    The Tesla Cybertruck is an all-electric pickup truck designed and manufactured by Tesla led by CEO Elon Musk. Unveiled in November 2019, the Cybertruck garnered immense attention due to its unconventional, angular design and claimed robustness. Here are some key features and aspects of the Tesla Cybertruck:
    Design:
    The Cybertruck stands out with its futuristic, geometric design that looks unlike traditional pickup trucks. Its angular, stainless steel exoskeleton gives it a distinctive appearance, resembling something out of a science fiction movie. The truck's body is made from a cold-rolled stainless-steel alloy, providing durability and strength.
    Performance:
    Tesla has announced multiple versions of the Cybertruck with varying performance specifications. The Cyberbeast tri-motoer model is said to have remarkable acceleration, reaching 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds. It was expected to have a range of over 500 miles on a single charge but all of the current models have under 500 miles as of 2023.
    Capability:
    The Cybertruck is marketed as a robust and utilitarian vehicle. Its payload capacity ranges from 3,500 to 6,500 pounds, and it has a towing capacity of over 14,000 pounds, making it suitable for towing trailers and carrying heavy loads.
    Technology:
    As with other Tesla vehicles, the Cybertruck is expected to feature advanced technology, including Autopilot capabilities for autonomous driving, over-the-air software updates, and a large touchscreen interface for vehicle control and entertainment.
    Adaptive Air Suspension:
    The truck comes equipped with an adaptive air suspension system that adjusts the ride height dynamically based on the terrain and driving conditions. This allows for improved off-road capability and a smoother ride on various surfaces.
    Controversies and Challenges:
    The Cybertruck's radical design polarized opinions, with some loving its unique appearance and others finding it too unconventional for a pickup truck. During its unveiling, a live demonstration of its supposedly shatterproof windows failed, which attracted criticism and became a widely discussed moment.
    Production and delivery of the Cybertruck faced delays, primarily due to the challenges in manufacturing, supply chain issues, and the complexities associated with its unique design and materials.
    Despite these challenges, the Tesla Cybertruck generated immense interest and pre-orders, showcasing a growing demand for electric vehicles in the pickup truck market and challenging the conventions of automotive design and technology.

    I understand that Tesla wants to minimize price, but I wish that they would've kept the lightbar, air compressor, and tailgate ramp as standard options. It would put the truck ahead of it's competitors.

      Seems like even Tesla is like other auto manufacturers when they initially introduce a vehicle to the masses with impressive numbers and features but then the product we end up with comes with very little of them. Yeah, the Cybertruck is cool and all but I'm disappointed, especially about the reduced range.

  • @ZipZoomZip

    I'm a first day Cybertruck reservationist and I think the truck Tesla has released is far better than what I was expecting. I was planning on getting the dual motor so 340 miles of range is more range than I was expecting and the steer by wire with four-wheel steering is a game-changer in terms of making a big truck maneuver through tight spaces effortlessly and for stability when changing lanes on the highway. Also, judging by early driver reviews, the calm, serene nature of the cabin, with minimal road and wind noise is a pleasant surprise. Apparently, it can hit bumps and pavement seams without transmitting the sounds right into the cabin (that was my biggest concern with such a rigid chassis).
    No other truck has a chassis this strong, this rigid, so handling has crispness and responsiveness on bumpy roads that is unmatched by the flexy ladder frames of traditional trucks. This is a game-changer for people like me who need a truck but hate the poor handling that every other truck has. Finally, the fully adjustable ride height with active damping on both the compression and rebound circuits adds comfort, performance and versatility that no other truck can match, not even the Rivian. And the range of the height adjustable suspension is massive! This is the vehicle I've always wanted.
    Sure, the price is quite a bit more than I was expecting, but I never saw how they were going to hit the announced prices in a truck with this much cool shit, including the tough body that resists dents, scratches and chipping like no other. And the toughened Gorilla glass that should make trips to the auto glass shop a thing of the past. I think the release version of the Cybertruck is worth every dollar, and then some!

      Yes they did demonstrate the glass they use. Wouldn't call it armor glass though, basically tempered glass like on all cars. For the demonstration this time they only used a baseball and lightly tossed it at the side glass. And like most other cars having something lightly tossed at it, the glass didn't break... wow! way to dumb down the demo from last time. Back on the initial release they were promising some sort of ultra strong glass that could withstand having a solid steel ball tossed at it. This major down grade ranks up there with the range let down.

    Why do they have the need to make these big promises only to miss them so hard with 4 years of development? Other brands just meet promises or show a product when it's real. A lot of the claims were based on having control of their own battery production...AGAIN but that's the most failed part. The battery now goes in the bed and misses the target by a lot still. They even had a battery day to hype those batteries, which barely move the needle on progress.

    It seems they could not match the Rivian, except that the door on the bed actually works on the Cybertruck, not only that but supports weight. They could have gone with a 200K battery like the Hummer, it will be less agile, but the range will be there. From the experiences of TFLC the Hummer is the only electric pickup that can actually tow, which means that the Cybertruck can't. This was such a bad idea. Tesla should have gone for a more conventional 4x4 adventure vehicle (not a Pickup) with physical buttons to control virtual lockers. They would have sold so many of them before the space became crowded.

    Everyone expected a price increase, but this large of a price increase was definitely not expected. Well beyond what inflation would account for, and what happened to the CT technology being so advance that it would result in a more cost effective build and less expensive price? Elon did not deliver on alot of what was promised. If you factor in the range extender price, it's an even more insane price hike to still not reach the original range estimate. Also, compare the prices of every other Tesla model from 2019 to 2023. Most are the same if not CHEAPER than they were in 2019. I think this is simply Tesla taking advantage of the high demand and price gouging people because they know they can. I'm an early reservation holder that currently owns a quad-motor R1T that I was able to get at the pre-price hike price (~73K) so I'd need to go with the Cyberbeast at 100K for a comparably specced truck. I'd be downgrading if I went with the AWD version.

    Which is of the many hyperbole promises was kept apart from the looks?

  • @yanks7533
    @yanks7533 6 місяців тому +2

    I actually think the range is fine. Remember they promised 300 miles...with a 500 mile version. So standard range is higher than the initial standard range. I don't think that's a negative more so a positive. The thing i'm more concerned about is 136 miles in 15 minutes. The new architecture as supposed to mean quicker charging, I know this in part has to do with the act the battery is like 200kwh vs a model s battery. Also i think there should be a road version, with smaller lighter tires and an offroad version. Those wheels and tires do not help with MPG at all, they're super heavy.
    The negative is that the range extender sits in the bed, as most people don't use their beds that's fine. However why did they not utilize the compartment under the rear of the bed for the range extender? That was a design miss, i would have taken a smaller extender for full bed space. Also they could have fit a spare under the bed, the battery seems to only be under the cabin, which in itself is a design miss, a bigger battery extending into the bed makes sense to me...if not put a spare there or offer run flats.
    I'll say this about range, I think Tesla and Elon's stubbornness is hurting range. The 4680 battery is a failure so far. Other companies are getting more density...which is sad because of how far in front tesla was. I'd still take a model y's range over the 200 miles on like every other entry level suv though...but i expected more into the high 400's 6-7 years later.

    • @Cloxxki
      @Cloxxki 6 місяців тому

      300 miles was for the rear wheel drive model, which is then a silly purchase. Why an off-road truck and then skip the front axle drive? I know cheap $30K RWD truck sell like crazy, but Tesla's is $61K and 2025 the soonest.
      Only 64% of the claimed range on the big one. The fix sits in the bed and still comes short 12% while taking up 33% of the bed space. No spare wheels. You better be towing something and have a space on there.

    • @Cloxxki
      @Cloxxki 6 місяців тому +1

      Perhaps the thing is hideously inefficient and the range extender ends up making it 200+ kWh. Or, the range extender only takes slow charging, meaning that when towing you get the range boost (to maybe 220 real miles) ONCE.
      Of course they wouldn't be Tesla if they didn't change metrics from the norm. From the 10-80% charge time, they come with a seemingly reasonable charge in a fixed amount of time. 136 is 40% of 340mi. It's just a complicated way of saying it doesn't do any special charging. Which of course the battery day implied. All about the battery. And now that's falling short by a lot. And the price is way higher despite the biggest bestest cheapest battery being there only 64% of the way. If they hadn't done the hype thing and just built THIS, it would be meh and ugly. Now the ugliness (I like it actually) just doesn't have a flip side to it, a fraction of prospective buyers can afford it still and we're her with all those promises they didn't deliver on. Why is that OK from a trillion dollar market cap company, again? They took reservations the first of any notable brand, and are now large to market, with a deeply disappointing product that misses all marks but the screen is bigger y'all. No stalk to safely indicate a turn, though. Cost savoings you know.

    Price is way too expensive and specs aren't good enough. Who is the target market for this? Tradtional truck drivers won't buy it, and the tech boys would rather play a game instead going and exploring the wilderness. I doubt Tesla will ever make a profit off it. I thought it was hilrious that they threw a baseball like a granny... What happened to the metal ball? obviously it would have shattered. Rear seats are impracticable for tall people.... BYD is about to release a truck that will be signgicanlty cheaper than this... I don't see how Tesla can compete with BYD. The specs for the lower end models are estimations only...

      I agree but I am glad Tesla is taking a risk with CT. None of the others will do something like this.

    64% of the promised range at +43% price adjustment. Less cargo capacity (!!!) and the extra battery that still falls short goes in the bed. I you'll comments of investors who are still positive. Even the superfans that traveled long distances to be at the event and take half a week out of their life to see it first...were low energy. Most hated the looks from the beginning, wanted it only for being a Tesla with better range and better price. Now it's just the ugly new Tesla that has little going for it vs a Ford or Rivian. Not even the exoskeleton construction which was the "clever" thing about it held up. And somehow the other brands that didn't hyperbole 4+ years in advance...beat them to market!

    Andy - If you ordered the cybertruck on day one at the event then you'ld be daft not to buy one - you could review it then sell it for a $10k at least profit. Sandy Munro would give you a good profit on it!

    Which other brand will throw such a party for a vehicle that misses its own promises by such a margin? Why even make such hyperbole promises? The 500 mile version doesn't exist and the 440 mile one is 50K more with less cargo capacity and no longer is an exoskeleton construction which was the whole point to begin with!

    Speak for yourself sir. Plenty of ppl will be able to afford the truck and over time the price will get more affordable. The truck is nothing like else out there and commands a premium price for the specs alone.

    I was very disappointed in the price jump as Elon promised a affordable truck and it’s definitely out of the price range of middle class workers

    I am cheap. The original base price of $39990 was what made me put my $100 down. The cost saving of the so called exoskelitin don't seem to have arrived. Had Tesla been able to pull this off, there would be no need for a "Model 2" $25K car. Tesla woud not have the production capasity to keep up. Unanswered questions: Compressor standard? Outlets standard? Basic tow package price? The ramp tailgate? Not of interest to me: Speed, Range (5 year Model 3 owner) 250 miles more then enough, 4 wheel turning...meh. If in 2025 the single motor is closer to $50K I'm in.

    I'm not happy about the price increases. And I'm very disappointed in the reduction of range, it's way less than Elon popped off about years ago. You just won't be able to tow very far at all and that will be a huge pass for many people. And I'm really unhappy about them charging us extra to get the range they initially promised. Elon's promises are getting old and I've stopped believing anything he says anymore. I'll be cancelling my reservation.

    The current state of battery chemistry is lesser than expected four years ago. And the development went more in the direction of lowering prices, than increasing density. See all the LFP cells, and even 4680 are optimized for mass production, not performance. So, expecting 500 miles truck now is silly. Tesla, or anybody else just don't have Alien tech, just Human.
    Sure, one can still build 500 miles truck with the current cell tech - it would cost a ton more, and would weight 2 tons more.
