Those are some good looking sets!
Thanks man!
We love Dukes! We "caught" a crow before.... found its leg in the trap and feathers. Frantic birds on the ground usually gets eaten quickly
#lazypondfarm ha! True!
New sets look great. Looking forward to future trapping videos.
Thanks! We have already had better luck. New video out next week!!!
This was very educational for me. Thank you .
Voon Chile thank you! Take care.
Awesome footage of that release Tim ! I think you’re going to have better luck relocating those traps can’t wait to see how it works out for you !
Wait until you see the next two trapping videos!!! Thanks!
I run some Duke #2 4 coil offset dogless. I laminated the jaws. No issue with them. I run alot of dukes, Bridger, and some mb 550 650 Northwood.
Nice!! Good luck out there!
For more effective trap firing never pack tight over you levers! Just a tip! Good luck!
Thanks!
I just picked up your channel bud! Im using the 550s & #2s & had my best season yet with 10 coyotes & 5 red fox!!
That is so awesome ! Congrats!
Looks like its getting nice out there. Stay safe.
Finally, yes! Thanks and you too!
O/S means offset. You're getting better!
Thanks! I appreciate the help! Have a great day!
I like that you let the turkey vulture go. I have never actually seen one and I was wondering it you were going to eat it. I guess it would be hard to eat something call a Vulture... it would be like eating a crow, I guess.... Thanks for the tour....
HA! Thanks Ken. If someone want to see me eat crow.... I'm up for anything!
I would highly suggest attending a trapping course and or becoming a member of your states Trappers Association. Alot of good information for beginners learning how to trap. Good luck.
Thank you! I sure have learned a lot since then. Got fox, coyote and even bobcat user my belt!
Them are great traps there just as good as mb550 I want try the Duke 650s that came out this spring I've allways ran dukes been trapping 29 years
I appreciate that. I haven't tried the MB's yet but the Duke seems very good so far!
That poor turkey vulture thought he was done ! Nice catch and release 👍Hurry a catch a yote 💯
Mountaineer ha! Working on it brother!!! Got a good catch video coming out next week!!
Wow. The ground was almost fluffy as you packed the trap down.
Ernie Hatmaker trapping is fun and we can have our chickens free ranging now!!!
I read up not too long ago that duke, bridger, and minnesota brand are all made in canada? Maybe the steel is stamped in china and the parts are shipped over and assembled in canada.
I sure prefer made in NA! Thanks.
@@RidgeLife well for the most part youre still buying non american steel parts put together in america. Im glad they give americans jobs assembling traps but at the end of the day most of americas steel import is from brazil, canada, and mexico but china has a massive stake in US import steel as well. So with it all said and done you pay an extra 3 or 4 dollars for a trap made by an american but with steel made from china, mexico, brazil, or canada so its the same traps just different fingers assembling them. Youre supporting small american jobs but are still buying the same product pretty much if youd have bought one made in china, canada, brazil, or mexico.
It’s not even trapping season at the time of this video
I can trap year round as landowner under TN nuisance animal statute.
Don’t use your shoe to bed your trap separate gloves for just setting, gloves off for baiting or separate gloves for baiting. For coyotes about 9” offset from your dirt hole. I usually pick out a backing for my dirt hole. Little bit of lure goes a long way. Keep all human scent and bait scent away from your trap. You will see a lot of dig ups from any bait scent or they’ll roll on it and you’ll just have some hair in your trap. Good luck to you, message me with any questions you have and I will gladly help you out
Thanks for the great tips!
Where can you buy these that you don't pay as much for shipping as you do the trap? Thanks
I just ordered more from www.trapshed.com this time
@@RidgeLife Thanks!
@@RidgeLife Thanks
That turkey vulture will hurt your life stock by pecking there eyes out and killing them
Ouch. Good point. Thx
But they are illegal to kill as dumb as it sounds youre not allowed to kill it and most dnr workers say they cant even issue a damage permit for a buzzard, vulture, or hawk/falcon. I think if you catch any animal actively hurting your livestock it should be a legal kill. Once a raptor finds a food source they will come back until the food is gone. I have had chickens get eaten by a redtail hawk and the dnr cant issue a nuisance tag, livestock or property damage tag or anything and its stupid. The land wasnt meant to be taxed and not only are we paying for land but we cant even fully protect what we keep on our land from stupid laws and regulations.
One day we will meet. I promise you that.
I hope that is a good thing! Ha!
Why not use Ridgelife urine?
Ernie Hatmaker hmm! I have thought about it!
I think it's illegal to dispatch a turkey vulture because there is no season.
Hmm not sure. I’ve never killed one as they do a very good service in the wild.
Federally protected
Is this trap too big for racoons?
Not the best choice but they can make it spring if stepped on solidly.
Made in China. Boo! Buy the MB550.
Where in the US do the MB550 get produced? Do they use US steel? I am in the steel industry and would love to support it! I don’t see it on their website and especially since they bought out other companies.
@@RidgeLife MB stands for Minnesota Brand, so I'm assuming Minnesota.
@Mike Woldring MB has admitted to using components made overseas...so the whole made in USA is BS. they are assembled in Minnesota...so if where they are assembled is important to someone...that's the real story.
Sorry, I didn’t in any way mean it as a threat. I just meant someday I’d like to talk to you about it. My wife and I are animal lovers. Although we have nothing against hunting or farming as we own a small farm ourselves. We used to raise our own animals for food ourselves. We took great effort to kill our food animals as quickly and humanly as possible. Trapping just seems like a horrible thing to do to an animal. You also seemed to have a cavalier attitude towards it. I found it upsetting. I apologize for my previous comment, I didn’t mean it like it sounds.
I am sorry as well. I try to check the traps daily and use offset traps that don’t cut off the circulation so I can release any dogs or cats that may inadvertently get trapped. I try to be humane as possible and eat a great deal of the animals I trap as well if healthy. I have never had a dead animal in my trap ever.
As a trapper I've had my hand in a lot of traps and I can tell you it dont hurt them. They're designed to just hold them till you get there.
Very true Devon. Thx
@@RidgeLife You're welcome. Trapping is getting.less popular these days and my late grandpa is the one that taught me how and took me along with him and I hate to see it die out because of misinformation. Keep trapping if thats what you enjoy and you'll always be happy.
