If Van Dijk was on form this season Liverpool would have won atleast 2 or 3 trophies. The club with the best defence and least goal conceed is Arsenal and you will see easily who was at the back line. The nominees are not about the previous seasons but about this season

I think VVD was the great defender around, for 2 and half years. His achieve this season is 8 clean sheets in 34 app’s. Try’s to defend with his 2019 aura and the leagues players have got better the last 5 years and figured him out.

Murilo at Forest should be on the young players nominees list. Been outstanding in a terrible team and his stats back that up, as do the transfer links to Real, Barca, PSG, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle.

The usual ridiculous comment from the delusional victim playing Liverpool supporter. The fact that he is genuinely in a defensive 4 of TAA Robinson Gomez konate and the fact that Liverpool have 3 out of them in most games and they have been subbed on in the games that they aren’t injured for. They haven’t suffered anywhere near the injury problems that the likes of United Newcastle Chelsea and Tottenham have been having for literally the whole season. The claim that he has the best defensive stats in Europe is laughable when you compare him to the centre backs of Manchester City Arsenal and even silva at 39 and playing in a different defensive unit in nearly every game has better stats in defence and attacking. VVD somehow has no defensive errors leading to goals that’s a joke seeing how he was at fault for 2 goals against Arsenal and Bournemouth. He’s also got favourable decisions from VAR which he has got away with blatant penalties 2 against Chelsea 1 against Brighton and Crystal Palace. The only thing he has better stats in is aerial battles won which he is not likely to lose that many seeing as the majority of teams that are not playing target men and he is genuinely head and shoulders above the strikers and the fact he has struggled against the likes of Giroud should prove how overrated he is. He has been consistently caught out with the amount of one on ones that has been saved by both goalkeepers this season and even the worst teams in the league has been able to get in behind him a number of times Burnley Nottingham Forest Luton Brighton Everton and Bournemouth. Chelsea in the cup final and he was absolutely ruined by Arsenal. How can he be on a list for player of the year when you think about the players who have made a difference in team and with better defensive numbers than him. The reality comes to the amount of delusional fans who think he’s the best defender in premier league history when he doesn’t even get in the top 20 list of players who played in a much harder era against some of the best attackers in the leagues history that would’ve definitely dominated him.
