- U.S. Marines conduct a small craft course in preparation for Exercise Freezing Winds 24 in Dragsvik, Finland, Nov. 5 - 6, 2024. Freezing Winds is an annual Finnish-led maritime exercise involving U.S. Marines assigned to Marine Rotational Force - Europe and serves as a venue to increase Finnish Naval readiness and interoperability between NATO partners and allies in and around the Baltic Sea.

You're layed down with your squad in the middle of thick forest with fallen trees, rocks, and old foxholes and trenches all over the place, shooting and engaging the enemy when all of a sudden a dude on a dirtbike appears out of nowhere and skids to a stop right behind you and relays some message to the squad leader, then drops the clutch and hauls ass back through the bush to go report back to the officer in charge. Makes you laugh and shake your head everytime, like its already hard enough to run through this type of terrain on foot, where TF did this guy come from?! -our Finnish dirtbike scouts are pretty rad, and those boys sure know how to ride!
My brother was during his army service once passanger of motorbike scout. And said it was most frightening travel experience ever :D
Was itching to be one, but they didn't train any from my class... Ended up on a sniper course, no complaints.
Yeah I was that guy in the military😂 now imagine being that guy and doing some forward scouting. You come across the enemy and haul ass back to report. Now your own guys on the frontline shoot you down because they see some guy on a bike heading towards them full speed from the direction of the enemy😭 I was pissed af at them
Took the same course back in the day when I served in Finnish Army, One of the best things you can do on taxpayer money and some of the most fun.
Back then we still had WR250R's but those have mostly been replaced or are slowly being replaced with the CRF 250, because of some new requirement of peace time motorcycles to have ABS on them, I think.
Motorbike scouts are very handy here :)
Only special cases for scouting. Not so usual. Rare. But that is very ordinary for the finnish motorcycle messengers. Daily job for them. Especially when all lines are out.
The most angriest man I have ever seen was a dirt bike scout covered in mud from head to toe on a chilly evening with his trip halfway done as the rest of us are getting ready for some sleep😂
Hats off to everyone who has to work in terrible conditions.
Little different day in military i think 😅 👏👍🇫🇮
marines have way too much fun :)
Just wait till they start their snowmobile training.
@@oh2mok stop.. or ill sign a contract with FDF, i am 57 now... surely not too old to have fun :)
MPK courses are a bit far off my place though.
Marines: *WEEEEEEEE!*
I would like to see the difference between putting a regular US Marine vs. a regular Finnish soldier through a course like this. The Finns would have a distinct advantage, because motor racing in any form imaginable is available to most of them from childhood. Did you ever wonder why Finland, with just over 5M citizens, has had more top-level racing drivers (F1, Rally, you name it) than a 340M nation like 'Murica?
Started driving these woods/paths at 8-9y/o :D
Honda Crf300L 👍
10 minutes of real motocross will make an everyday biker whine.
3:42 bro forgot his blinker on, classic
Ryöstöt!!
fmf pipes please😂
It feels so surreal to see marines training in my old stomping grounds! (Edited comment due to me misremembering where dragsvik was, my bad!)
Nylands bridage is in Dragsvik? And there's literally train stop for Dragsvik, yet you say there's no train tracks around there?
E nog i draksvik, e ju vägen ti skjutbanan och g-skogen 😌
@@nahkiss i stand corrected, you are absolutely right. Had it confused with Skinnarvik which is also also a military area nearby. As i said its been a good few years!
Tämä on sitä militarismin hyökyaaltoa.
