I'm an Oregon State alum living in Kansas now. Thank you so much for streaming this live....I am still devastated by the situation for OSU athletics in general. I can't understand why the NCAA did not intervene long ago, and instead allowed basically two mega media corporations (ESPN/ABC/Disney and FOX) to destroy college athletics. The NCAA should, in my opinion, be a target of litigation, or at least congressional investigation. Same with the media corporations.
Give it a few months. ESPN has been bankrupt for awhile now, and Disney is in pretty much the worst financial shape a corporation could be. It's all about to collapse, and these conferences and the media deals that hold them together will be gone. That's when the real conference realignment will start.
I feel like we should get as many people as possible to boycott ESPN, Disney, Fox for at least a year, so they can feel some of the pain that they are causing these schools, students, and fans.
My favorite line was “Real leaders show up when times are hard”. Second favorite line was “It didn’t sit well with me which is why I didn’t get on the plane… best decision I’ve made”
Jonathan Smith is rightfully a villain right now, but he did pull our program out from the ashes and restored Beaver Pride again. That said, when he was hired I personally wasn't all giddy about it. Aside from the whole, "He's a former OSU QB from back in the day" I didn't really know much about him. I had to go dig into his OC Stats at UW before I started getting optimistic. That all said, THIS HERE HIRE of Trent Bray is the first time I've ever been this EXCITED about a coach hiring. Honestly, I've been pretty down in the dumps about our program. I was just trying to enjoy this season because even before I knew Coach Smith was going to slither off like a snake in the night, I was expecting a fair amount of implosion in the program. I figured this year was going to serve as an audition for players like Damien Martinez, DJU, Aiden Chiles, et al before diving into that transfer portal and cashing in, while the program unfairly withered away in the Mountain West next year. If I'm being honest, I was feeling pretty Bitter Beaver about the outlook of our program. NOW, and I know nothing is promised, and its possible next week we see an exodus of Top Talent abandon ship in pursuit of NIL easy money, but until then, RIGHT NOW anyway, IN THIS MOMENT, I am feeling more pumped and optimistic and just outright EXCITED for BEAVER NATION than I have been in awhile. What whirlwind of emotions this past week has been, but I am so pumped for Coach Bray and Damien Martinez staying, and even though the lawsuit isn't settled, and our schedule hasn't been announced, and we have no TV deal, I'm honestly not even worried -- I'm feeling more optimistic about Beaver Football than I think I maybe ever have been! Can we just fast-fwd the clock to next year and get after it already!!!? #GOBEAVS 🦫 BRAY DAY is here!🧡🖤🦫
The reaction by the players (especially Martinez) has bolstered my hope that Dec. 4th maybe won't be quite so bloody for us. As soon as Smith left, immediately I was anticipating a bare minimum of 50% of the roster to leave. Now, maybe not so much. My greatest hope is that our team stands strong, and decides to stay and fight alongside their new coach. Time will tell.
JS brought us back where we were years before he came in. We had a 10-3 season last year. We need a guy to stay for the long haul, I think TB is the guy, at least I'm wishing and hoping he is. Let's go Beavs
@@thepatriot1930 I’m also inexplicably excited that we have a Defensive coach. I’d like to see the Beavs focus on being a total shutdown type defense. The team nobody wants to face, and where NFL defense careers are made. We’ve been good but I’d love to see us get junkyard dog nasty in shutting down offenses!
My stomach is still churning a bit, mostly because of the instability around the revenue stream given the litigation,....but I am favorably impressed by the "promotion from within" in naming coach Bray, quickly and decisively. We have a good administration that is not passive in any of this, and I think all the athletes in all the sports know that they have athletic department personnel advocating for them. My perception, anyway.
I am a Oregon alum and I am sick to my stomach what the other Pac 12 schools have done to OSU and WSU. The other schools need to withdraw from this lawsuit and just give OSU and WSU ALL Pac-12 assets, only they have a right to it. I hope OSU makes the 12 team playoffs next year, they deserve it.
lol I was thinking the same thing. Bruh, I still have the Jonathan Smith tapes from 2018: “tHiS iS mY dReAm JoB. tHeRe’S nOwHeRe i’D rAtHeR bE. i iZ HoMe.” That aged like milk. 🤣
I dont beleive we would be here today if the PAC-12 was not imploding. Jonathan Smith would probably be still here if there was more certainty around the conference, so in that sense I dont blame him and wish him all the success. With that said, I think Coach Bray is a great decision and I am sure he will carry the program forward in whatever capacity the PAC-12 becomes. GO BEAVS!
Over time I have become more and more cynical about the willingness and ability of big bureaucracies - gov't, educational, corporate - to cut through all of their self imposed B.S., to get to the heart of a matter and to do the right thing. This was the pick I had hoped for, but had little reason to think would actually happen. I am glad to have been proved wrong.
As a Duck fan, there’s no love lost between me and the Beavers. But I never root against them unless they’re playing Oregon. What’s happening to them I wouldn’t wish on Alabama let alone OSU. That being said, there’s NO reason for Bray to S on Smith over why/how he left. If someone was offering him $7.5 mil to go somewhere else to be a HC, he would’ve been on that plane faster than Donald Trump telling a lie!
Bruh. We're shitting on 🐍 not because he left, but how he left. For a lot of us (including my family and I buying tickets to the game) the Civil War game is the most important game of the season and all signs point to him being checked out and not doing his absolute best to prepare the team for the game. Examples include cancelling film sessions, shortening practice during the week, and finally telling the team the day before the game instead of after. He failed as coach on the most important game of the season and I hope he loses by 100 when he returns with MSU next year.
@@davidjvaliente fans I understand, but Bray didn’t have to slight Smith during his presser. JS got offered a better job given the circumstances and he took it. Considering what’s happening to OSU and WSU, ANY coach would jump at the chance de to go elsewhere for more $$$.
According to Barnes, info will be forthcoming "soon". My guess is with the legal setback yesterday and the delay with the Washington Supreme Court, it's having an impact on releasing scheduling information to the general public, as they don't want to do anything that could impact or damage the case.
I feel bad for yall as a MSU fan. The conference realignment shit is the biggest culprit here. Even if Coach Smith denies it. He said he wants to compete at the highest level. The Big 10 is a good place to do that. The Mountain West is not. More history, bigger budgets for staff hires and Recruiting. How could you not leave. He wasn't gonna finish his career there. Yall had to know that. Situation sucks and yall deserve better. Hopefully Bray can bring some stability to them
I think if it had been any other year, Smith’s sudden departure wouldn’t have hurt so much. OSU sports have had a miserable year, relegated through no fault of their own. Jonathan Smith’s choice to leave when he did, seems like the last straw.
He's yours now!! We don't want smith back. We have COACH BRAY!! He was the glue that held this team together!! we don't need pity! I think we'll do just fine. Go BEAVERS!!!!

Trent was asked to 'get on the plane'-- heard very late in process that Smith was leaving.
So why was the black guy asked to be interm? Why was Trent not made interm
@@SweetGuy-d8xwhy is Kifense "the black guy"?
Yeah if you listened to the whole press conference you would know why Kifense, the person, not Bray was named interim coach.
@@joey5picksmelanin. That’s what makes his skin darker.
Scott Barnes said he named Coach Kifense because he wasn’t interested in being HC. Coach Bray was interested in the position.
Good hire! Smith always seemed squirrely. On another note does OSU have a dental plan for employees?
The Brazy era has begun
All aboard the Brazy train!!!

Why do you need to add several minutes of nothing to the beginning.
It was a livestream, and it began a few minutes after it was scheduled to start.
