Wow. I'd imagine if you did have a toothache it would certainly lesson its intensity.

Idk if I’d eat those but I do wonder if a tincture could be made out of them?

Hey there! That's a great idea, I'm sure a tincture could be made out of the leaves and flowers. Could have some medicinal uses.

Interestingly, the plant that you say contains Spilanthin is called "Spilanthes Acmella" or more commonly just Spilanthes, and that's pronounced spilanthees like the ee in bees. For some reason it's commonly sold by hippies at farmers markets in California and I am not sure what they do with it, they might make tea, interestingly though, there's Asian recipes mixing it with Szechuan pepper to get more of a numbing effect than the pepper alone, so if you are growing it just to get people to taste for fun occasionally you should look into the ways its used in foods and make a "hot and numbing hot pot" with added spilanthes flowers to make it more numbing.

That's a great idea! Thank you. I saw a cocktail at a restaurant that served it as a garnish. Pretty interesting!

@@inchwormgardens That sounds awful, LOL, probably a pretty fancy restaurant too. I have seen some fancy restaurants including one of the most expensive ones in San Francisco garnish food with borage flowers with the spiny base still on them and one UA-camr saying to add them with the spines base into mixed drinks. I fell bad for unsuspecting customers. The last time I ordered a mixed drink at a fancy restaurant, which I almost never do, it was a liquor infused with an "herbal tincture" and sounded safe, but whatever herb was in it made me extremely drowsy, almost falling asleep. LOL, I guess the moral of the story is know what plant the restaurant is adding to your drink.

@@inchwormgardens I recorded a video, but have not uploaded it yet, because I was looking for mixed drink recipes using edible flowers and a recently posted "article" by a "mixed drink expect" told people to go out "into a field" and pick "wild carrot" flowers and put them into mixed drinks, with a tiny picture. I emailed these people and they didn't answer or change it, there have been lots of people poisoning themself thinking hemlock is wild carrot, some using plant apps that mis identify it, so I made a video infusing safe flowers into vodka including borage, the right way, without the spiny part. I will tweet my video to the "drink expert" because I'm concerned not just about individuals trying that but bartenders doing it then serving what may be a poison tincture to people. And I am also just in disbelief that they printed that and ignored my email.

@@inchwormgardens You should do that because the tincture sells for like $15 in California at our local store and the ingredients for tincture are the plant and alcohol, vodka will work fine for most plants but a few need to be extracted in ever clear. The $15 bottle probably has about a shot of liquor in it.
