I’m a paramedic from New Orleans who was in the Superdome for that game.
You can’t see it in the video, but the most touching part was that the names being projected on the screen didn’t stop at the top of the screen-they continued onto the ceiling, as though they were ascending to Heaven. When the screen dropped, the names continued.

I want to petition the NFL to have U2 do the Super Bowl for the 25 yr anniversary for 9/11. My husband was FDNY and is a big U2 fan. What they did in that performance was not only a fitting memorial to the people who were lost, but a tremendous uplifting and bringing together the people of America. And in my opinion in this time we need to be brought together again. The four lads from Ireland are our hope! God bless the lost, the first responders, our troops and most of all the world

I always end up back here at some point. Tears are literally streaming down my face. When I need to be reminded of how connected we all are-- I come here. Hands down one of the best, most moving performances at a time when we were all hurting--All of us-- Americans. Together. Grieving. And, collectively flipping our finger to a common enemy--hate. Bravo to U2 for rising to the occasion--and rallying the USA.

So amazing. This may be silly but I also liked Coldplay, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars, especially the end when they did a tribute to all the past performers and ended with the stadium lit in “believe in love.” A message so needed that year that was full of hate and division. And the sheer joy they all had lifts my spirits every time.

On October 5, 2001 I attended the U2 concert at the University of Notre Dame. When Streets started we saw the names flowing up just like in this performance. Not a dry eye in the house. Not only because U2 went on with the show (there had been security concerns) but out of nowhere the band brought out New York Police Officers, Firefighters and first responders they had invited. It was mind blowing. They all stood there together with an American Flag 🇺🇸 and the Irish Flag 🇮🇪. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. I'll never forget this performance .... EVER. It was shortly after the 9/11 attacks on our country where we witnessed pure evil as it took several thousand lives from our motherland.
The national sentiment was one of fear, sadness and desperation. U2 takes the stage at halftime and the names of the fallen on that tragic day, from office workers to first responders, arose like giants from behind the stage and assented into heaven ... one by one .... as we watched and celebrated their lives through song. The raw energy and emotion of the American spirit being revived and rising from the ashes as if to say, "WE WILL NEVER BACK DOWN ... EVER" was so powerful that it literally shook the ground and took the breath right out of you as we watch this epic performance for the ages. From this point forward, Americans were standing as one, united, and ready to fight until our last breath for our freedom, and for the lives of those taken from us. I'll never .... ever forget it ... and neither should you. #GodBlessAmerica

I was not able to properly grieve with the nation because of timing.... When they played this song at halftime, I was at a friends Super Bowl party with 30-40 friends, and I remember the grief just came pouring out of me and there was nothing I could do but let it come.. Having a loved one who is a U2 fan and a survivor and first responder on 9/11, this song brings out many feelings to us. I think that in the state this country is in and with the 25th anniversary of 9/11 only a few years away we should start a petition to the NFL for U2 to be the half time show for the SB or Opening night entertainment (since it’s around 9/11) and replicate this performance. Honor the loss of the 2001 and the loss of life by countless people since then due to cancer related illnesses. Maybe the 4 men from Ireland can once again unite America!!!! God bless the FDNY, NYPD, Port Authority and all the families of the fallen! ❤

We were a fascist nation for a couple of years where people were called anti-american, people were blackmailed into wanting a war everyone eventually regretted, and we went further and further into debt in a never ending fight. That's why the country is split, 9/11 destroyed our nation and the terrorists won. This world now is the aftermath. We were positive for maybe a month or two, disaster after that. I remember myself wanting mass genocide on arabs and hoping we would do it back then, it was a dark time not a good one.
