Videos circulating on social media purportedly show a patriot battery deployed in Kyiv firing several barrages of missiles at incoming Russian targets. Sorry. But the missles are full of fuel. They go down in flames. Only a small part of the missle is its actual warhead. So, even though it was intercepted, you still have to deal with the wreckage. When they're shot down mid-flight, there's a good chance the warhead isn't going to detonate. By trying to overwhelm the AA with numbers, they created a rain of fire all along the flight path to the target. Im 100% sure thet no idea it was going to happen. It's also common practice to move your cache when it's location becomes compromised. Best way to do that, is let them think it's all been destroyed.

Second stage: vertical descending flight at 14,800 km/h to hit the target.
With a mass of 2,000 kg, including 500 kg of explosives, and a speed of Mach 12, the Kinzhal rocket has a kinetic energy of more than 16.9 Giga Joule (GJ), which is equivalent to an impact power of 4,000 kg(detonation power not included) of TNT on the target. At 14,800 km/h the power of the impact is much greater.
A Patriot missile has no chance of shooting it down but Ukrainian government reported that six Kinzhal missiles(100%) were destroyed by Patriot that night.
There is also a high-explosive fragmentation warhead weighing 480 kg. At a relatively high altitude - about two kilometers - it throws out an undisclosed amount of submunitions. Their explosion (presumably) at a height of about 50 m leads to the destruction of a huge area by fragments. There is no doubt that it was precisely such a warhead that was used in this case against the Patriot. A multifunctional radar station was hit and completely destroyed, as well as five launchers of anti-aircraft missiles.
On March 18, 2022, a large underground warehouse filled with aviation missiles and bombs of Ukrainian troops near the village of Delyatyn, Ivano-Frankivsk region, was destroyed by a Kinzhal(Dagger) aviation hypersonic ballistic missile. The missile head pierced the ground and exploded inside the warehouse located at a great depth.
It destroyed one of the central nuclear weapons storage bases, known as "Object 711." This underground military base consists of two floors and is at a depth of 150 meters underground. It was built in 1955, it was believed that it was capable of withstanding the impact of an atomic bomb. It was considered one of the safest storage centers for missiles and other munitions. The nuclear warheads of strategic and tactical missiles of the USSR Armed Forces were repaired there.
It doesn’t matter what the mass of the warhead is if it cannot get to its target. The remains of one was found at the Kyiv Zoo this morning.

As for the hit to the patriot the Pentagon eventually got around to calling it indirect hit. So this could literally mean that a low to the ground successful interception took place, causing damage, or debri hit.
Either way we know the Radar was it touch which means a missile pod was damaged. Probably didn't matter because that pod was likely out of missiles at that time.
Patriot system has a known history of failure to intercept effectively.

Well, it seems to me like Russia is fully committed to winning the war against Ukraine and NATO. Don't kid yourself, the whole of NATO is involved in the war. The question is, what does winning the war mean to Russia? It seems to me that Russia's goal has changed from protecting the areas annexed in 2014, to the full capitulation of Ukraine because with NATO arming Ukraine, only the full capitulation of Ukraine makes sense now.

Assuming each Patriot defense system costing 5 million and transportation, training and logistics around 10 million, so 2 such batteries would have drained a whopping 20 million USD.. It is cheaper to fool any air defense by swarm drones and decoy firing such tactics would cost just fraction of fortune.
