips on how to make the camera come on automatically when in reverse?

      @deckerdotto6035 6 років тому

      Check out this video for help with wiring: ua-cam.com/video/-bF3uzzaT30/v-deo.html The camera should have power when the vehicle is switched on. Don't use blue/white for this. The camera should have it's own power source when the vehicle is on. The purple wire is used to open the camera window on the in dash receiver when the vehicle is in reverse.

    2011 Mercedes c300 I am using an esky back up camera. I have everything wired in on this very same stereo. My video cable could only plug into a video out on this unit? Is this correct? I am pulling power from my reverse light and have my reverse gear input wire wired into my stereo too and when I put my car into reverse it activates the camera but he screen stays black.

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 6 років тому +3

      The camera needs to plug into the Brown jack on the back of the in dash receiver, this is the back up camera input. You can see the camera input here: ua-cam.com/video/DPR5RSI2ymk/v-deo.html
      The camera should have power when the vehicle is running. The Reverse Gear input tells the in dash receiver the vehicle is in reverse and opens the back up camera window. The purple wire does not power the camera. ua-cam.com/video/-bF3uzzaT30/v-deo.html

      You need a camera. I recommend this one : ua-cam.com/video/kg0IaGC3JbE/v-deo.html
      The camera should have power when the vehicle is switched on.
      The camera plugs into the brown jack on the back of the in dash receiver. You can find the camera input here: ua-cam.com/video/abtjJL0FTds/v-deo.html
      The purple wire on the in dash receiver wire harness needs to change voltage when the vehicle goes into reverse. You can find more about that here: ua-cam.com/video/-bF3uzzaT30/v-deo.html
      Do not connect the purple wire to the camera.

    Hi, I bought a vw transporter with this in it and the camera half intstalled so I finished wiring it up , when i turn on the ignition and the system turns on, it automatically shows the camera which is black until i put the van into reverse then the picture comes on, the problem is it stays in camera mode when i come out of reverse into a black screen again, so I have to manually turn it off on the touch screen. and if I go innto reverse again nothing happens, I have to open the camera from the touch screen to see it

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 5 років тому

      The camera should be wired so that it powers up when the vehicle switches on. And the camera should power off when the vehicle switches off. Powering up the camera does not necessarily mean viewing the camera image. If you wire the camera this way, you'll be able to view the camera image by selecting it on the in-dash receiver source screen at any time the vehicle is switched on. The in-dash receiver Purple/White wire is used to let the in-dash receiver know the vehicle is in it's reverse gear and to automatically open the camera window on the in-dash receiver. Do not use the Purple/White wire to power the camera. Do not connect the camera to the Purple/White wire. In many cases Purple/White is connected to the Back Up Lamp. Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to work with the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera. I don’t know about the operation of other cameras.
      Be sure to plug the Brown camera output RCA into the Brown RCA Input on the back of the Pioneer in dash receiver.
      The Pioneer ND-BC8 camera needs power and ground to operate. The camera should always have power when the vehicle is switched on. And the camera should power off when the vehicle is switched off. This is very similar to the way the Red Accessory wire works on a Pioneer in-dash receiver. Just because the camera has power does not mean you are viewing the camera window on the in-dash receiver.
      The receiver’s violet/white wire is used to let the in-dash receiver know that the vehicle is in it’s reverse gear and, to automatically open the backup camera window on the receiver screen.
      Do not connect the violet/White wire to the camera.
      When you put the vehicle in it’s reverse gear, the violet/White wire should sense a change in voltage. This automatically opens the camera window on the in-dash receiver. And closes the camera window, when the vehicle is taken out of it’s reverse gear. One possibly connection for the violet/White Reverse Gear wire is the vehicle’s backup lamp terminal.

      What model of Pioneer in-dash receiver do you have? The model number is usually printed on the face of the in-dash receiver in one of the corners. This sounds like an issue with the installation of the camera and the Purple/White wire. You can find more about wiring Pioneer in-dash receivers here: ua-cam.com/video/-bF3uzzaT30/v-deo.html Purple/White is used to tell the in-dash receiver that the vehicle is in it's reverse gear and this will open the camera window. When you take the vehicle out of reverse, the voltage on that wire needs to change so the in-dash receiver know to close the camera window. Do not connect Purple/White to the camera. If you have camera view selected from the home screen, be sure to switch it off. @@deckerdotto6035, sure thing. I bought a pioneer backup camera for my pioneer avh-500ex stereo. The cables included for the camera were the positive, ground and RCA. I plugged the RCA cable into the brown "RC in" Port. Then I took the red cable and crimped it together with the reverse brake purple white cable from the provided radio harness. Then I took the ground and put it on a piece of metal. I turned the camera view on in the settings and tested polarity. When I shift in reverse, it doesn't change to the backup camera. When I attempt to manually view the backup camera, no image is produced, only a black screen with the message, "image may appear reversed". I've heard people say "hook the red wire up to the reverse lights located on the transmission on the car." I don't know what to do cus each car is different with the location of things, diagrams barely help at all because they are so vague. And I really don't want to go to car toys and have them charge me 300 bucks for a wire that was supposed to be crimped to something else.

      The problem is in your install. The Pioneer camera should be wired so that it is switched on at all times when the vehicle is switched on. And the camera should power off when the vehicle switches off. The in-dash receiver should do the same thing. You can view the red wire on the camera as the same as the red wire, or ignition wire on the in-dash receiver. The camera having power, and seeing the camera view are two different things. With the camera wired properly, check the Camera view from the home screen. Be sure camera view is switched on in the settings menu. You can see similar operation in a different receiver here: ua-cam.com/video/WY0GLsC3AxE/v-deo.html When you select camera view, you're not switching the camera on. You are only opening the camera window so you can see the camera view. As for the automatic switch to camera view when the vehicle is in reverse. You'll need to properly connect the in-dash receiver's Purple/White wire. More information about the Purple/White wire can be seen here: ua-cam.com/video/-bF3uzzaT30/v-deo.html Do not connect Purple/White to the camera. The Purple / White wire let's the in-dash receiver know that the vehicle is in it's reverse gear. This will automatically open the camera window when the vehicle is in reverse and close the camera window when the vehicle is out of the reverse gear. Many people like to wire the purple/white to the vehicle's back up light. Thanks for the reply@@deckerdotto6035. I was able to get the camera to turn on by touching the red cable on the 12 volt car charger. So, I know it works. I was able to connect it to the reverse lights cable and have it work as well. So now, if I understand correctly, I'll lastly have to connect the purple white wire to a reverse light cable so the stereo knows to switch to the camera view when I'm in reverse. That way I don't have to do it manually every time.
      My dad and I both scratched our heads at this. Even my sister's husband came in and gave suggestions.
      Also, I appreciate the professionalism. Im a checker and have to deal with disgruntled guests sometimes. I know better and failed to act as such.
