Drying rice in the square, I can understand, but in the main road, it is incredible; It's a blessing to have someone to travel with you everywhere, your popularity is really good! 在廣場曬米,我能理解,但在大馬路,真是匪夷所思; 有人帶著到處去旅行真是幸福,你的人緣真的很好唷!👍😃👏
Very natural videos dear Ken! I am sorry to hear the difficult economic situation passing of Sri Lanka due to shortage of Foreign reserve currency. I praying for Sri Lankans prosperity.
Ken, the ocean saltwater is pumped or sluiced into the drying beds. As the water evaporates the salt crystallizes and is collected for use/sale. No chemicals are needed or added to enhance the drying process as the sun does all of the work. Animals in the area (goats, cows, elephants, etc.) love salt and will find the drying beds and help themselves.
Wow Cool Vlog and respect for the two Lankans and their generosity 💙 4:17 :- In some parts of Middle east and some other countries both pray the Friday prayer(Jummah) in mosques separately..Even in Sri Lanka there are lots of mosques which offer prayers for both Women and Men..Jummah prayer is compulsory for men though..Even if the ladies don't go they can hear the sermons through Radio at the comfort in their homes though.. 6.02 : We call Banana in Tamil as Valappalam.. 8.10 : We call it Gem biscuits..I am 18 but still I buy them rarely 😋..Even Adults can consume no issues at all.. 8:43 : Mix with Betel leaves..Drivers usually consume so that they can chew them for long time and prevents fall of sleep 11:15 : Salt needs hot temp...We can see them in southern Sri Lanka as well like Hambanthota..Their is a process in it...I think it's not good to consume that salt without that process.. 13:24 : Interesting, didn't know it's prevailing even nowadays.. 14:33 : It's more like Mangoosteen..This is bit sweet and tasty though..That drink is yummy.. 16:00 In Western province like Colombo you can easily find supermarkets but in rural districts like these you can find them only in towns of those respective districts 17:18 Have never seen a donkey in Colombo..😣 Looking forward for more videos Ken 🇱🇰:)
Wow, l enjoyed this Jaffna road trip. It's great to be able to see some rural areas along the journey. A big shout out and thank you to Hachara and her hubby for the ride. Oh gosh, both of them must be foodies, going all the way to Jaffna just for food, truly incredible...👍👍👏 It's a privilege indeed to see the world thru' your eyes. Thank you so much, Ken. Looking forward to your Jaffna exploration.
Very interesting to see people drying rice along the road, salt farm and freshwater fishes hanging beside the road for sale. Looking forward to your coming video on Jaffna and other parts of Northern Sri Lanka.
Hi, I am very very related to this video. I was born in Galle and raised in Jaffna. Also I have relatives in Malaysia and Germany. I missed my wonderful place last 34 years and now living halfway around the world. Thank you for sharing your journey in my country. Eager for the rest of your videos. God bless all 🙏🥰
Wow...super cool, Ken. You have truly captured the essence of rural village vibes and also a great content creator. Thanks for this incredible video. Kudos, Ken 💪👍😀
In the areas where rice is cultivated, people use the road to dry the rice. Carpet Road is getting heated very fast and its easy and fast to dry the rice. Based on the content of water in the final rice product, farmers can get a good price. Water content of the rice determine how long the rice can be stored. Drying rice on road is happening only in rural parts of the country and there is no or less traffic in these areas and people are helping each other and no complaints.
Nice one Ken 👋🏻 thanks to your new subscriber Hacharra and husband for taking you around rural area , vsiting the fishermen seaside area and enjoying food/fruits by the roadsides , awesome Ken 👍🥰
Ken, this episode is really interesting. Huge thanks to Ms Hajara and husband for taking you too see this part of their country. May Allah reward them abundantly for their generosity. In Malay the areca nut is called "buah pinang", anoda (or soursop in English) is "durian belanda".
The only UA-cam producer to visit Jaffna. You will have a wonderful time and you will a diverse culture in everything, specially food. Sea food is a specialty.
Hello Ken... Drying Rice on the road is quite common and not only in Sri Lanka. I was in Myanmar (Burma) just before Covid and you could see this everywhere. No-one ever seems to get upset about it, it's just how things are done in Rural areas.
Amazing truely simple life presentation with most innocent, poor Srilanka people live in rural area. Feeling their happiness and self sufficiency, great work please keep presentation.
Freshly harvested rice is routinely dried on paved roads throughout Asia. It's been a common practice for many years. Recently the drying of rice on roadways was outlawed in Thailand as an obstruction of traffic. Violators are subject to hefty fines and or imprisonment.
The Srilankan Muslim guides are such beautiful people and show the hospitality of all Srilankans. I will now visit this beautiful country and its people ❤
Hi Ken, this year January i was in Jaffna, please try Faluda in Rio Ice cream shop. Very very good food there. You must go Trincomalee on the way back. Beautiful place.
Been a while since you made a roadtrip...Off the beaten path while going exploring with locals along the way. As always , stay safe out there, take care.
Tomorrow (Sunday) is the start of the fasting month of Ramadhan here in Malaysia and Indonesia. Though Sri Lanka is not Muslim dominant, I wonder if you can get a glimpse on how the Sri Lankan Muslim prepare for it, and if they also have Ramadhan bazaar similar like in Malaysia. 8:38 That is what we Malaysian called Buah Pinang. In English it's known as Areca nut. Some people would eat the seed inside with the betel leaf and some lime betel. Though in Malaysia mostly it's just the older generation would eat them. 14:25 In Malay it's called Durian Belanda. In English it's called Soursop.
i love this channel, every video is pure touring footage is raw every compliment is real and sincere unlike those other travel chanel saturated with annoying background music and repeatly give same fake delicious expression then pretend like food expert give some complicated compliment whenever shove any junk into their mouth just so generic.
No Chemicals are added to the Salterns in the process of making salt. The natural sea water is evaporated under the warm climates in shallow ponds to the point it is derived out of the saturated brine that helps natural salt to be harvested.
Betel is not eaten but chewed and spat out. It is chewed with arecanut , lime (from corals) snd tobacco that is habit forming and addictive. It is like smoking , discouraged by doctors as it causes oral and esophageal cancer.
They do that in some roads in Southeast Asia as well. You can drive over them. The problem is when they leave the filled sacks on the road. Almost hit some driving in northern Philippines.
Great video showing d less touristy spots and d people's normal daily lives and activities there that not many outside people might know .... Good job Ken .... So far this is d best video i have seen of Sri Lanka from u Ken but i am sure there would be more great videos coming up next .... Thumbs up to Ken .... 👍👍👍
Southern Srilanka reminds me of coastal Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra. Northern Srilanka is rather flat like the coastal plains of Tamil Nadu and Andhra.
Hi Ken.. I'm watching all your travel videos. They're really interesting. Good that you're exploring the northern parts of the island of Sri Lanka.. In the past the places you're now visiting were out of bounds to the public due to LTTE terrorism. Now there's a peaceful atmosphere to go anywhere in the North. Now that you're going to Jaffna via Mannar there are a few places worth having a visit in Mannar island. Check the Internet to locate them. Thereafter, you can go to Jaffna on the fully carpeted Mannar - Jaffna road. In Jaffna you can visit a lot of places of tourist attraction. Be sure to visit a small island called 'Delft' and also another island, 'Naagadeepa'. You can enjoy boat rides to both places. I'll be expecting your next travel episode...
Hello Ken, we don't eat alone specially when we travel together, we share things, meals, look after each other. I think its not the way in your country. Have a good journey and fun. 😁😁
