I absolutely love this car. I think it is a better car than the hyundai and the vw. It also has that Honda quality which is head and shoulders above anything else in its class.
I think it looks great. Unlike most other cars it dares to standout. It's pushing the design envelope and will take you time to adjust that's all. It's designed for the younger driver.
Adam Alistair I'm 18 and I definitely agree with you on the different design aspect of this branch of Honda vehicles. I actually enjoy the physical appearance a lot when compared to the others. It is very eye-catching to me.
kraenk12 - I disagree.. my 2006 civic looks more newer than most cars on the road today. people always hold back at the lights and whilst driving, to look at it. 👀👌
I really dig the design. I think if you're just a little on the fence about it, then you have to see how it looks in person with different exterior color choices. It's sure more exciting looking than my 2010 impreza hatch!
I had recently a chance to test the US spec 1.5Turbo with CVT in a Sport trim level, the one with 18 inch rims and central dual exhaust, and I absolutely loved it. The mix of power, looks, practicality is just outstanding!!! Good job Honda.
I think Honda did a good job with design, both interior and exterior. But they kept more American consumers in mind than customers elsewhere. Still a good car with 270cm of axle span which is awesome. Dashboard design is way ahead of competitors. It is definitely on my shortlist.
What I really like about this new honda is that they adjust themselves to this new trend of turbo petrol but their engines are capable of generating some decent hp. Compared to ford opel or whatever european/german cars. The 1.5 petrol engine is in my point of view the most balanced engine on the market atm.
I bought a 19 plate diesel from a Honda dealer. had it back to the garage 3 times for faults and headaches with electrics including the sharks fin on the roof failed. Tomorrow in its in for all the warning lights came on for no reason and staying on atm.
hah, same. love the back (though yeah, mayyybe the plastic parts on the bumper could have been dialed down a wee bit), but the front's just passable to me.
My brother and his wife have a 2017? Honda. Base model. They had a hyundai elantra 4 door before and had to get the struts replaced 4x within 3 years because they are quite overweight lol. Before the warranty ended he bought the used Honda. 4? Years and lots more driving and he hasn't had anything replaced. I'm impressed with this fact alone! My buddy also drives his cvt Honda like it's a standard hammers the throttle ans brakes hard (makes u carsick) and I'm 4 years never had to replace anything except brakes. Incredible!
Great review, love this new Civic and will be trading my 2013 Hatch on this new 10th gen when it arrives in New Zealand later this year. The 1.5 turbo saloon drives brilliantly, strong gutsy engine combined with excellent road manners. I love the design and agree with previous comments, offensive is far better than dull and boring, this car is no way boring and because it's a Honda and Japanese, it'll be bullet proof. looking for a drive in the type R too. Welcome back Honda.
For me, it's amazing to see and hear the different views and interpretations for the same cars and models, by professional different viewers from the USA, UK, and Europe... totally different conclusions for the same exact cars!
I didn't like it at first but I have been following it for the past couple of months and it has grown on me. Looks well in silver and gun metal grey. Also Honda as a manufacturer are sound.
it's like they took a normal civic and squished the back against the wall..and called it a hatchback..... the proportions just don't match at all .....it needs that longer wheel base for the back.
I loved my 69 plate 1. 0 SR manual. We took it all over Scotland last summer. Brilliant. Swapped it now for a CR-V. Handling and ride on the Civic was superb.
It's not like a Mazda 3, but the look grows on you in a properly good way and it's fairly distinctive enough to set it apart from the competition. Like the wide aggressive stance and the rear ^fake air vent ( at least ) has a design continuity with the front. Prefer the cabin of these Honda over the Mazda.
when this car came out I didnt like it but it eventually grew on me and ending up buying one with no regrets great driving car fantastic gear box very comfortable I've had golfs and to me they dont drive as nice as the Honda civic
I really like this car's design, both exterior and interior, much better than the previous model. While I like dual clutch automatic transmissions, I too would rather skip the CVT and just get a manual instead. Really would like to compare the 1.0 and 1.5 litre models.
i really like the new Civic, it looks less 'busy' in my opinion. But the sedan version looks a lot better, it have that grand coupe design which i love
I am happy to have bought a 2016 Civic which would be the first year of the 10th gen model you are reviewing. (Granted mine is a sedan and not a hatchback) Here in Canada we don't have the 3cyl 1.0 Turbo. Base engine is a 2.0 NA K20C2 which is what I got as in 2016 it was the only option that came paired with the 6 speed manual. We also have the 1.5 Turbo. All in all, I love my civic and I am happy it's a Naturally Aspirated 2.0 with a 6 speed. I guess I am just oldschool and I feel that's the most retro I can get my civic to be. The engine sound is also excellent. Small note, the K20C2 of my civic has nothing to do with older K20's or the K20C1 which is the turbo version from the TypeR. K20C2 is intended for fuel efficiency and reliability. It's apparently been a bit de-tuned by Honda, from what I read the only mod you can do is a "KTune" which will add more responsiveness, lower Vtech start from the pointless 6300RPM to 5300RPM and according to people's dyno runs, an extra 20 ish Horsepower. Tune is also necessary if you upgrade your intake and exhaust.
No I like the flashy styling-only get the manual. I rarely carry passengers so I'm not worried about rear headroom at all. Clever car. Like the Madras hot curry version!
I really miss the cockpit of the European models from around 2006. The cockpit was absolutely mental! A great big curved dashboard with crazy glass trimming and the huge single dial in the middle! Who wants a boring cockpit like the one in this video?!?!
@@PsychSecretsDaily This generation is better trust me, it is a pleasure to drive with a 6-speed manual and the handling is beautiful around bends & curves - It shares similarities with the Type R version like the short-throw sporty gearbox and the perfect sitting position + its also a low car. The "Magic Seats" were on the Jazz/Fit/9G Euro-Civic platform and the gas tank was under the front seats. This Civic is based on the new CR-V/Civic/NA Accord platform, which places the gas tank in its normal location.
A german newspaper tell "less Golf isn't possible". So I try the Civic and it's a really nice car. Good to drive, very nice interior. I like the new design ^^
I think the magic seats have disappeared (pun intended) because they had to install the fuel tank under the rear seats so that they could then install the multilink rear suspension axle... can't have it all!

I think this is a first review on the new 1 liter 129hp. Sadly Matt didn't say anything about average consumption. Still guessing about these modern 1 liter turbos - vauxhall has one, Ford and now Honda offers one.
fuel tank had to be moved to just below the rear seats to accomodate the multi link independent rear suspension. Fair trade off if you ask me, and not sure the last gen U.S. spec Civic had magic seats anyway.
Its def hot!!.. I took the civic turbo for a test ride a couple days ago. It was a blast. But unfortunately just got the Honda Accord Sport SE in October. Love that car too but the turbo had a great kick to it. Can't imagine what the TypeR is like.
Honda civic 2017 is a handsome car imo. The chrome grill (Asian) instead of the darkened (US) in India would be a site hit. Especially love the brown shade
Oh dear. What have they done? I'll keep my 9G Civic Tourer. The Tourer is nicer looking, has a bigger boot and has the magic seats! Whilst I don't use magic seats in the upright position often, it is useful on occasion and also the flat boot is very good. I can't believe removed one of their unique features! The safety aspect isn't new, it was also available as an option with the 9G (and I took that option). Also I don't like that they've moved the speedometer down to the traditional position. love it what they put inside the car(avoiding CVT ofc), hate it what they put on the outside. First thing coming to my mind is how to hide the elements designer spent so much time creating. I'm guessing black is going to be a popular color choice
The upcoming Civic Hybrid should have the same 7-speed dual clutch used in the Fit Hybrid, which is fun to drive: it does rev properly with a sweet sound for a 1.5L.
I love the trunk divider solution. Hats off to Honda. Simple and elegant. I've got a vw golf mk 7 and it still uses this crappy paperboard divider which is just plain embarrassing.
