Providing a surface-level reference to something iconic from the source material is easy. Recreating what made that thing iconic in the first place often takes passion and skill. This is one way I try to distinguish between shallow “fan-pandering” and genuine fan-service. And by the looks it, Welcome to Raccoon City seems to mostly consist of the former.
This looks great, if your going to include the hunter best of luck. Puppet and or prosthetics could work. there's a couple of idea's I have if your interested.
@@morucek if you use re3r model and hide it a bit it could work. Also there's a cool shot I would kill for you to try. Your under the bed and you see Jill shoes, she walks for a bit only stopping when a knocked over chair blocks her way. The camera pans up revealing a hanging body. I think it's better than a body on the bed
This animatic looks like a great concept for a short fan-film. The current voiceover captures the keeper's personality and deterioration thereof, along with your mixture of audio from both the original RE1 and its remake. One thing I am curious about is how your team is thinking of portraying the Hunter Alpha that kills the pig. Were you considering puppetry, 3D animation, a cosplay, or a mixture of different creature effects? If you would like me to suggest some of my ideas, I was thinking that when Jill reads the repeated "Itchy. Tasty" phrase, it could somewhat play out like that "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" scene from The Shining. Also, I was thinking that the closet door could slowly creak open, while Jill's back is still turned. That way, we could have a moment where Jill hears the door opening, turns around to see the oncoming zombie, and gets grabbed. After she successfully breaks out of its grab, only then does she shoot it down. Perhaps for good measure, we could have that same music, which plays during that moment in the RE1 Remake, and see Jill get ready to either burn or decapitate the corpse. To end the scene, Jill could finally say "poor bastard". *That was the main feedback I wanted to offer. But if you want more, I will share some additional questions I had, about how the Keeper's Diary story would play out in general. Perhaps these two sets of observations further below could give you other ideas:* *1.) Back when I first played both versions of RE1, I presumed that the "skinned gorilla" was some kind of mystery creature, which was never meant to be revealed.* It seems many interpret it as a Hunter, which makes the most sense out of all creatures specifically shown in RE1. However, what throws me off is that a Hunter is something, which I would more likely describe as a "hairless gorilla" or a "scaly gorilla", seeing how Hunters still have skin. If I was to consider enemies introduced in later games, I think the Eliminators from RE0 and even the Lickers from RE2 better fit the description of a "skinned gorilla". So I might consider portraying one of those other enemies during the film, or one could still stick to using a Hunter. *2.) Now that I have seen people attempting to reenact the Keeper's story, I wondered what would be the most logical way to portray the dog part.* I have heard mixed interpretations, whether the Keeper was taking care of mutated Cerberus dogs from the start, regular Dobermans that escaped, or regular Dobermans that got infected and escaped (which your animatic seems to suggest). If those dogs were supposed to be Cerberus B.O.W.s the whole time, I do not see how it makes sense to have them in a pen exposed to the wilderness, versus an underground lab area. And if their pen was in an underground lab, I do not know how the dogs would escape unnoticed, since they would be bound to bump into someone wandering the corridors. Besides these questions to consider, if you were to go the route of having those dogs already be Cerberus under Umbrella's supervision, I think it would make sense if their enclosures looked more like bullet-proof glass. If they were only contained by regular bars, they could cause a whole viral outbreak, just by biting or spitting on someone standing close to the bars.

We never see any dog pen, or lab cage where the hunters are. Even in the remake. No sign of breakouts too.
I feel bad for Scott... He really did seem to care and look out for the keeper against orders, and gets killed by his friend for it
