    After watching your struggle with changing that seat cover, my patients would be factored in as I advance to the yellow pages seeking an Upholster... You did a great job wrestling with that thing... Even my fingers were hurting, watching you, and I almost bit my tongue !!!

    Your comment about it being harder on a cold day is right on. I have found that leaving the seat cover or whatever out in the sun before installation works miracles.

    I have covered quite a few golf cart seats and I've found that putting the cover in the dryer for 15 - 20 minutes makes a world of difference.

    A lot of those lower seat cushions, you can take a salvage yard lower passenger seat and put them in the drivers side. They are interchangeable on quite a few vehicles. Passenger side is usually always mint.

    Being a big guy who works out of a Ford Explorer Sport 2-door, I have done this several times. In and out of the car several hundred times a day makes the left side of the driver's seat take a beating. I hit the Pick-A-Part Junkyard when I see one and find a matching Passenger seat to harvest the foam and cover. They are interchangeable on my year model and the Passenger Seat always has less wear and tear. I have even added a piece of 3/4" thick piece of rubber matting above the frame to keep the foam from squeezing through the gap.

    I agree with Poot Thatbak -- I'd have worn gloves. I'm collecting too many scars these days.

    Great job. 😉👍🏼

    On my 2009 Furd Xploder I replace the cloth with leather/vinyl on all 3 rows. At the point that you were fighting attaching the rear I found that I needed to reach in between the cover and foam to separate where the velco started to attach and stopped me from pulling the material back.

      While I was at it, I replaced the baseball bat that Ford calls a "shifter" with one from a Flex. More comfortable and doesn't block my view of the center dash.

    After a few colorful metaphors I would finally get it. I did do something similar, but I can't remember what it was, it was a seat cover on something. I'll have a brain fart later and remember. Thanks for the video.

    Now if this was just an F150, because I may need to do this soon, but the back rest. It's probably pretty similar. Keep the good stuff coming buddy.

    I replaced three or four of those on Silverados and found that if I laid it out in the sun for an hour or so it makes it so much more pliable.

    A hair dryer is your friend to add just a little warmth to that vinyl - don't use a heat gun!

      When I did my leather/vinyl conversion I used my steamer.

    • @mattcat231
      @mattcat231 Рік тому +1

      Or toss the new cover in the dryer for about 15 minutes before installing, did probably 60 of these Chevy seats like that

    • @jackcarroll8709
      @jackcarroll8709 Рік тому

      That's an even better idea if done at hom, but not sure that shop has a clothes dryer handy.

    • @jackcarroll8709
      @jackcarroll8709 Рік тому

      Yeah I wish I had a steamer. That's really what you need to a large seat or whole cabin or even deep cleaning, but I don't do enough of that type of work/repair to justify the steamer's cost.

    Why didn't you secure the cover to the cushion with hog rings? needs that for stability so it doesn't cause unnecessary friction of the cushion and seat cover material. very crucial step.

    I hate buying a used car with that seat ripped usually a pass for me, but i did something different with my ranger, i got a seat of the same material and color passenger side seat and just swap the driver side rail, and now a nice seat with a good cushion almost like brand new and 20 bucks from the scrap yard.
