One of the saddest scenes of all time from one of the best movies
For a machine to learn how to feel, to feel empathy, love...Is the greatest ability for a machine to have. Some can say its part of being a machine with A.I.
I believe The T-800 learned it from both the Neural Net Processor but also the same way a living being learns and maybe even develop empathy ...
Terminator 1 and 2 are like the two first Godfather movies but in sci fi.

@@jonahthrane812
I don’t understand
@@jonahthrane812 Actually, it's exactly the opposite. He understood and at the same time is aware that he is just a machine. And these emotions separate people from machines.
@@jonahthrane812no. It’s heavily implied suggested that he has developed an emotional capacity. He knows why humans cry when upset, but he can’t because he lacks lacrimal glands. He knows what John is feeling, and I think truly cares for him.
The fact that The Terminator no longer listens to John's orders really makes me feel like he's learned to actually think for himself and do the right thing for the world.
I don't think so, it's more like he is programmed that way. once the mission is over it must self terminate.
Indeed, early on when John finds it is bound by his orders it says "It is one of my mission parameters." Later it says "I have to stay functional until the mission is complete, then it doesn't matter." With the T-1000 eliminated, the mission is complete
@marvinrios5444That and he was pretty badly damaged already. The technology and materials of that time period were inadequate to repair him, so he was basically useless at that point anyway.
He was following John's orders. John from the future.
T-800 was programmed to only destroy other terminators who wanted to kill John.
Once the mission complete of the terminator out to kill John was killed, it was meaningless for T-800 to stay around.

“I know now why you cry, but it’s something I can never do.” Arnold gets flack for being a horrible actor (which I’m aware of but don’t agree) but as a Terminator he nails it every time, and this specific line delivery and scene is one of my all time favourites in film. Perfection
Arnold is not a great actor, but in a role where he is this cold and calculating machine, he really sold it, and you'd never expect to actually cry at this part. 10/10.
Arny will never be a drama or serious actor of course, but as an action star, Arnold and Sly were 2nd to none
Who says Arnold is a bad actor? I really enjoy most of his films, both comedy and action. He even has quite some range, being able to play the T-800, but also some unaware goofball, like in Twins.
@@kintaro1851 he’s had some Decent acting roles. I think T2 is one of his best roles as an actor. He had a lot to do in this film than the first one. He did a film called Maggie where he did a good job as well

@@GaryMillyz What?
why men cry here:
Arnold plays a robot in the film... a character who does what is necessary... he protects John and his mother with the highest priority... when it's done, and he knows that everything will end well for them, he leaves. .. without wanting anything, without expecting a thank you or anything else. True men also sacrifice everything for the ones they love. They destroy their bodys through hard work. Build everything that is necessary, repair everything that is necessary. Dreams, wishes or recognition are the last thing on their mind... the only thing that matters is that the family is doing well.
And I think subconsciously we men know that at some point we will have to leave and leave our favorite people behind. And hope that we did good for them... And this scene somehow manifests that (for me at least).
It's a machine okay because kyle reeve said it in the first movie
He magnanimous like Jesus Christ
And that thumbs up at the end is like literally saying : *You all gonna be ok, i know it*
100% mate
I think most men cry cause the T-800 represents their father (figure) and they see themselves as John.
The whole movie builds up the father/son relationship to then just destroy it at the end, resonated with me when I watched it as a kid as still does.
I cried as a child when watching this, rewatching it almost made me cry again. Perfect scene.

an excellent masterpiece that will forever live on through the years to come.
One of the best endings in movie history.
Absolutely!
Correct
Best movie for ever. James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd was very great.
What always gets me about this scene is the terminator returning John's embrace. The way he readily hugs him back and closes his eyes, then rests his remaining hand on the boy's head in a tender gesture... It all feels so spontaneous, so human, and is such a clear sign that he had developed feelings for him as well, it breaks my heart everytime. 💔
That thumbs up showed the terminator was so proud of him.
No. He was showing him everything was ok. Nothing to do with pride. Just sayin.
Didnt have a dad growing up and in many ways Arnold was a role model father figure. A protector and moral compass. I cried as a kid when he went into the lava like losing another dad and i cried as a man. The irony and relevancy this has on our life is real. The thumbs up signifies love that transcends death. Even for a robot.

Terminator 2 was a masterpiece 👍James Cameron is very great.👍
Great work by him
The way John says "stay with us, it'll be okay" is so heartfelt as a plea! It kills you when the terminators response is a definitive " I have to go away"
No bargaining with Terminators
"Stay with us or I'll jump!"
Problem solved 😉
The “I order you not to go!” part really does it for me, and of course I completely lose it with the final thumbs up
That one of the things that Kyle Reese told Sarah about the Terminator - Terminator can't be bargained with in any way.
R.I.P., Alexey. We won’t forget your sacrifice and wait for Russia to become free again!
You are our hero!
T2 was definitely the best terminator ever made, the nastalga… definitely brings back memories
Yeah 2 is good my favourite ones are 2 and 3
This is the best ending scene out of all the Terminator movies. All of them had some sort of sad ending where an important character dies and in many cases there is a part where they say goodbye.
But in T2 it was particularly heartfelt because it was like saying goodbye to a family member. The T-800 was like the father figure for John, and together with Sarah in the same scene there was that picture of a family with father, mother and son.
Up to this point before the T-800 says he also needs to be destroyed, the audience is left with a sense of peace and triumph. The main antagonist T-1000 has been defeated, Sarah and John are reunited, and John has a father figure which Sarah has been looking for all these years for John.
But then as soon as that perfect moment came to pass, it is quickly and painfully torn apart. Moments such as this speak to us emotionally as we envision a beautiful and bright future ahead for the people we love and hold dear.
It is not just a family member, to me it felt like saying good bye to the classic 80s action hero, the decade this came out is about the last we see of them. John captures the kid we all were at the time. Even though they can't act they felt like fathers to us and we thought they were so cool
@@equestriaelectricsymphonyo8602 Yes I totally agree, the 80s was a very special time. A lot of top-tier film intellectual properties were created in that decade alone, as was the calibre of film-making and acting.
As far as I'm concerned, this scene is the end of the Terminator franchise. It's perfect.
Still my favorite ending of the entire Terminator franchise.
And this is where it should have ended (although T3 is decent)
Schwarzenegger never got enough credit for this role. His was a unique character in the history of film; no one like it before or since.
Terminator 2 Judgment Day is a true sci fi masterpiece 🙂. I remembered how much i cried when i was a kid watching the ending . Brad Fiedels music score was fantastic and spot on 🙂.

I actually cried when I was a kid seeing this.
For Navalny
At the time of its release, this scene struck a chord particularly because Generation X was recognized as the first 'Latch Key' generation, navigating through the complexities of growing up with absent parents, single motherhood, and the like.
The juxtaposition of a detached yet perpetually protective father figure captivated the audience. This emotional resonance was heightened by the characters' journey to deconstruct the quintessential father ideal, leading to a moving conclusion.
