      Same here, now there are places that you can buy them you just have to search wherever you're at, they're usually around 50 to $60 a pound but to me it's worth it! 😊

    What state. Not trying to steal your spot just trying to get a feel for the temperature.

      I'm in central Indiana, and it's looking like my area has basically been skipped. They started early and we had a cold front dropped a half inch of sleet followed by 2 frosts. I've found quite a few but not nearly like normal 100 miles north has been finding more and better we may get another flush. Though happy hunting

      Lol, that's a lot of turtles, maybe their like elephants and you've found a graveyard 🤣. Or there's a critter there that eats the snot out of turtles.

      @getyasomeoutdoors9507 Probably some kind of spill, or poison or pollution killing those turtles. I would keep an eye on that, if you really found that many shells of dead turtles. Not good

    I’m in Southwest Michigan, and we never find many of them around here. We find a few here and there and maybe end up with a dozen for the entire season! We used to live further inland and further south near the area and it was much better hunting down there. Wondering where you’re at in the country?

    Are you looking for dead and dying cherry trees, like for elms, Or alive?

    • @getyasomeoutdoors9507
      @getyasomeoutdoors9507  5 місяців тому +2

      Alive cherry trees but the good one's usually have damage. Once you start finding them you'll usually notice they are growing right by the fallen branches of the trees. If it's leaning hard they'll be under the leaning side. Hickory trees do this too. I'll show that soon

    We find the blacks around the black cherry trees. That’s primarily all we find in this area.

      Fresh blacks are my favorite, I'm lucky to find 10-15 a year though. It didn't used to be that way. We use s to find mostly blacks.

      It seems to get windier and windier every year. Been awhile since my area has had primo conditions. Good luck they are definitely into Michigan now, and central indiana is about done. We may get another flush. Definitely a poor year in my area. North and South did well. Good luck

    It's funny I just went to one of my spots this evening. Morels grow there every year. I found them March 26 they were further along than previous years. April 4th I picked a couple and left one to spore out. It's was damaged. So today I went back 4/16. I found 7 that I missed early. If I would have went 10 more yards I would have found them. I picked 2, the others were a little past their prime. So I left them. But right there next to them was a box turtle. Lol. I immediately thought about what you were saying about box turtles.

    • @getyasomeoutdoors9507
      @getyasomeoutdoors9507  5 місяців тому +1

      I find them a lot near mushroom spots, even when they were on indianas' endangered list. I almost never find a mushroom with a true bite taken out of them though. That's the only reason for my skepticism! 👍

      @@getyasomeoutdoors9507 I think snails and slugs chew on them more than any box turtle. I say if the turtles want a bite have at it. Box turtles lay eggs every year near my garden. I have videos and pictures of them year after year females laying their eggs here. I even have pictures of them mating one year. I let cover for them grow on my place so they must like it. It's cool to see them come back year after year.
