Visitor Visa Requirements
*$160 crisp US dollars or Bolivianos
*2 copies of your passport information page
*2 passport photos
*Evidence of a hotel reservation
*Itinerary of your plans in Bolivia
*Exit ticket out of Bolivia such as a return flight or bus ticket out of the country
*Copy of bank statement
*Special immigration form
*6 month validity remaining on passport
*International Certificate of Yellow Fever Vaccination
With the visitor visa you are allowed 30 days per trip and can not exceed 90 days per year.

We went ahead and got our Visa here in Houston, Tx before traveling to Bolivia. It really gives me piece of mind knowing we have it just in case we forget a document!
and yes, they will want a bank or credit card statement with your name on it!
Smart move! Yeah it's definitely better to get the visa in your home country before hand.

Great information. How much time did it take to get acclimated to the high altitude?
I didn't notice any attitude sickness when I visited La Paz. I had came from Cusco so I was well adjusted. In Cusco it took about a 3 days.
