    In addition to rewinding the video you can also slow the video down to as low as quarter speed without changing the pitch. Click the gear on the bottom right. Then click speed.

    I'm appreciating all of these that rely on ear since I still cannot read music...! Your instructions are clear and I always just rewind, as expected, if I need to review it again.

    Thank you so much for this. I just started playing the cello 3 days ago (aged 36!) and this is the first piece I've played. I transposed it up a 5th though as my sound on the C string is ick. So excited to try your other tutorials. Love your playing and you are a great teacher! Thank you xx

    Thanks! This is one of the songs my daughter has been wanting me to play. She's obsessed with Disney Princesses right now. By the way you mentioned the area you were playing was pretty warm causing your Cello to try and go flat? Ive notice the dark rosin I purchased last November has been problematic. Could it be the heat? Should I switch to light rosin for warmer months?

    My cello always wants to go flat. So flat the string loses its tension entirely lol. I don't know whether it's because it's a build-your-own kind of beginner cello, but I've more or less replaced the pegs with sticks of resin with how much I've put on, and it still entirely detuned itself every half hour or so

    Hey! I love your videos and have a tutorial idea: Picking up another string instrument. I am a violinist who is looking to pick up the cello while still being a violinist. I notice you have a double bass in the background and you have played a violin in past videos. I would really love if you make a video or even just respond to my comment. Also your videos really help me be calm and also inspire me to play with more feeling. Thank you so much! :)

    This video made me happy and then very sad. I'm new to cello about only two months. This is the first time I've seen this piece in first position ( I don't know any other positions yet) after watching once I thought I could do it. Then I thought ok I'm going to write it down as you go through it, however you kept mixing up your notation explanations i.e. G3, G4 sometimes and then B, C other times. I was completely lost as sometimes as you were just renaming the notes you just described in another way and sometimes adding new notes to the phrase. Then in some phrases you said this is just like the beginning except blah blah, then you play it without any reference to notation at all. Can you or someone else tell me where I can find the sheet music for this that only uses first position? I know the point of your video was to learn by ear, and that may work for me in a year or two, but now I'm just sad 😥
    Update: 3 weeks later, I couldn't leave this one alone I really wanted to learn it. So I came back and watched slowly repeating each section over and over until I had it. Thank you so much Sarah I've got it now... well sort of. Now I'll just need to practice it a few hundred times. :) I think I'm glad I had to work for it, I think I learned more by having to struggle through.

    Cool, the tab version of teaching. I think I'll stick around and learn something. - Thanks.
    For record. Your third finger position is the E, which is the 4th semitone of the C string, so.... you have tape on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th semitones of the strings and skipped the C#? Or have I got that wrong?
    (Sorry I'm a guitarist; new to this blank fretboard thing)

    • @burninginhell9512
      @burninginhell9512 5 років тому

      Yes. When putting tape, you usually jump one tune/whole note for the first tape. Like, if you're marking the A string, you put your mark on the B note, not on the A#. I probably sound confusing af, but oh well lol

    It's somewhat confusing when you say which number finger on what string, I would rather you say the name of the note, ie E G B C F... instead of 3rd finger on C, open G, 3rd on G, 4th on G and 4th on C, etc.
