I got vermicompost from nursery and prepared soil mox... once when i removed soil to check roots.. it was full of earth worms... what to do?
Also there are flying insects which are not mosquitos and are always on the soil
.. whenever I water the plant they fly for sometime and settle down ... what are they...

Whenever i mix neem cake in an effort to solve... fungi develop on the neem cake .. i tried both neem cake powder and neem cake pellets... fungi develops on both... what's the reson? What's the remedy?

Earthworms are definitely gonna help you like a blessing in ur pot
You can put fish bone meal to ur plants
That is very much effective
Neem base whenever you add see that the soil is dry first if u putting liquid fertilizer, secondly mix the neem khal well with soil so that it's not on top & water when the top layer is dry
Also see that u don't add neem base in winter's it creates lot of problems during that period

I dont have access to garden soil for my flowering vines
I just have premade potting mix , got some bajri(orange construction sand ) and have various organic khads.,vermiculite ,hydrated lime
How much of the above do i mix to make a good drainage mix for my 10inch pot.
Please advise as drainage issues are troubling me

I've been using the sponge-like material (they sell for fish tanks) for pots drainage holes. It's very soft and drains only the water and not the soil.

Hi. It was very useful for me as I'm planning to have indoor plants. I have a small doubt. Please solve it.Can I place dry leaves in the pot before planting indoor plants .
Hi. It depends on how confident you are that they are fungus free. The best way to ensure this, is to put them in gunny sack (bori), and leave it in a sunny spot for a month.
Ideally, these should be crumbled by hand and added to your potting mix. They provide a nitrogen fix, and more importantly, improve drainage in the potting mix. This is a organic substitute for perlite.

Most of the soil in my area is sand. Will that work for soil mix or would it be better to just buy a better soil and then prepare soil mix from that?
Thanks for such valuable information. I usually mix exfoliated vermiculite in place of perlite. Reason being most perlite that’s available are fine dust. I hope using vermiculite is ok?
Vermiculite holds moisture, so its a cocopeat substitute. The added benefit of Vermiculite is that it hold fertiliser -such as NPK- and root burn is mitigated. Perlite on the other hand aids in aeration. There are options available which don't supply dust. You are right not to use this dust, as Heaven knows what it may contain!

Love the video Ekta. Thank you for putting in efforts to provide scientific information. I have a query hope you would reply. Soil in my indoor plants becomes hard especially on top also inside the pot but still has good drainage. Though when I water it takes a lot of time to completely seep in . How do I resolve this issue any ideas?
You can use perlites as well as cocopeat in your potting mix....it will retain the moisture...if still it too dries up, then use pebbles on top layer of soil or you can do mulching too....once in 2wks you can till/dig the top soil also....
