Tying you own flies and catching fish with them is very satisfying. Keep tying girl, have funtry tying some of your own designs and keep track of how many fish you caught on a certain pattern. Writing in a log book of your adventures will insure you have the memories to look back on. When I fished, it usually took two hours to write my log book.
There's nothing like catching a fish of a fly you tied yourself!! I STILL get that feeling when I catch something on a new pattern, too! Unfortunately, we don't have Northern Pike in my area. Best we can do is Chain Pickerel, and they're fun on a 3wt setup, but that is a truly epic fish!
I caught a 36 inch pike with the same fly that I tied. He took it a foot from the boat. I was just ready to lift my line up and he inhaled it. What a fight. You really have to tie that fly sturdy because they will destroy it on you. Works great in overcast weather.

Incredible how she changed rods just after the hookset. Well done!

Is that red material the same as craft fur or ep fiber?
