    Appreciate the video. For what it's worth, I was surprised to find that my microwave didn't have this filter. I, at first, thought that maybe one of my tenants took it out and I was about to order a new one. Then, I thankfully found the Owner's Manual online and it notes that if your fan vents to the outside (which mine does), then you do not use the filter. Just FYI for others. :)

      Oh gosh, wish I would have read this before I purchased some filters lol...I was just seeing why mine didn't have a filter. Thank you so much!

      But what if it’s telling you you need a new filter?

      Hi, @@laceylouee5097 - the microwave itself says this? Or the manual says this?

      I haven't looked to see if my MW has a filter or not. I just came across this video while researching something else. Before I look, what if I'm not sure if it vents outside or not? Would it matter if I used a filter and it was venting outside?

    That is awesome. Thanks a lot. I have an old GE model, JVM1870SK03, which has the same filter location. I called GE customer service, but they ware unable to help. I called them, and the rep was unsure how to guide me with the filter replacement. Your presentation is helpful!!. The part number for the model JVM1870SK03 is WB2X10733, just in case someone is looking for it.

    When doing this on a GE XL1800, there is a third screw just above the clock. This screw will also need to be removed, follow all other instructions as by GE.

    I didn't remove the adhesive so the end of the bulb broke off inside the socket. Can the socket be replaced so I can insert a new bulb? Also, how do I know what size my microwave is? It is about 14 years old.

    Helpful video. Unfortunately mine was installed where I couldn't get to the screws so I had to remove the whole microwave to get in there. That is super frustrating...such a simple task otherwise!

    Model # JVM6175DK2WW does not have a grill and my charcoal filter does not look like the one shown. And my old filter looks unused. But the sensor did come on. This video does not apply.

    mine doesn't have a screw on the top. Also tried but I can't slide the grill to the left as shown in the video. Can you give me more info or video links? Need help... thanks

      Hello Larry, If you don't see the screws, your microwave was probably installed improperly. The unit will need to be uninstalled and installed properly to keep the screws exposed and then you will be able to gain access. Please contact us by clicking on the link below if you have any additional questions.

    Does the power have to be turned off before you do this?

    • @geappliances
      @geappliances  6 років тому +1

      Hi Mary - we recommend either unplugging the microwave (the plug is usually located in the cabinet above the microwave) or turning the power off to the unit at the circuit breaker box. Thanks -CC

    I have a JVM3160DF3CC -- We cannot get the grill off. We have taken out all of the screws on top of the unit and the grill does not seem to budge.. This was before we installed the unit. The microwave came with the charcoal filter in a bag - but we cannot get it into the unit..

      Gina, after unscrewing the two nails, open the door to the microwave and slide the grille slightly to the left. From there, use your index and middle fingers to press down on the grille, before pulling straight up and out. Let us know if that helps!

    • @ginabulloch522
      @ginabulloch522 8 років тому

      There are actually 3 screws ( one on each end and one over the clock). I have taken them out again , opened the door, and there is NO WAY that grill is moving - either sideways, in and out ,or up and down. It feels that the grill is actually connected to the main frame. I can look in the grill and see where the filter goes - but no way is the grill coming loose by those directions.

      Unplug the microwave and try wiping down down the area with warm soapy water to ensure there is no grease or debris. The grease build up could cause it to get stuck in place. If you're still unable to remove the grille, I'd recommend calling our service team at 1-800-432-2737.

      Thanks for the service team number - there couldn't possible be any grease build-up - I just bought it 2 days ago .

      Gina not sure if you've already called but have you tried pulling straight out? I attempted on our test microwave a few moments ago and it took a little tug but finally came out. I didn't notice before but instructions specific to your model is actually on this video: ua-cam.com/video/RS-f3LcM8xo/v-deo.html&feature=youtu.be

    It seems like the filter is much bigger than listed here at:
    www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/WB02X10943/0022/364?pathTaken=directMatch&filterPart=&pop=flush&prst=0&shdPart=
    Is that correct?

      Hello Shengwu Shang, The charcoal filter can be different sizes for different microwaves. We recommend ordering the filter that directly corresponds with your specific model. Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day!

    Well, I did not back bend over the stove to look underneath the microwave, unscrewed, and pulled out halogen light bulb, but can't get the new one in....am trying to push firmly, but its' not happening. Yes, this is the correct bulb and looks identical to the one I removed.
