As a person who just started sailing a few years ago. Best advice, get out a lot. A Sunfish, the RS, a 22 foot it does not matter you are learning. Find something you can get out on often and go. Having kids in the sailing program is really wonderful as they tend to gain confidence which flows over into their school work. At the club I am always amazed the kids who only have sailed Opti's jump on a sunfish or a 16' sailboat and are off sailing like it is nothing. Well that is if it is not too windy, you do need enough weight for to counter the wind on the sail. :)
Thanks, yes I totally agree. I love when the kids try something new and pick it up. Kids have no fear either do they! Thanks for your message and watching our videos , Catherine
I did not have the benefit of a teacher . When I returned from Vietnam, and after surgery to repair my right foot, I was told to get exercise to help the surgery heal, so I walked over to American Lake near Fort Lewis where they had some dinghys with sails. The worst problem I encountered was the wind dropping so I had to row back in LOL. I hope you get to love sailing.
oh no, well that was the doctors orders right, to excerise, rowing in wouldve definately been some work!! We are enjoying the sailing, hope your foots doing well and youve had another change to get out on the sailing dingys. Thanks for watching, Catherine
What an awesome adventure with the family.

looks like a lot more work than I envisaged - good on you both!
It really is!

Agree, although this was a fun lesson in learning how to sail. Understanding the wind etc. Thanks for watching
