I applied this to a test panel and left it outside during the winter. Washed panel three times during the three months of winter. Exposed to snow, rain and night time temperatures of 10° to 20°. Vonixx Sinergy was still sheeting water after this winter test. Compared to other ceramic spray sealants this is one of the best I've found for winter protection.

Wow you have the equipment the car care manufacturers use for durability, no more hand washing for you, and commending for all the hard work in past videos for doing that, thank you 😊

One thing to note is the claim is up to 12 months not 12 months. So it has the potential to reach 12 months. In real work 3-4 months would not surprise me which is shown by the wash test. It is a very good product from my experience using it.

Absolutely correct. Everyone’s individual variables will affect actual longevity. Thats why I test durability as an indicator since i can control those variables. Actual longevity will always be more or less unique to each application and use case. For instance a car that is a sunny weather weekend toy that gets washed 4x a year might have the product last for 24 months.

So i have an idea. This new test you are doing, you should find a way to make it comparable to a wash test. Like i remember you did a test where Seal n Shine lasted 21 washes so how many passes would that same product have on this new test. And kinda just use that as a estimation on future products. Not sayin you do a separate wash test in the videos but just try it with a few products and use it as a benchmark on how approx. how many washes it would survive

Ive done a bit of this testing and I found it seems to depend on product type. The very near-coating and true coating products seem to be roughly the same. PTFE can perform similarly. Light silica sprays and natural/synthetic polymer waxes are easier to strip in the elcometer likely due to the pressure being more consistent than my hand. I am curious about a few products like the seal n shine, wolfgang uber sio2 and a few others that may get a redo, at lest for durability.

@@DmitrysGarage I was thinking the same thing, consistent force or pressure is going to strip it away a lot easier than just manually washing. It feels a little bit more like polishing the protection away which kind of takes away from the durability.....or maybe in the none coating products, you can do the same test but perform 2-3 passes at time & rinse instead of 10 at a time.. I think that would be more realistic for those kind of products..

Yea it's something I could think about. I think we'd have to have different scoring systems depending on product type then. Also it's hard to say how an individual product performs before you test it. I've been very surprised by some products that I would have assumed would be low durability and vice versa. For example Avalon Kings liquid coating billed as a true ceramic performed terribly in even a hand wash failing in just 3 washes. On the other hand I would have never guessed Soft 99s king of gloss paste wax would hold 500+ hand washes.
With the current system im basically trying to bucket products into categories. Minimal, Low, Fair, Good, Very Good, Excellent and Exceptional. I think it's ok for a super easy spray to be in the "Low" category. On the other hand a true coating I'd expect to be in at least Very Good or greater.

@@DmitrysGarage just my opinion but I think you should grade the products based on their advertised durability and judge it off that. 0 to 3 months products get grouped into one category. Up 6+ months gets grouped in another catagory. And then 1yr products... Then you can do all ceramic coatings grouped themselves. And for a few products that don't have a advertised durability, just group them in similar products of whatever category. Like a detail spray, I would group it into 0 to 3 months if it doesn't have a durability claim. It doesn't have to be this method but just something similar in your own way of doing things

OUCH, not impressive durability for Vonixx

    • @DmitrysGarage

Thanks for watching :-). I do agree durability could be higher. I think it really depends on what you want. Everyone would of course like a super easy, crazy durable, ultra slick, and brilliantly pretty product in one bottle. That seems to be a unicorn.
However, for those seeking an easy option this Vonixx is very good. I played with it more off camera, I tried it on my mustang, etc.. and its very hard to screw up. So I would recommend it for someone who is a beginner or just cares about ease of use.
Also keep in mind the elcometer testing is a standardized way for us to compare products. It keeps a consistent pace, pressure and is programmed to dispense soap at exactly the same time on each pass. This is a perfect way to compare products since it controls for things that are variable in the real world.
It is not necessarily representative of how an individual will wash a car even with the same pad material and shampoo. For instance people tend to scrub very lightly on clean garage kept cars, especially with their nice luxury and sports cars. On the other hand people will often use more force and more back and forth scrubbing passes on dirty cars covered in winter salt and road grime. The results in real life will vary per individual.
