I was planning to attend GCU online since it is a lot cheaper for me, however, my admissions councilor keeps pushing for me to go live on campus to get that college experience. I’m pretty introverted, so I feel like my time there will be pointless and I just can’t afford it. I’m not willing to take out student loans and go into debt later, since they offer online for the program I want, I’m going to take advantage of that and do it.
She doesn’t have her comments open but I currently go to GCU and I live on campus and girl it is not for people who are introverted, trust meeee. I havent made friends yet, i feel out of place, and personally i feel like people are constantly judging you, there’s also a lot of yt people which kinda scares me honestly. Though i kno not all of them are scary, I actually managed to make some friends from ASU bt I recently had a falling out w my roommates, who are all yt and very much privileged , over the littlest thing and i felt so bullied and looked down on nd i cried my ass out for days. hi there! im currently a introverted freshman living on campus at GCU and everything you had said has resignated so much with me. I plan on leaving too. It feels like since I've moved here everything has fallen apart in a way and that the right decision is to go back home and pursue my degree there. thank you for making this video. i don't feel bad about my choice to move back home anymore.
I saw your video years ago when you first uploaded and I wish I would’ve watched or paid more attention when you explained your situation. I’m now 2 years into GCU and I absolutely hate my experience. I haven’t made any friends and I’ve already had to withdrawal TWICE. let’s not forget that they charge you for every minor inconvenience. So far I’ve spent over a grand on miscellaneous charges due to their unclear policies. Not a great school for first generation students like myself at all. Their on campus student resources suck too. The only reason I’m continuing my education there is because it would be next to impossible to switch over all my credits without having to retake courses and I so desperately wanted to get out of my current home state that I’m manipulating myself into thinking that it’s worth the headache I’ve had to go with, at this school. Education wise, the teachers are great, I feel as though I’ve learned a lot, but I can easily get the same education without all the drama online. I’m glad you found your way out of this school.
You too!. Girl I'm about to leave to sorry but GCU sucks. They based off false prophet motives and the students and professor is assholes and will judge you based off the way you look. And the counselor of mines tried to take away my education and dorm before I got back Into the school for payment for the semester and I told them I would do it. As a parent, I can't believe that your parents didn't tell you to go to a community college in the first place. I got my associated degree in nursing for $10K, I got my Bachelors at GCU online for an additional 15K. I wish you all the luck, but please research before you enroll.
I agree. I regret attending GCU online for my bachelor’s degree, which I’ve completed. So I’m also in student debt. And back in March I’ve applied for my masters degree in early childhood education. And I’ve only been in my masters degree for only three months. Last week, I withdraw from the school. So now I’m looking into community colleges in my state.
I agree with you about the culture. I was an employee there. I have dyslexia and the chair of the department would discriminate because of my speech and writing issues at at times. I also felt I never fit in, at a toxic fake culture. Jesus loves and they don’t. :( Yes, you definitely don’t want to own so much money. Smart choice :)

It can be hard to make friends because people just like to stay in their friend groups. But, a lot of new and incoming students will be coming in this fall so maybe things will change a little. I can understand missing your mom cause your so far away i am close with my mom too and the fact it's REALLY expensive but why didn't you apply to old dominion for your first year? What made you chose gcu?
I did apply and get into ODU! I loved GCU the campus was beautiful, I love Arizona and they had an amazing program for that major that I wanted at the time.
Please join the Army. You can do part time in the Army Reserves (2-days a Month). Go to a college or university of your choice full-time for free. And get up to $60,000 in student loan repayment.
I am getting ready to transfer from GCU to another college, I am not sure where I am going to go yet. But I was just wondering how was your experience with transfering credits? GCU is making me pay $32,000 to move online and they are taking my academic scholarship because I am not longer living on campus. And I just wanted to know how it worked for you? Thank you soo much!
Question about coming to GCU! Does anyone know if social media sites like Tumblr or Instagram are accessible on campus or are they blocked? I'm headed over this weekend!
Heaven Rios I’m about to go into my third year at GCU and I can honestly say that it depends on the ethnicity you’re talking about, having a lot of black people was a big thing for me and it’s more black people at gcu than any other PWI, I love it tbh🙌🏽 you just gotta get yourself out there
Did you experience racism you can be honest there’s plenty of videos of many people of color saying they experience it to the point they left without finishing and went else where to finish their degree
@@kia4020 When I when my niece was going to school there around the same time she did not qualify for scholarships and chose the highest amount of options for Apartments on campus and one of the higher meal plan. Her bill was around 13,600 per semester. We did not qualify for grants and took out loans. So i am confused why you paid 15k a sem? Did you just take out the max amount of loans they offered? Did you qualify for scholarships or any grants. Did they not give you a choice to have a lesser meal plan or room options to bring your costs down? This does not make sense why your bill was 15k a sem.
it is IMPOSSIBLE not to make friends on any college campus. You get what you put into it. Walk the dorm halls in your wing, see an open door, walk in "Hi, I'm...I live 4 doors down, what's your name...?" I cannot stand when people say "I couldn't make friends". This isn't high school and mommy isn't there to catch you. Rant over.
It is very POSSIBLE to not make friends. Especially in an environment where you feel like you do not belong. Everybody does not have the same experiences. Therefore, it might be easier for others to make friends while harder for some.

@@alexiaelliott5766 Im so sorry to hear that. Its nice you still found something you like. Thats a really good school especially if you're from chicago (me). I was considering columbia in chicago, but that school is tooo expensive😭😭😭
Are there parties at GCU
I want to got to GCU, but the payment is too expensive.
My daughter is going in the fall 2022. We are Mormon. We are active. I've already spoken with her YSA Bishop. How bad is GCU for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? I am now worried seeing and reading negative stuff.
You are excellent. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I thought about going to ODU as well ... it’s about 30 mins away
Always do what best for you 😊 love your videos queen 💗
I'm going in the fall and I'm so scared abt not having friends
Damn I got my whole degree for that
I can understand missing your mom cause your so far away i am close with my mom too and the fact it's REALLY expensive but why didn't you apply to old dominion for your first year? What made you chose gcu?
I did apply and get into ODU! I loved GCU the campus was beautiful, I love Arizona and they had an amazing program for that major that I wanted at the time.
Thanks so much for this video. God lead you to prosper for you and your family!
But ok how is the school. It may be because I’m older but I really don’t care about making friends or partying. How is the curriculum and the programs
I would say the curriculum and programs are great! The professors I had were also some of the best.
Where did you transfer to 😢
I’m Bi so I don’t think I could ever got gcu
You still could!! I know there were some girlfriends who got to dorm together and stay the night together!
GCU is a Christian university but they will not treat you different just bc your bi
im gay & im going to gcu but im sooo nervous because of this lol
@@riannaa7628 just don't bring your critical race theory and we can get a long.
Do the GCU credits transfer to other universities? I heard that they might not transfer to other universities.
Wow Omg, because I’m going to attend another college for my masters degree.
Please join the Army. You can do part time in the Army Reserves (2-days a Month). Go to a college or university of your choice full-time for free. And get up to $60,000 in student loan repayment.
Hi! Im attending GCU this semester, but I'm scared of something going wrong :( Are your credits able to transfer?
I’m sure everything will go fine! Yes all my credits transferred that were regular core classes. Such as English, psychology, math and sociology !
Do you have to live on campus to take the online program?
So why didn't you do that initially?
Are there a lot of black people in Phoenix?
Yes there is a good amount.
All of my credits transferred smoothly! I hope everything works out for you tho🤍
Question about coming to GCU! Does anyone know if social media sites like Tumblr or Instagram are accessible on campus or are they blocked? I'm headed over this weekend!
what program did you do at gcu?
Are you the only child?
how's the diversity
non existent lol. Majority of the student body is white. Very few minorities.
Heaven Rios it’s horrible
It's getting bigger minority 🤘🏼
Heaven Rios I’m about to go into my third year at GCU and I can honestly say that it depends on the ethnicity you’re talking about, having a lot of black people was a big thing for me and it’s more black people at gcu than any other PWI, I love it tbh🙌🏽 you just gotta get yourself out there
Did you experience racism you can be honest there’s plenty of videos of many people of color saying they experience it to the point they left without finishing and went else where to finish their degree
How were you paying 15k a semester?
FAFSA
@@kia4020 When I when my niece was going to school there around the same time she did not qualify for scholarships and chose the highest amount of options for Apartments on campus and one of the higher meal plan. Her bill was around 13,600 per semester. We did not qualify for grants and took out loans. So i am confused why you paid 15k a sem? Did you just take out the max amount of loans they offered? Did you qualify for scholarships or any grants. Did they not give you a choice to have a lesser meal plan or room options to bring your costs down? This does not make sense why your bill was 15k a sem.
Hi, is the area safe to live in?
Yes. The campus is gated and has security.
Are there other black girls?
Congratulations 🎊
Why didn’t you feel like you belong there? No black girls ?
for your kind never leave any education good or bad is worth it
it is IMPOSSIBLE not to make friends on any college campus.
You left home for a reason. $ concerns are for those with a culture of poverty!
Ok thanks for this video do what's best for you 👍👍👍👍💯💯💯
