These interviews are pure gold, seriously words cannot do justice to what they mean. I truly hope you guys can somehow cover every single Eastman & Laird issue like this, they’re a priceless record for the ages and just incredibly entertaining as well as nostalgic. You should also interview Michael Dooney to cover book 13, which was the very first non E&L issue. He’s an incredible artist and writer as well as an awesome dude. Hopefully he’s watching these!
Leo #1 was one of the most impactful issues of my childhood. Found a reprint when my dad took me to the comic store for the first time when I was around 9 years old. Reread this issue so many times it's barely held together by the staples now. The story infused itself into a fundamental layer of my developing psyche. I still think about it when I have something hard to do, "Would Leo give up?" Never found issues #2-4, never had to. This issue was enough. Thank you guys for this breakdown, it was truly a treat for this middle aged 43 year old man to relive this issue with you!
The headline of this video; Yes! Finally someone is recognizing how great this issue is. People are always praising the GI Joe "silent issue" and, as a Mirage collector for almost 30 years, I often find myself telling people (even other TMNT fans) about this TMNT silent issue and the response is seemingly no one seems to give this book the praise that it deserves. Thank you so much for spotlighting this issue. I certainly hope it sparks the buzz that this particular issue should be earning.
my favorite mirage issue hands down. Neca missed the mark making “Lawson” issue tmnt and they shoulda done them based after 100 percent Peter laird turtles in that style.
I always regularly watch all of these turtles videos like old friends at this point….I don’t want to see the dates on these newest ones hit 1 year…and I keep wishing that Ed & the squad will group up for issue 10 or the Michaelangelo Micro now that Xmas is coming up
@@CartoonistKayfabe It only occurred to me when I picked up the book and read the first issue again. It had been awhile. And then Kevin talked about bringing back Splinter in this issue and it kind of dawned on me.
After how good all the other three "micro-series" were, one would think that by the time they reached Leonardo it wouldn't be possible to maintain that level of quality and "wow" all the way through. Yet somehow, Eastman and Laird did it again. Amazing issue.
Never stop doing these with Pete and Kevin. These videos are an absolute treasure

Peter is the chilliest mother-effer in comics. He’s just like “yeah, I co-created this shit, don’t get a wedgie. You need anything, I’m right here.”
Another fantastic piece of history laid down with this video, and thank you for bringing up that Anything Goes issue Ed!
Such a landmark issue and a landmark episode. Kudos all around fellas
Kayfabe , Choe, Eastman and Laird this channel is the best thing on the internet. Hands down.
Awesome stuff! My personal favorite is the Michaelangelo Chrstmas one! Just felt magical lol All the Eastman & Laird together issues are magic!
Me too! Love that one
This video is important. Thank you.
Thanks everyone
You all did it. You got me interested in TMNT. These videos are incredible. By the way, where did Choe go after the 39 second mark?

I need that Jack Kirby figure. Love these walkthroughs guys.
Thanks for making this happen. 👍
I just picked up leo one shot. Never realized that's shredders face. That's an amazing cover.
These Eastman Laird series are the coolest thing on UA-cam!!!
Not only is this the greatest TMNT issue... it's a greater "silent issue" than GI Joe #21.

This is my all-time favourite go-to channel - this is a true dream come true for an old ninja turtle boy! 😎 Thank you so much 😊
Love these TMNT videos. The turtles were my childhood
once again your guyses video slaps!
They’re back!!! WOOO
Oh damn...I watched its animated adaptation yesterday. Nice timing.
I feel like the first issue of TMNT was a one-shot that they expanded on as the book gained popularity.
They say that in every interview where they talk about the origins of the tmnt

And Kevin is the humble King as well. Living comics legend.
Absolutely amazing! Those pencils 😮

Really cool stuff!
"You are all my sons" - Jack Kirby
Right fucking on!
The most iconic story of TMNT history! 🔥
