- This is my first day with Softpop 2 by Bastl Instruments. Come hang out with me as I learn on the fly, and perform my first jam. Aaaalmost a little tutorial baked in there :D Also present is the TX-6 mini mixer. It works well, and sounds good.

Amazing stuff. I love this little synth, I'm hoping to have it feature on my next release. The Softpop 2 is an amazing sequel, everything great about the first plus tons of improvements/features. Its def bonkers. Thats the right word for it :)

semi-modular usually just means that some connections are normalized to a default path. if anything it is just makes it 'better'
Yeah, but the word “semi” has a kinda vibe like it’s not fully modular. But it is. Just like you say.
It's funny how language evolves like that, especially jargon. Because of course, "full" modular just means you're absolutely compelled to patch stuff manually if you want to hear anything. While it's optional in semi-modular. But that's a really weird way of phrasing it when you think about it, more accurate would really be "cables mandatory" and "cables optional" or something.
Because "semi-modular" almost sounds like you might have only a couple of patch points rather than full control over every parameter. Of course, some semi-modular stuff IS like that... but some (less, but some) fully-modular gear can be too! So one doesn't necessarily go with the other.

I assumed the SP also stood for Softpop, so it's full name is the Softpop Softpop 2. At least, that's what I've been calling it in my head lol

Those sliders n faders look really wobbly.
If they were built steady then if think about buying this piece of kit: great way to learn about CV in a small unit that doesn't take up a euroracks with of storage in your home/studio, but a lot of sound manipulation within such a tiny box is insane!!
The unit is really well put together a minor amount of wobble but generally very solid + it’s amazing !

Yes you can the scale quantise and pattern recording is easy and it can sound very mellow and tuneful -watch loopop review to see a different side to it ?

Remember when the op-1 was 799 :/. Then they kept increasing the price year over year because they realized they could become a luxury status symbol company over a music company. I want the op-1 field some day but man it is not worth 2000. Also whack for a 2000 dollar synth to have fucking Velcro permanently on the back of it.
