After watching your struggle with changing that seat cover, my patients would be factored in as I advance to the yellow pages seeking an Upholster... You did a great job wrestling with that thing... Even my fingers were hurting, watching you, and I almost bit my tongue !!!
Your comment about it being harder on a cold day is right on. I have found that leaving the seat cover or whatever out in the sun before installation works miracles.
Worst part is all the ghosts of farts lol
😂
Smells like azzzz
A lot of those lower seat cushions, you can take a salvage yard lower passenger seat and put them in the drivers side. They are interchangeable on quite a few vehicles. Passenger side is usually always mint.
Ha my junkyard wanted 40 for it so ima try to cut foam I guess
Great job Kenny!
Your videos are great! Thank you.
Thank you from the Netherlands for all your great video's.
Thank you for your videos!!!
Thanks!
Glad I seen this now I can replace my own in my chevy pu. Thanks for filming.
Good afternoon Mr Kenny hope y'all have a wonderful day
Have to do this to our 2004 silverado 2500 HD EXT Cab. Thanks for showing us how to do.
Great job! You must realize your experience and patience makes it look easy. Meanwhile I would be cussing it till the end!!!😂
Sweet
Probably would have been a bit easier turning the seat on it's back. Let gravity help.
Did my Excursion with leather seats. Was pretty easy and I'd never done one before. Had hog rings too.
After a few colorful metaphors I would finally get it. I did do something similar, but I can't remember what it was, it was a seat cover on something. I'll have a brain fart later and remember. Thanks for the video.
"...Let me go get a plastic hammer." **POP!** 😆
I agree with Poot Thatbak -- I'd have worn gloves. I'm collecting too many scars these days.
Great job. 😉👍🏼
Now if this was just an F150, because I may need to do this soon, but the back rest. It's probably pretty similar. Keep the good stuff coming buddy.
A hair dryer is your friend to add just a little warmth to that vinyl - don't use a heat gun!
When I did my leather/vinyl conversion I used my steamer.
Or toss the new cover in the dryer for about 15 minutes before installing, did probably 60 of these Chevy seats like that
That's an even better idea if done at hom, but not sure that shop has a clothes dryer handy.
Yeah I wish I had a steamer. That's really what you need to a large seat or whole cabin or even deep cleaning, but I don't do enough of that type of work/repair to justify the steamer's cost.
When you started to try and get those plasitc nubs back in the slots,, I started to think to myself this is when we learn Kenny's blood type. Good job
Being a big guy who works out of a Ford Explorer Sport 2-door, I have done this several times. In and out of the car several hundred times a day makes the left side of the driver's seat take a beating. I hit the Pick-A-Part Junkyard when I see one and find a matching Passenger seat to harvest the foam and cover. They are interchangeable on my year model and the Passenger Seat always has less wear and tear. I have even added a piece of 3/4" thick piece of rubber matting above the frame to keep the foam from squeezing through the gap.
I took my seats out of my Silverado to put in Kilmat and I was fighting with both of them to get em back in and it was 100 degrees outside. Had flashbacks watching this. Lol
Well that sounds like a terrible job to do in the heat. I bet you're happy that you did it though. Thanks for watching & keep wrenching
On my 2009 Furd Xploder I replace the cloth with leather/vinyl on all 3 rows. At the point that you were fighting attaching the rear I found that I needed to reach in between the cover and foam to separate where the velco started to attach and stopped me from pulling the material back.
While I was at it, I replaced the baseball bat that Ford calls a "shifter" with one from a Flex. More comfortable and doesn't block my view of the center dash.
Recline the back to open the gap a little ?
I replaced three or four of those on Silverados and found that if I laid it out in the sun for an hour or so it makes it so much more pliable.
Hi Kenny,
Where did you get the seat covers, I didn't see it in the description or in the transcript ....thanks if you see this!
Thank You Kenny. My 2000 Yukon has the same ripped area and the foam is all ripped up. Now, thanks to you, I’ll fix it the right way. (Was gonna buy a seat cover)
Much Love and Hugs
Sry, I laughed when you said "I'll just 'pop' these retainer clips out and push them in later" - that has NEVER been my experience....those plastic buggers are evil!
That tool he used is about the only way to do it. I have plenty of tools, even engine hoists. Engine stands..but i have no xmas tree tools
I hate buying a used car with that seat ripped usually a pass for me, but i did something different with my ranger, i got a seat of the same material and color passenger side seat and just swap the driver side rail, and now a nice seat with a good cushion almost like brand new and 20 bucks from the scrap yard.
Why didn't you secure the cover to the cushion with hog rings? needs that for stability so it doesn't cause unnecessary friction of the cushion and seat cover material. very crucial step.
It would appear that any vehicle Kenny owns belongs in a junk yard😂😂😂
No duct tape? T-shirt?
I'll be dam I didn't know that was that easy to do I was afraid I would tear it apart if I tried
Duct tape! 😂😂
Dorman made something that actually fits ?!?!
Shocking! 😆
Little more complicated with an electric truck seat
Good video but the seat covers it looks very poor; that is made in china,I recommend you the seats made in USA
My mechanic would whack me $900
Anotherwards..PUT ON WORK GLOVES. Hospitals suck, they can never get you back the way you were before you went and done it
Just did mine a few minutes ago after watching this. I put it in the truck cab for about 20 minutes.
