Thanks for taking the time to check us out, ComicPOP! Enjoyed the episode -- plenty more volumes to go! :) Talk soon... Tom Waltz
Absolutely our pleasure! Thanks for giving us a watch!
We all know The Last Ronin will need doing as soon as it is complete!
@@kevinbeatsman6998 heck yeah man!
@@kevinbeatsman6998 please
Thank you so much Tom for giving us this amazing series.
This might be the new Ultimate Spiderman where people will now be requesting this series like crazy.
Not that I'd blame them. This is one of the best TMNT media ever.
Shell issues!
@@AnarchicArachnid ok now I HAVE to have it 😀
Agreed, I’m definitely hooked. I’m buying myself a copy and looking forward to more TMNT back issues
Agreed; I've been keeping up with this series and it is so dang good! I too hope Sal will revisit the series
Back isshells @@AnarchicArachnid
In the original comics splinter's name was a parody on Daredevil's master "stick".
And on one awesome parody of the movie called "Green Grey Sponge Suit Sushi Turtles" they called him "Match stick ", which is even funnier!
What I learned from this episode: Be friends with Turtle-Men.
Please continue with the IDW Turtles!!! This episode was so great!! Like this series gets so good and crazy
I SWEAR! ETHAN’S sound logic kills me! "oh! he think he just jumped off you comic pages of your favorite comic?" I was crying laughing through out the entire video! 😂
Comic Pop just uploaded
Me : What could it be this time.
[TMNT Intro playing in Background]
Nice.
When you said TMNT intro, the rad 2003 intro immediately started playing in my mind. How could I not get in on this upload!
The 2012 intro started playing in my head 😅 (louder, because it always does)
As a fan of _Ninja Turtles_ since the cartoon, this is easily my favorite incarnation of them. I seriously hope that you manage to come back to this world one day, and cover as many issues as you can. I understand that they may not rake in as many views as Marvel and DC, but it's nice to have something off-beat and weird every once in a while… and the IDW _TMNT_ is most certainly that.
My wife is a big fan of the original TMNT cartoon and movie, so I got her the first few volumes of this series. Needless to say that she loved it. She loved the reincarnation take and that explanation for the war with the Foot Clan. I haven't read the series, but maybe I will now that I see how good it is
Well gosh just when I was starting to think there wasn't going to be a video tonight not only was I wrong but it's the one I've been waiting forever for. Well dudes and dudettes it looks like major league butt kicking is back in town
I can't believe you guys did this. I feel like I'm suffering from shell shock...Too derivative? How about...Boy, I guess Sal can really shell it out...Too cliche? Well, this was a shell of a good episode!
Brooo, you're a Turtles fan?!
@@Jason_Belmont
Shell yeah!
1:12:42 It's confirmed, Ethan is secretly a member of the Foot Clan.
The most I've ever gotten interested in the turtles in the 2012 series because I watched it on Nickelodeon but when it wanted to go dark, it went dark and gave some of the best versions of certain characters like Shredder and Karai. I feel the mutagen in TMNT 2012 worked the best because they explain away the animal thing by saying if you touched a certain organism recently you will be turned into that or the DNA will be put in the mutagen. If you haven't watched it i strongly recommend
I'm choosing to believe that someone somewhere heard Ben mention Street Fighter here and a series of events took place that lead to the crossover toys and comics we just got now.
YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! I am so glad that you guys finally did this series! This series made me fall back in love with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Great story, great art, and a great group of people to share this book. COWABUNGA!!!
I'm sad this doesn't have enough views. This series is so good and I would love for the gang to continue with some of the other stories like the Gauntlet, Mutanimals stuff or Mutant Town (ongoing as of writing this)
2003 turtles are still the best cartoon.
*TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES.*
\*sick guitar riff*
agreed
It's Over 9000 Productions SHELL YEAH!!!
For me it's between this and the 2012 series i think their both great
Agreed.
Tom Waltz run has been so great. Glad to see you guys doing a back issues on it.
My turtles were 2003 and 2012. The 2012 series Super Shredder was looked bad-ass. He looked like Wolverine mashed with a TITAN monster from Batman Arkham.
And the 2012 series had some real twist and turns. Like at the end of Season 2. April and her friend Urma were attacked by the Foot Clan and went to the lair, but it turned out Urma was a Kraang spy and that set off the Kraang Invasion and the MASS MUTATION of NYC, causing the Turtles, April and Casey Jones have to leave the city for half of Season 3.
TMNT 2012 is my favourite version, followed by IDW
The IDW Turtles is so good! Easily my favorite version of the turtles and their world
"What if it's my call to adventure?!" - a true comic book fan!
The moment this episode ended I went to Comixology and started reading Vol. 2. Thanks for putting me on.
@@furkan9875 yes very much so
i ended up buying the whole series, due in part to this video, i had to stop the video after 20mins, order the book, read it, and come back, having read vol 6 of 12 now, its just getting better and better.
what i really like about these volumes is that they collect all TMNT IDW Stories in one volume, in reading order, so i dont have to buy TMNT Universe, or the macro series, or worry about if i'm getting everything or not, i know i am.
Bay turtles: it actually heavily implies that the reincarnation thing is Canon, namely during the first movie, during the story of the Warlord. You can see the crest of the hamato family as seen in idw is shown on the wall as representing the forces that are opposing the warlord . It's weirdly downplayed/skipped over in out of the shadows.
I wouldn't call that heavily implied. Comes off more like a minor reference if anything.
@@HOTD108_ the fact sachs brought it up so off handedly and the final act revolved around shredder attempting to do exactly what the war lord did, and the references earlier in the movie that "his" foot were better than the ones karai has and that sachs feels like his armor needs an upgrade implies he's been around especially if the story beat that Oroku saki actually raised sachs
This redux just works. It's a real have your cake...and eat it too of new & old. And like all versions of the Turtles outside the cartoon the notion of them being "Teenage" is completely supperfluos.
IDW TMNT is so good, Old Hob is so cool
Nice the og turtles finally showed up after having their modern version crossover with batman
I’m waiting for vanilla ice to pop up and sing “go ninja, go ninja go!”
Here's hoping for more IDW Turtles on Back Issues
Ethan's face in the Splinter explanation is priceless, i was really expecting a "that doesn't make any god damn sense"
This was a really fun episode!
I love how you can identify inspirations from the franchise's different eras.
I’m so glad you guys went over the IDW series, and I loved Ben’s reaction when he was finally on board!
I will never forget going to NYC as a kid and any time we walked past a sewer looking to see if I could see the Ninja Turtles.
55:09 lucky for stockman he's not working for shredder, otherwise he'd just cut off a body part every time he messed up like in the 2003 series. I'm not lying either that actually happened
There’s been to many prequel references, and I love it. Would also love to see more of this series
"face it tiger, you just won the jackpot"
"with great power comes great responsibility"
"hulk smash"
"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor"
"I'm April"
The most iconic quotes from comics
SWEET!!!! Another turtle book on back issues. I really hope it gets enough views for yall to review more turtle stuff.
You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for someone to cover this run of the turtles!
Ah, Turtles Forever. The movie that spent it's entire run time making fun of the original cartoon.
Also, I'd definitely be up for more Turtles stuff on the channel.
I liked the movie as well as the 2000s series in general. It fell apart the more they pushed it like going to the future and then the Tron stuff
@@ctl6985 The 2003 show was great. It got hokey at times, but that was in keeping with the Turtles as well.
blame peter laird
I'm with Sal; when adventures makes a collect call... you accept the fucking charges!
such a great story and good episode. you guys are seriously the ones who are getting me back into comics one back issue at a time.
1:14:00 Sal perfectly explains the brain of a young adventurer
"I did know if it'd be worth it." It was totally worth it bud, you got a new subscriber from it. You keep covering TMNT and I'll keep watching.
Check out the backlog. They've done some TMNT crossovers before.
@@DM0M0 Ty very much. I'll do that right now. I just bought the TMNT vs Batman movie for my nephew and enjoyed the Batman vs Shredder fight thoroughly.
I love sal explaining how the magic scepter isn’t magic! Lol great episode as always!!
18:48, I love every single part if this conversation
This turtles run is fantastic . I've been a fan for a long time and I am perfectly content with the changes they made to incorporate all the turtles lore. Eastman is involved so this cannon. I hope it continues and the turtles franchise comes all the way back
Man, I've been waiting for you to cover this series for a while! It's soooo good!
3:20
I always preferred what the first & second movie established: if you expose a creature to the ooze (turtles, wolves, ninjas, etc.), it essentially mutates them into intelligent super-soldier versions of what they were.
This episode got me into the IDW comics and let me tell you, it’s one of my favorite series. Thank you!
This story was incredible. Loved it. Fun, poetic and cool. I can see that Sal really reveres it and Ethan and Ben did too.
The art kinda didn't do it for me in this book but the writing just gets it
So
Sal is Leo
Ethan is Don
Ben is Micky
And tiffany is Raph
Wouldn't she be Venus De Milo?
Reginald B
no cause she is one the mains of comicpop
Lance Arroyo Her cat is Casey Jones
I don't know how long you guys had 80,000 subscribers but I just noticed so congratulations 😃😃
Where did you see eighty thousand? I see a 100k🥴
The end conversation was so great 😄
Cool to see the Turtles get an episode! The reincarnation angle in this is interesting.
I love that the creation of Bebop and Rocksteady shows us that the 1980's cartoon designed SOLEY to sale toys was smarter and better written than the film made in the 2010's.....
I really hope you guys cover the entire IDW series someday! But this is the first step! As always, you guys deliver!
7:03 someone actually remembered the 2003 series? Finally!😀😃
Best incarnation of the TMNT
Absolute! 🔥🔥🔥
Yaaaa! A new back issues AND I just noticed the Gambit, Rogue, and Deadpool block behind and above Ben! NICE!
when one series has done so many remake at some point you just start throwing shit to the wall but it's dope
Having not read this, I only think of Casey Jones as the 1989 movie version, so describing him as a competent young expert in self-defense is... strange.
Too sleepy to watch this but just wanna say, any time you guys do teenage mutant Ninja turtles, it'll get my upvote
Please do more of this series! I was legitimately enthralled the entire time
I like how they worked the same color and multicolor masks into continuity.
It's about time! Thank you for this video here. You have no idea how long I waited for this. Again, thanks to The Comic Pop crew for this.
This is great keep doing this.... and Ultimate Spider-Man both please god
I picked up the first volume after watching this and god damn is it fun. Would love to see you guys cover more from this series.
TURTLES COUNT IT OFF!! ONE!! TWO!! THREE!! FOUR!! TURTLES!!
Really fun book, I enjoy the mix ups from what I've known about the turtles. First volume prominently shows the best turtle of the 4, I can respect that.
Dang, this episode is fantastic. I really hope they do more TMNT collections.
Please make another episode on the IDW Turtles!!
Got goosebumps watching this. Great story and storytelling 💯
So, these versions of the turtles are the mutated _sea_ turtles?
...It's only a matter of time until IDW and DC gives us an Aquaman/TMNT crossover now!
The last few minutes is priceless
It's 12:25 AM... GOOD THING I DON'T HAVE WORK!
My family and I all appreciate that each generation gets their own generation of Turtles (writing this at the time of the Seth Rogen TMNT movie)
My older brother grew up with the OG show, my younger brother grew up on the '03 anime inspired one, we've watched cousins and friends' kids grow up on subsequent eras of movies, shows, etc.
Like the titular terrapins, TMNT is a media franchise with an incredibly unique longevity
The design of the turtles change in the next issues making them just like the Nickelodeon 2012 series. That just kill this for me
Let me know when the "I'm going to hit you with my arctic fooooox!" T-Shirt comes out. And there needs to be a picture of Ben shooting out an arctic fox a la Dragon Ball/Street Fighter.
Loved this episode, love the turtles! Also you mention of how rare the earlier publications were in the beginning. I have a few of those Mirage issues plus a trade of their debut series printed by First comics!
i almost thought we were gonna get an ethan call back of "that kitty's got claws" haha i can't even remember the episode but twice I thought he was going to pull out that ol zinger! It's 4am and i couldn't sleep, might as well push through the day, worst part of vacation [staycation] is your sleep cycle getting fucked when you don't have to get up at 4:30 every morning. maybe i'm a nighthawk at heart cause four days shouldn't be enough to get sleep cycle that criss crossed. que sera, amigos, que sera
Going back to this episode after watching the Last Ronin...glad I did. Raphael drunk fighting another one of those penguins. You guys are like great movies, always something new to catch...until it not lol
18:44 lmao Billy Madison.
I’ve literally had the first volume in my book shelf unread for months, I need to get to reading this, definitely love a book all about family, and it’ll be nice to reconnect to my childhood.
Instant sub. Love IDW TMNT. I know what I'm listening to tonight.
I'm so excited! I've waited years for you guys to do the Turtles! Thank you!
This is awesome! Had one of the artists recently on my podcast show The Comic Chronicle Podcast and going behind the scenes of this series with Sophie Campbell but then also my favorite and the best UA-cam channel talk about it too is truly glorious!
Great episode. Just came to the comments to endorse "Ninja, Please".
👍 Carry on.
This was so cool. Went to bed thinking there wasnt a back issues and woke up to the one I wanted the most thanks ComicPOP!!!
I’ve been interested in picking this series up. Now I’m gonna have to! Thanks for covering this!
There are two types of people in the world, those who run from the turtle man and those who acepte the call to adventure. I am the latter.
It would be epic to see you all hit all of these volumes in an ongoing series! Just saying. My vote is cast! LoL. Loved this one y’all. Great discussion.
now that the series has ended would love to see more of this run.
00:35:20 when I heard Yoshi all I could think of is that Yoshi sound from Mario
I loved this episode. Definetely going to start reading TMNT now
Dayum...😮...this is some pretty riveting ish...🤘🏼💯✔️
Good lord you guys are seriously my favorite channel.
I didn’t realize until I was watching this episode how much I know about the turtles and just how long I’ve been a fan of the turtles. Also, ‘03 cartoon will always be my turtles
Love the video but most importantly love the Billy Madison reference
College move in day was good now I can finally binge back issues I missed
57:58 this was when I realized the foot was a pun on the hand
Thoroughly appreciate all of the Prequel Trilogy references in this episode 😂
