This is an easy quick fix 🔧 without buying a new Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) or Clockspring. This procedure should be done AFTER turning the wheel 2 times to the right and 2 times to the left and then back to the center (to confirm that the SAS does need to be reconfigured).
If it comes back on (right away or within a week), then do this BUT BEFORE replacing the SAS or Clock Spring. If problems still occur then a SAS or ClockSpring may need to be purchased.
ONLY tool 🧰 needed is a Torx T30 screwdriver that is 3-4 inches long (Anything shorter will NOT help). ⚠️ Do NOT use a power drill, as you risk over torqueing the screw and possibly the unit.
Here is the item it costs around $8: This beats paying hundreds of dollars for parts and labor! Not to mention your valuable time.
👉👉👉 Torx T30 screwdriver: amzn.to/31V61oA
This procedure will take about 5 minutes ⏲️ to fix!
This problem occurs usually when making a slight left turn. Somehow the SAS got loose which causes the codes to illuminate.
This is a common problem on so many vehicle models. This is a small list of some of them (Add your model in the COMMENTS if not listed below):
Chrysler 300
Dodge Durango, Nitro, Challenger, Charger, and Grand Caravan
Ram 1500
Jeep Liberty

I had this issue on my 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T. The ESP BAS lights would come on after making a left-hand turn when the directional signal canceled. I discovered that if I manually canceled the directional signal following a left-hand turn before it canceled automatically, the ESP BAS lights did not come on. I also had codes C121A and C2205. I drove it that way for about two years. I discovered recently that the cruise control wasn't working as well. I just tried the simple procedure you explained and it corrected the problem with the ESP and BAS lights coming on. The cruise control also works now! Thanks so much!
Good info, but glad you ultimately fixed it!
Ok so i had this light on n off for about a year. Had a diagnostic it said the angle sensor. Few mechanics told change it etc. i tried this and IT WORKED! Ran it few weeks now to make sure before i commented. Gotta be honest idoubted it would work but thanks man!👍
Thanks for sharing. Most mechanics get paid to replace. Fixing something that takes 20 mins means less money for them. Oh and u don't kneed them. Hope people learn about this "secret". Save 💰!
I watched this video a couple months ago and finally got around to doing this a few days ago and it fixed mine. I got that code every time i turned left. Had to come back and give a thumbs up and say thanks.
Glad it worked and thanks for letting me know this video has made a difference for so many other people.

Had to come find this video, sense my 08 magnum was doing this. The truck worked like a charm, no more light. Appreciate that my man.
awesome!!! glad it helped and that you saved money !!! and time from going into a dealership.
oh yes!! I was skeptical at first of course.i want to thank you for posting this video and knowledge.thank you so much.none of us car people can stand lights like this.thank you.
I replaced my multifunctional switch and clock spring about a year ago and the BAS light has been on ever since. I did this procedure and it went out!!!!! Thank You so much for this video.
I'm so glad this helped I only wish you could have saved money before buying the parts, but at least knowing the lights do not come on for you anymore is great and I am assuming that your traction is now good which should keep you safer on the roads!
Oh, I had to change the multi-function switch in order to get the wipers to work at the correct speed and the new switch cured that problem. The clock spring broke and the signal lights were not turning off and the clock spring fixed that problem. So, I didn't waste any money. I just coudl not get the BAS light to go out until I saw your video! Thanks Again!!!
Aye so my turn signals don't go off by themselves either...plus my BAS light and traction light is on too...so I most likely need to change the cLock spring or the steering sensor?
after change the multifunctionalswitch the BAS light comes on and stay.after surching in the web for my problem i see this video .and its works .thank you so much.
Glad it helped and that this video did the trick for you!.
This totally worked. Thanks so much. ‘07 Challenger SRT8. I actually did have a broken clock spring (plastic ring that engages the column had broken off and also took out the turn signal mechanism where it wouldn’t turn off automatically after completing a turn). I replaced both the turn signal module and clock spring. Did the SAS as well since I was there but come to find out, the old SAS was good. But when I put everything back together, and did the turning the wheel to calibrate it, the light would go off after driving, only to come back after a slight turn to the left. It was driving me insane. Then ran into your video, just did this and light is gone 🤞🏻. It seems the whole SAS/Clockspring unit need to be forward (towards you) all the way before tightening the sleeve that holds it to the steering column for it to work as it should 🤷🏻♂️. Also though a T30 works, the actual screw at least in my case is a metric 4 Allen (I did have this apart that’s how I know). Thanks again. 👏🏻
Thanks, great info and for detailing your troubleshooting!!!
👍👍👍
Very vauluable knowledge for others!
This worked for me, really helps with a computer that you can read the live data from the steering angle aswell to make sure it’s at 0 degrees.
Interesting...nice input!
Thanks in advance. I will try this tomorrow. I have been dealing with this issue for about a month now. Also I think both lights together = limp mode, so I gotta get that fixed. Thanks again.
Thanks and If you can confirm with a scan tool what the codes are to narrow down the problem. These lights could mean all kinds of crazy codes.
I had a mechanic try to read the codes today, they don’t bring in a check engine light, so my $50.00 scanner won’t see anything. Well I’m sure his is 100x better but all he could was pull up history on his scanner. I don’t think he tried hard enough for free lol.
Just tried it today and it worked!!!! We'll see how long it lasts
The sensor can be reset after you unhook the battery for 30 mins then reconnect and drive it for 5 mins. I had this same issue on my Chrysler 200. Never had to replace any of the items that is talked about in the video
Didn't work for me on my dodge nitro 2008
Thanks the the great info i was dreading tearing into my steering column and will try this on my 07 dodge plum crazy and hope for the best !!!
Great! Let us know if it works for you and saves you time.
I have a 2010 charger and the turn to the left twice n turn to the right twice then back to the middle worked for me, thank u so much
Glad it helped. BTW this would also be good to do after your battery is replaced.
This method really fix that for my old car. Thank you.
Glad it helped
Thanks for the . video just happen to me recently. But the lights finally when off
Right on... I had to do it twice but it worked for my 2009 charger thanks alot big guy...👍🏻
GREAT! I've heard sometime you got to fumble with it to get it nice and tight.
Does it come back on after cutting the car off then cranking it back up?
nope
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼🔥🔥🔥🔥 def works, no light, and super smooth turning, preciate the video👍👍👍
Worked great even without using the screw driver for my 2010 Chrysler 300 code c2204
Thank you buddy works perfect for me no more light on
Thanks it worked and I didn’t have to buy the screwdriver.
What did you use in place of the screwdriver?
It worked, I’ve had this light on for almost a year and just saw this video, thank you for the info!
Glad it helped. I too know this is a big sense of relief. Hopefully you didn't spend any 💰 .
@@FixCarYourself no, I do research before I buy thankfully, call it cheap but to me it’s better than spending $60 up on a new sensor

Glad you enjoyed it
Should I do this before or after an alignment because my steering wheel isn’t straight when the wheels are
It doesn't matter.
Jajaja gonna try it , cuz my mechanic is charging me 300 to replace it when the piece costed me 50 bucks 😂
Wow...robbery at its finest.
@FixCarYourself yesh just changed the throttle body and boom all gud , 🤣🤣 but gud video bro yu gave me confidence 🤙🏻
@FixCarYourself you think if i change the computer cuz my code says steering angle sensor not initialized? I mean got the throttle body code out but the yellow one 🙅♂️ nope
Worked like a charm! Tyvm!
Thanks man. Seems to have worked just doing the wheel turn.
My 2006 jeep commander 5.7 randomly shutdown while driving after that ESP, BAS, and traction light came one. What can I check in order to fix it?
Hook up a code reader 1st to see the troubleshooting codes, this will help you narrow down the issue.
@@FixCarYourself I already did and it came out P0882 tcm power input signal low, P0846 transmission fluid pressure sensor B, C, D, E P0871, P0076, P0988
The last codes are the other sensor from transmission fluid.
@@oscargonzalez6195 Hard to say, that's a lot of codes, so not fully sure, but it sounds like the transmission valve body and/or solenoids need to be replaced, as well as new transmission oil.
@@FixCarYourself Oh ok I'm going to take to the mechanic this saturday, thank you so much for your time.
Could you please help. Just to clarify is it 2 right 2 left center or 2 left 2 right center. Thank you.
2 left (Counter clockwise) then 2 Right (Clockwise) and then put it back to the center.

Hopefully you didn't waste that much time or money. Regardless, now its time to move on in a good way!
Trying on my 2010 Dodge Challenger se tomorrow morning ,I’ll give y’all back some feedback ,I’ve heard that it can be exhaust pipe since my challenger is straight pipes but I will find out for yall tomorrow thank you !!
Never mind just tried it and the esp bas did go off ,it’s night time now ,did a quick drive around and drove around kinda aggressive to see if a bump or anything like that will trigger it back on but it didn’t ,I’m gonna take a hour ride tomorrow morning and I’ll give y’all feedback from there !
Cool!
Not sure how this would have to do something with exhaust pipes. But you never know with these kind of cars. keep us posted!

I have a 2008 dodge grand caravan and the turning of the steering wheel calibration worked
Cool thanks for letting us all know. I figured this situation would apply to many other Dodge, Chrysler, and maybe even Jeep vehicles.
My ESP and Bas comes on but only when I'm at a fast food restaurant idling in the car's been sitting for awhile, I just turn the car off and turn it back on and it goes away it rarely comes only when I'm standing still
I have a 2007 Chrysler 300c 5.7 I have 2 abs codes stored that I can’t figure what to do.
C121A
C2206
And is it safe to drive ?
Try this quick procedure. I drove for I think a few months with this code on, and I don't believe I had any problems. Let us know if this worked for you.
Do this work for the 2013 Chrysler c 5.7L as well?
Others have said so. But let us know if your results are the same.
I have the dodge charger with the same issue,Is this gonna work for that?
It should if you have the same codes and problem. Lot of other people in the comments have said it worked for them.
Let me know if it works for you.
@@FixCarYourself sure
Will this work on my 2010 charger
Yep it should.
Will this work for a Dodge Ram 1500
My guess is it will becuase Dodge and Chryser share similiar parts. Not much to lose just need a torx screwdriver. Let us know if this fixes your vehicle.
Interesting 🤔,, good to know,, thank you,,
What about on a dodge nitro. The only light thats on is my esp bas light
Give it a try, and let us know. I wouldn't be surprised if it also worked on the Nitro. Lot of components are shared between Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep.
I tried this on my 2010 challenger SE and it didn’t work. I unscrewed it 5-6 times then went up top to move it out like you did and you can’t with the steering wheel locked so I unlocked it moved it out (the steering wheel more towards me) and then screwed it back tighter and didn’t work. Am I doing this right? I couldn’t see clearly what you were holding in the video with your left hand while you were turning it
In other words when the steering wheel is locked you can’t pull it out so I unlocked steering wheel to pull it out and tightened it didn’t work
I believe my steering wheel was locked when I did this, meaning the key is in the off position or not plugged in. Also this Chrysler 300 has a tilt steering which allows me to move it up and down in this case without any key being plugged in. Anyway to help troubleshoot, my left hand is firmly grabbing the piece (of which has no name) and it kinda looks like its sliding towards me. Once I bring it towards me, I then tightened the screw on the bottom while still holding that piece with my left hand. Also make sure you check your code reader to determine the problem, as for me anyway this procedure applies to the codes mentioned: C121A and C2205.
@@FixCarYourself Thank you for your reply! It ended up being a wheel speed sensor I appreciate your help though!
@@jasoncasillas8688 Cool!
BTW which wheel speed sensor? I have a different video you can watch...as sometimes the problem isn't the speed sensor but is actually a bad CV joint tone ring. If you already completed the job let me know otherwise if you need any other suggestions I'll try to help.

But glad this helped!
@@FixCarYourself Thanks man! It was the left rear.
Well on my 07 Chrysler 300 I get the traction control light and esp/bas light on every so often and now my turn signal won't cancel which I am sure the clock spring done
Ok, so did you try this procedure? Also check the fuses/relays for the wiper switch.
@@FixCarYourself I am going to replace both clock spring and turn signal multi function switch I am sure they are broken inside
Did you replace it or try this procedure first?
Just performed this on my 09 Durango it works wtf I was quoted 300$ for parts and labor on new clock spring
Wow. Glad u saved money and time. Thats what its all about!
@ 4:15sec When you say push forward. Are you pushing to the front of the car or rear of car. It looks like you are pulling to the rear?
Bring the piece towards you to lock it in place. Aka going towards the rear of the car.
Is this permanent fix or temporary till you get the steering angle fix cause I have 3 lights on abs esp and traction light on will this fix my problem?
Permanent. Over 4 years later and the lights haven't come back on.
@@FixCarYourself I have the same 3 lights on, sometimes they turn on and sometimes they turn off. My jeep has been checked and the mechanic says it’s just an electronic issue and that it shouldn’t cause any problems but I just feel very anxious having these lights. If I try this and they go away forever, does that mean that there’s no problem? Sorry if it doesn’t make sense I really don’t know anything about cars :(

The major problem is that whenever the red round light probably, the security and battery light remains ON, the car won't start at all. However, even if it does start by chance, the car would definitely stall immediately.
On the otherhand , if the red perhaps security light blinks and battery light goes off, it will have only hard starting but would definitely start. Firstly, how can I fix the security issue? The client said: "he doesn't want anything security in the car anymore." How should I proceed to disable that security completely? Same problem on my 06 300 bas light, reaction control light, and ABS light on 🤷 any ideas ? I do have a code it's c123f
I've got the same lights but no engine codes. Could that be something different?
What if the screw is missing? Imma check the fuse first....
That doesn't sound too good. Their should be a screw there.
So I have a 06 charger with this issue I’m about to order a clock spring because my horn, signals, wipers or Cruise control will not work along with these lights on do you know if the clock spring is the cause of this ?
Its possible. If you could check a code reader that would help confirm the issue or at least narrow down the problem. Also before ordering it see 1st if this less than 10 min fix resolves your issue. I would rather you try this first and save money before making a purchase.
Does this problem cause the car to shake or jerk right before the light code comes on? That’s the problem I’m having

It's hard to tell - are you pulling or pushing the steering column? It looks like you're pulling toward your chest.
Yep that's right, pull it towards you....To further explain: what happened with these vehicles is it got loose over time and was moved back or away from the steering column. @@kb._4 A video won't help me yet. Its the codes that are necessary to drill down the problem first. But Yes go to those stores and get the code or codes. However, you really should buy a code reader, which is a good investment. Also, you'll need a code reader sooner than later to clear any codes that were previously stored on the car if any. Something they might not do for free.
did your cruise control work whilebthe lights were on?
Not sure I never use cruise control
no it doesnt let u use it
The ESP/BAS light being on won't prevent you from using Cruise Control on its own, however, both the Steering Angle Sensor and the Cruise Control Switch plug directly into the Steering Column Control Module. So if there is a problem with the SCCM, it could theoretically cause both your ESP/BAS light to come on and Cruise Control to not work, but the ESP/BAS light being on is not the direct cause of the lack of Cruise Control on its own. Not sure if this fix would work for an SCCM issue.
My 08 Daytona has the Brake, car with swerve, and esp lights come on. But they arent always on. At a loss. Like mine wouldn't be on when I start the car like youra
Same here did you figure it out?
@@markgil9249 it honestly took care of itself. I will have to think a bit and get back to you. But I recall starting the car. Turning traction control off, on and then going on a short drive and it never came back. The problem originally started after I turned traction control off for a second. Then the next time I got in the car the lights started
What is the cause of this i changed my tie rods yesterday in my 300 and I definitely need an alignment but these two lights came on

Did you ever figure out the problem?
This is really frustrating, i took my car to the mechanic and he told me it was the cam and crank sensors that were going bad i replaced them and nothing. And NO i didn't figure it out 🤬
Will this work for Dodge caliber 2009
It should. Let us know if it worked for u. Its quick and easy.
The reset prob cleared it not adjusting the cover ( resetting the steering angle sensor turn key on and rotate wheel full left full right then center and drive the car)
you could just reset it with a code reader scanner. But i tried it and the codes came back on pretty fast. In general turning the wheel left to right back in center, may work. In my case I had to unscrew and then tighten the screw to fix the problem.
Works on chrysler town country??

will your car pass emissions with this stuck on
Can you do it on a aspen
Chrysler shares lots of similar parts so it may work. Give it a try not much to lose. its just unscrewing a screw and then re-tightening it. The screwdriver is cheap. Please let us know if it worked for you.
Does this work on a 2008 Charger
It should. Tell us if it worked for you.
Zostamax
Did it work
didn't work for me were to go from here wen I turn my turn signals dnt turn off
I'm not sure what you mean. This shouldn't effect turn signals. Also use a code reader to verify the codes.
Issue is back and back what I should to do ?
If you loosened the screw a few times and pushed the cover towards you hard and then re tightened it while holding it then turned the wheel 2 times to the right and then the left and it still doesn't work after driving it for a little bit then a SAS may actually need to be replaced. Usually its becomes misaligned as a result of going over bumps over the years.
Thank's a lot buddy

Ok just trying to make sure I understand, but if you physically looked at the SAS piece, then that means the screw was taken off and other parts and later you screwed the screw back in. In other words before you do anything to even get to the SAS just unscrew and then reinsert the screw which is the purpose of this video.
However, if you are referring to just resetting the SAS system with a code reader without taking anything off. Please let me know.
By unscrewing the screw and then rescrewing it, the code went away and I didn't have to use a code reader to reset anything.
Please let me know if you just use the code reader reset function for the Steering Angle Sensor.
HIGH GUY I DID NOT TAKE ANYTHING APART. AFTER A FEW CYCLES OF DRIVING AND 100-150 MILES,IT CLEARED ITSELF IT RESETS ITS SELF. FOXWELL NT650 SELLS ON EBAY $109 IT HAS STEERING ANGLE SENSOR RESET ON IT JUST FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. IF YOU BRING TO DEALER HE WANTS TO KEEP YOUR CAR FOR DAYS,HE DRIVES IT AROUND TO SEE IF IT CLEARS, IF IT DOES THATS NOT WHAT HE TELLS YOU. IF U BRING TO A SERVICE STATION IT WILL COST U ABOUT $79. SO FOR THE $109 ITS WORTH IT PLUS IT DOES OTHER THINGS. IT IS NOT BURNT OUT THE LIGHTS STILL SHOW WHEN I START CAR. IF IT DOESNT CLEAR ITSELF THEN RESET THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR,THEN IF THAT FAILS REPLACE SENSOR.REMEMBER MY ABS LIGHT DID NOT COME ON ONLY THE ESP,BAS, WAS ON. I WONDER IF SOME OF THE PEOPLE POSTING WRONG INFO WORK FOR THE DEALERSHIPS. IT TOOK ALOT TO FIND OUT THAT THEY RESET THEMSELFS.
@@evelynlopez669 I tried the sas reset on my code reader, and it worked for a little bit, but then the code would come back on after a few hundred miles. Which is why I would then take out the screw and retighten it as shown in the video.
But maybe this will work for others and actually this should be tried first regardless: resetting the sas with a code reader. Sounds good and is less work to do. Hopefully this works for more people long term.
So what exactly are you doing here? I can replicate that but what are we fixing here?
The troubleshooting code.
@@FixCarYourself I know it's about that code. But what exactly do you do with screwdriver- you loose the screw and tight it again, you press/ move plastic cover. What is this screw for? Why do you move the cover and why did it stop the error code?
@@demodemo1177 it holds in the steering angle clockspring
@@demodemo1177 it removes the code i guess because over time the screw and part inside gets loose. Its just one of those defects chrysler dodge jeep have. This should be a recall IMO.
I replace my clock spring in my 2006 magnum but light is still on I did the process need help anyone got any info on it
Im probably too late to help you but the ABS, ESP/BAS malfunction indicator and also the ESP/TCS indicator just came on in my 2008 Magnum SXT.. According to my owners manual, sometimes turning the steering wheel full left and right turns the lights off, but that did not work. Manual then says these faults could be due to a faulty wheel speed sensor. Ill have to go to my mechanic since I don't have a diagnostic tool/scanner, but hurricane florence is coming so he's hammered with too many cars and so l have to wait to go next week, assuming we have power in the area. If thats the answer Ill add to this post. If YOU did get a solution please let me know! Thanks.
