- In this clip we take a look at Jim Colligan's 1982 DR500 Suzuki. Of course these DR Suzuki's were basically road going machines that you could take off-road from time to time although the electric pack on this bike has been removed for full-time motocross use.

My dad gave me an 82 dr500 in 1985 , I was 14 at the time. Rode it for everything it was worth. Loved the bike. We would pack it in the back of a jeep cj7 , front wheel right between the seats and the back wheel would sit right on the end of the tailgate..throw the soft top on toss weeks worth of camp gear in and 2 small dogs , and head to the Sierra Nevada mountains. Those were some of the best memories of my childhood...
As proud owner of xt550 yamaha 1982 model I feel you. Had it for 13 years.
In US SP was dual purpose and DR was dirt four strokes. Had both. These engines had the best head in the day and a bullet proof bottom end. Huge HP was to be had.
Yeah i had one of those bought used i went from a old 250.. to that dr500 thumper and realized what i liked instantly! Such a awesome experience
Great !!! And the sound... Whaaaa!!! Very good silencer job !!! And it's seems easy to start😄

You know what? I' m 60 , former motocrosser, no bike until a month ago. Just before being confined, I bought a 1989 600 DR Suzuki
For fun and to want to see how a big 4 timer works (with low price😄) and...... I can't try it !!!!😄😄😄
So when I saw your last video with the 500 DR , I began to think about some transformations
Nice to share with you and your so good videos!!
See you later , Scottish friend!!

Hey buddy I have a quick question, my first bike was an 80s Yamaha dt100 but it was a 4 stroke I've been looking for one for years all I can find on UA-cam on the dt100 they are all 2 strokes did I have a special model or something? Im sorry I don't know the exact year it was a late 80s model that Yamaha silver . Do you know anything about this? Thank you 👍
Hi John sounds like a very unusual bike . . most of the DT's I knew of were all two-strokes . Are you sure it was not just a DT frame with maybe a little Honda fourstroke motor in it. If you had any pictures of the bike that might help.
@@monticlassictv it was the classic silver Yamaha dt 100 and the motor had Yamaha stamped on it. I'm looking for pictures tonight I hope I have one it was 20 years ago but I cannot find one video on it in UA-cam. It was the most reliable little bike I ever had . I wanted to get one for my daughter but I can't find any trace of one. Thanks for your reply though 👍
Dt were two-stroke xt were four-stroke so probably you mean xt125. The firs
Hello.
Very nice bike! I am building DR500 82" for clasic enduro races. I have question about front fork: what model of motorbike it was?
regards
Jerry
Dodgy gearbox dog. It doesn't last that well in the DR400 [same part] The USA DR 500 actually had an ally swing arm. The steel item is the same as the DR400's The Euro badged DR500 was identical to the USA SP500
