Edit: Turns out it's not Hulshult either.
By all accounts it seems Andrew Hulshult will be back to score TDA. He did work on both of Eternal's DLC's (Reclaimed Earth, Blood Swamps, Davoth, etc.) and had previously worked on the game Dusk. He definitely has a different, more classical style compared to Mick Gordon but, as you say, a different approach might actually be more appropriate for the kind of game they're going for. Less electronic and bouncy and more of an even tempo with a strong forward drive to reflect the feel of the gameplay.
We need DooM death for this game
@@mathieuschafer1360 why would he die this game takes place before doom eternal
@@Shin_chickenzilla DooM death metal
Death metal with the DooM style
I’m sorry to say but Andrew has confirmed he is not coming back 😢😢
@@InteractiveCarrot Literally just learned about this lol
While I'll probably prefer the style of Mick, I think Andrew will capture the heaviness of this entry. We're supposed to feel like a tank/monster truck in this one opposed to the jet feeling of Eternal.
I am just thanking God. That there is metal music. That is all music I want in any Doom. Amen.
Andrew Hulshult did a pretty good job with Eternal's second DLC and also had previous experience with Doom games. And honestly - if the dark ages plays in the... well, dark ages of the doom universe, more abstract music like in doom 64 would fit the bill perfectly. And that's done by Aubrey Hodges.
So what exactly is the problem with the music?
In my opinion? The fan expectations.
To be honest out of all those trailers my favorite music is the Dark Ages one, Mick is obviously an awesome composer, we need to hear what the rest of the soundtrack in the game will be to know if it's as good, better or worse, and even than, music is very per taste thing, some might like it more some might like it less.
True that
SO REAL FOR THIS
Oh no! Not djenty and awesome metal!
Tbh, I was hoping we'd see more brutal metal in the trailer. Like less djent and maybe more like old school death metal or even brutal death metal.
Very had for old school death metal to make it's way into a video game 😅 maybe it could work for a boomer shooter, doom spinoff
The new doom games without Mick will never be the same no matter who they bring in. ID made a HUGE mistake
Eh, everybody is hoping, that the gameplay loop of eternal is over now... :D And then the music of course also would have to change.
Who is it tho? Cuz its not hulshult and not devid levy 🤔 and who are behind this masterpiece
It's a secret right now
@@AtlasBenighted ye very true and perhaps I do know who actually made the soundtrack for it ( this is just a hunch btw ) I do think it is Strely 🤔or geoff plays guitar (not imposible tho)
Honestly i think i have a stronger prefer for Andrew's music than i did for mick's overall.
The world spear and blood swamps was enough proof to me that the new game will probably have atleast a few bangers.
But then again mick's range is from my perspective ranges from eh to god tier. Some of the less talked about tracks that mick has done are absolutely amazing. Though the popular one's are a mixed bag for me.
Meathook, and the e1m1 music doesn't sit well with me.
But stuff like BFG division, the hell guard ost, flesh and metal aswell as cultist base are stellar examples of what i really liked.
One big misconception is that the trailer musics are present in the game. Almost never the case, except for maybe Eternal’s launch trailer festuring the Cultist Base ost.
Hugo Martin even flat-out said that they always make dedicated music for just the trailers.
Bummer, because a lot of trailers have amazing music under them.
2016 reveal and launch trailer, Eternal’s Phobos reveal.
Hopefully this banger from Dark Ages will be fleshed-out, bc it slaps!
I hope that music was hype that’d be a shame not to add it, it complimented the gameplay very good so there’s a chance it could be in that game
this is just a straight lie
Andrew Hulshult has done music for Quake, Doom, Dusk, Amid Evil, Nightmare Reaper and Prodeus; the new Doom soundtrack is in good hands. Personally I don’t know if I’d want to sit through another whole Doom game with a soundtrack that sounds like that one KoRn album they did with Skrillex.
"sounds like that one KoRn album they did with Skrillex."
Well said 😂
Hulshult does a serviceable job. He's *fine* I think. But that's it. Just 'fine'. I do agree that his songs do sound a big generic often. And they all blend together and sound the same for the most part. He doesn't have the musical range and variety of Mick Gordon, that's for sure. You name the genre of music, and Mick can produce it. But I've never heard Andrew Hulshult make any style of music that wasn't 'djent-metal'. All his music is the same style, in every game in which he's done the soundtrack.
Andrew Levy (the other guy who did music for Ancient Gods DLC) is much more talented, in my opinion. It's all personal preference, but his tracks in Ancient Gods were a little bit more interesting than Hulshult's (though I'll admit that Blood Swamps is a masterpiece of a song). I've also checked out David Levy's work in other games and media productions. And he has the sort of range and musical flexibility that Mick Gordon has. He's made music from various styles and genres and it always sounds fantastic.
If we had to choose between Hulshult and Levy to do the soundtrack, and we could pick ONLY ONE, I'd vote for Levy. Sorry for the wall of text.
That's fair. I personally haven't heard the music from the DLC. I'll check it out
I expected the music to be different, but this is straight up generic af lmao
Can't wait for the Mick Gordon ost mods (?)
The game isn't out yet... You haven't heard any in-game music.
L take
It's a good thing the video had good content. Otherwise I would have thumbs down as click-bait.
Look at your content and name your videos better!
What you mean by "naming your videos better" truly means " making less views" cause that's what it takes to get them, I don't blame nobody for clickbait when it's not too obvious and the content is good like in this case. It's like the golden standard, you either do clickbait or leave money on the table
The new music just sounds like any other lame generic metal. Nothing creative or unique sounding about it just the same boring guitar riffs. A complete downgrade Mick will simply never be topped.
The game isn't out yet... You haven't heard any in-game music.
On top of the game not being out yet- The music in the trailer is likely a demo. When Eternal gameplay was showcased at Quakecon, the music was *also* a demo. It’s not final.
I urge you to go listen to Hulshult’s other works. He’s a fantastic artist. If you don’t think he can capture that “Doom” feel, listen to the Doom Eternal: The Ancient God’s OST. He scored several tracks alongside David Levy.
Did you ever watch the gameplay reveals of both 2016 and eternal? They were both incredibly different and not final
Stop complaint and wait for the release
honestly
Too early to say. I will agree that Mick's music is S tier.
